That's horrible. Northwest Ohio today was 60 and a downpour all day long. Our course has been wet (and car path only) for the past week. No hope of drying out now before it shuts down.

We got our first snowfall of the year today; didn't stick. Should be warmer and drier tomorrow, so I will be playing. I've got 7 more days, then I shut it down for surgery... not for weather!!

Cleveland got a bit luckier then. The heavy stuff didn't hit till late afternoon. I was able to get in a dry 18 inbetween the clouds. Though I'm sure most courses are closed today.

I live in the northeast (about 30 miles west of Boston) and our golfing season will be coming to an end soon. Hopefully we won't be getting too many Nor'easters this year but nevertheless it's getting to be that time.

I'm curious -

..for those that live in colder climates, when do you decide to put the bag away for the season? (first snow, below 40 degrees, etc.?)

Do you realize it's probably your last round?

Do you do anything special?

Also - during the offseason - do you use a simulator occasionally just to keep the swing grooved?

..for those that live in warmer climates, do you ever have an off season?

Do you taper down a bit in the fall/winter or do you play as much as normal?

Does your handicap fluctuate at all during the year?

Lived in Northeast for 50 yrs moved to SC this year yahhhhooo so I dont have to put clubs away - I never did use to go to heated range 2 times a week in winter but that gets old fast - very happy I can play yr round now

I live in the Charlotte area and I'll play through the year, we have enough 50 to 60 degree days in the winter that allow us year round golf.

I also travel to Fla allot for work and I'll bring my clubs with me during the winter

Probably won't happen as my winter gets busy, but id love to jump in the car one Friday am pick up that ole Kevin on the way and head down for a weekend.

My clubs still haven't left the trunk of my car. Having said this though, I have golfed only once in the last 2 1/2 months and maybe had an hour of range time total. One year, I was at the range and snow started to fall. The guys inside just shook their heads. I've also gone to the range when there was snow out in the range. They asked me not to hit as many balls as I usually did because they couldn't get out to pick the balls, LOL. This was all of course PK (Pre-Kids).

I am playing Bethpage Black Friday. Forecast is for a high temp of 35* F and 30+ mph winds. If they open the course, I'll be attending my own funeral!

But I will play if the course is open. With a walk as tough as Bethpage, I'll be warm.

In my bag: Ping G LS Tec 9* Tour 65 Stiff, Cobra F8 3-4 wood HZRDUS Yellow 6.0, Calloway 21* X Forged Utility iron (steel stiff), Ping G30 white dot 4-9 Stiff 110 gm KBS tours Scor 48,52,56,60 Wedges, Nike Method Core MC3

Bethpage Black and 30+ mph winds? That's a dip in a shark tank wearing liver shorts. Let us know how it goes!!

It won't be good, lol.

I will. The course is so hard on its own, the elements may help me a bit or be a wash. Not try for the pro/hero shot, but lay up on a par 4 for a wedge in. 17 will be impossible.

Saying 17 will be bad without saying 15 & 16 won't be bad is crazy, but I think 16 & 17 will be harder than 15. 10 & 11 will be absurd too.

Well, the Black kicked my butt, but I probably would have had a similar score if the weather was perfect. There were only a few shots in which the wind just swatted my ball down. Otherwise, the wind just meant more layups and trying to judge how much more or less club to use. With layers, the 35* cold wasn't bad too bad either. The course is in great shape despite the ongoing rebuilding of several bunker complexes. The greens are terrific- pure and fast. The rough was really dense but not too too high. I only lost one ball in the rough :-(.

So, it was fun and brutal, and at $70 for NYS resident, I consider it a steal.

i actually like the 5-6month break from playing golf.Great time to invest in other hobbies.I almost couldn't imagine playing year long.Pretty positive I would get extremely burned out with non stop golf

Keep it in the short stuff

Bethpage Black is an awesome course and destroyed our 4-some when we played years back. Green is no slouch either give it a go sometime. It's a great deal for NY residents, they charged us considerably more being CT residents and we had to wait to play only when there was a cancellation.
