Middler
Not talking wiping them down on course, but actually cleaning them e.g. soap, water, soft brush? I used to clean mine after every round, now it’s after every 2 or 3 rounds - though I wipe them down thoroughly after every shot, making sure all the grooves are clean for every shot. Spurred by the wedge thread and how crucial grooves are to spin, coupled with about half the guys I play with who almost never clean their clubs! They impart almost no spin, and often hit with “clogged” grooves (WTH?). Their clubs live in their car trunks... I probably don’t clean my grips as often as I should… GolfSpy_SHARK and Shapotomous 2 Quote Titleist TSR2 11° HZRDUS Red CB 50 6.0 w Lamkin UTx Midsize Titleist TSR2 16.5º HZRDUS Red 60 CB 6.0 & TSR2 21º HZRDUS Black 4G 70 6.0 w Lamkin UTx Midsize Mizuno JPX923 HMP 4-GW, T22 54.12WS, T22 58.04DC w Lamkin ST+2 Hybrid Midsize Evnroll EV5.3 Maxfli Tour & ProV1 Ping Pioneer - MGI Zip Navigator AT Payntr X 002 LE, Ecco Biom C4, Payntr X 001 F (Mesh)

Kenny B
Our turf is firm and not wet unless after irrigation, so the grooves don't get so dirty that a wipe down before putting in the bag doesn't work. I don't clean the grips as often as I should with soap and water since humidity is low; generally a few times a year or when I pack them up to travel. russtopherb
I'd like to say I wipe them off after every shot, but I know that's not true. I have a wet towel with me but I'll often only use it if the grooves are really dirtied up. But I do clean all the clubs off after every round with warm water and mild soap. If I played 2-3x per week I honestly don't know if I'd stick to that schedule, but playing one round per week that's what I do. I also prefer to go to ranges that have soapy water next to their grass sections because I'll always clean off after every session. pakman92
I try to clean the face and remove dirt from the grooves between shots (most of the time). In terms of actually scrubbing the groves and grips, I do it once a month or so which equates to 7-8 rounds plus practice (on a mat). I use mild soap and plastic bristled brush for the task. Middler
I could probably get away with using a wet towel after every shot and avoid any further cleaning, but I don't want to spend the time to get my clubs completely pristine while playing for fear of holding other up, so I just make sure the grooves are clean and don't worry as much about other dirt. I also end up with tee marks on my driver sole, and occasionally other clubs (par 3's), and that only comes off with a "Magic Eraser" IME. And there are usually faint ball marks on the faces of my driver, 3W and 3H that I hit with the Magic Eraser, it would take forever with a wet or dry towel on course. Thanks for the replies so far. I’m impressed that many clean after every round, maybe I should go back to that. GolfSpy BOS
So, I clean my club after every shot (ok, at the range off mats is not after every shot). But if I'm out on the course they get a wet towel and cleaned grooves after each shot. That really has mostly eliminated the need for a soapy clean during the year. I will give them a cleaning if I have a lot of tee-marks or something, or a particularly muddy round. Generally though they get a cleaning at the beginning of the year, in the middle, and at the end of the season. Now I should probably consider cleaning the grips more often, that's for sure. azstu324
I guess that this can be somewhat of a loaded question. I try to make an effort to hit the range before every round, and after the range make sure to soak the clubs in a bucket of water and clean them before the round starts. Additionally it's become my OCD to have a wet towel before I tee off. I will clean my club before each shot to make sure there's no dirt to get in the way. As far as soapy water in the sink cleaning, I probably do that once a month but the clubs naturally stay pretty clean from round to round. Agwinup
How do I say after every shot? If you're hitting a ball with a dirty club you're shortening the life, and hindering the playability, of your club. You don't need soap and water to clean your clubs, unless you got oil on them. You also need to towel dry your clubs. DO NOT LET THE FACE AIR DRY!! That will destroy the grooves.
