I'm not going to indicate which side of the political fence I'm on, but someone put my phone number on the must-text list for the other side of the fence, and I get an incredible number of spam texts from the side I won't vote for. Stuff like blatant lies and "your membership is about to expire and we need you to help us win!" You're full of it, I don't have a membership, I don't want you to win, leave me the hell alone. Generally I just mark it as spam if my phone didn't do it for me, but every once in a while I respond F U to the particularly outrageous ones before I mark them as spam. (I think I know who put me on their spam list, and I'm not happy with him. If he wasn't family, I'd rip him a new one.)

Sounds like an awesome day! I've only played 36 in a day once, a long time ago, and I doubt my postsurgical back will ever let me do it again.

I understand that Tot Hill Farm had really deteriorated and they had a massive restoration project to get it back to the way Mike Strantz built it. Among other things, they removed like 1200 trees. Not sure I'm up to playing a Strantz course, but maybe I'll try Tot Hill or True Blue or something.

You can't beat the price and for someone that wants to do some testing between the models, it makes it an easy way to do so.

Good weekend Morning Golf Spies!!

Clear and chilly here, still only 45, but warming up quickly. Had some good range time yesterday with the Newton Motion driver shafts. May do a little this afternoon, too, and then play tomorrow. 

So on the way home yesterday heard a fun thing on the radio - for any Simpsons fans, Hank Azaria .. the voice of Professor Frink, Chief Wiggum, Comic Book Guy, Moe the bartender and several others .. started a Springsteen tribute band - the hook here is he sings Bruce songs in each of the Simpsons characters! That could be a wacky fun show!

Right now I see no reason to try a different model. The Tour X stops better than any ball I've ever played, and the distance is as good if not better. The problems with my game are not attributable to the ball, put it that way. I may just put my remaining Srixons in the shag bag.

Good morning Spies,

Uppa with a cuppa on a crisp Saturday morning in Central NY. Our 10+ year old washing machine needs a part that is no longer available. The new washing machine delivers on Tuesday. Our dish washer that intermittently doesn’t work is still limping along. I’ve been getting a monthly email from Sears Appliance Repair that the part is still on back order. The joys of home ownership.

The garage entrance door is getting replaced today. Let the good times roll.  

We are having dinner with our neighbors tonight. Should be fun.

Good morning Spies. Awoke this morning to find a puddle in the bathroom floor; the toilet tank is leaking. Already submitted a maintenance request to the landlord, although I doubt it will be repaired before I leave for Charlotte tomorrow. I'll just turn off the water and use the second bathroom. Could I fix it myself? I could if I had the proper tools, but I don't; they disappeared in one of my innumerable moves and I've never replaced them. Don't really want to bother with it either, to be honest.

I put the Newton 2-dot shaft into my Mizuno driver head last night. Looks nice! Now all I need is a grip, and that is waiting for me at Dick's in Charlotte. From there I'll probably go to First Tee and try it out.

Thank you for the information on the Vaccines. I had been told that by the old Navy Doc years ago. LOL yesterday I was in Kroger and of course this time of year they are promoting Flu shots. I told the one lady that my wife worked in that store for 13 years and retired from there. I told her if you think I am going to let a Kroger employee jab me with a needle she must be smoking some good stuff. She had the patented (for this area anyhow) Deer in the headlights look. Some other shoppers laughed, and one lady cracked up and between laughs said "great answer"

Mornin' all! Up early to get on the course for the annual SME (Society for Mining, Metallurgy, & Exploration) golf tourney! It is freaking chilly this morning too. We just went from mid 60's for lows to 40 overnight with that cold front moving in. Lots of coffee and hot cocoa today Can't wait to get those Opus Platinum's warmed up to rock the greens today. Swing well, Spies, and have a great weekend!

A fine good morning to everyone.  Enjoying my morning espresso, trying to recover from the frustrations of yesterday’s round. It was so incredibly and agonizingly slow. Frost delay contributed to this, so I knew it was going to be slow before I started. After the first hole, I already knew this was going to be a 5 hour plus round.  And it only got worse. After 2.5 + hours to play the front nine, there were already two groups waiting on the 10th. That was the final straw, and I walked off the course. Two of my playing partners did the same.  At least they had the smarts to get a rain check for 9 holes. I was too pissed off to care. Sorry for the rant, but I would rather play in 3-5*C (mid 30’s F) weather than play another 5 + hour round.

Good morning spy’s, I’ve been distracted over the past few weeks, with family projects, dr appointments and the loss of my best little fur buddy. Starting the get out of the funk and each day is getting easier with great memories and his offspring filling the void.

weather and the fall foliage are changing and it is beautiful here in  southwest Pa.

Hope all you spies have a great day! Thanks for being a community that I can interact and have fun responding and just BS about anything and everything.

I can see where you and I think alike and would get along fine. I would rip them too. And as far as the family part I would rip them good. LOL might be one of the reasons I do not have any close family. On our phones if your number is not on the list we do not answer. If it is legit leave a message I may respond. Most unknown numbers if the Spam blocker does not get them if a number shows I manually block it. LOL I got so many from Aetna I must have most of their numbers blocked. I got tired of arguing with those people pushing stuff. My Doc is a golf bud and I have his and his son's personal cell numbers on my phone. His son is also an MD. If I need or suspect something I call them. I declined the home wellness check one time with Aetna and the woman asked why? I told her that I had my 6 months checkup the week before and played Golf the day before with my Doc and his son. She could not grasp it and I finally hung up and blocked that number. I guess they employ human robots that read a script and cannot grasp anything in the real world outside the script

Top of the pot spies .  Someone flipped the proverbial switch on temperature here in the Valley of the Sun.  This morning has us grabbing light long sleeve pullovers.  With all four of our courses down for overseed, a few of us played Trail Ridge at Sun City West yesterday.  It was cool but got even cooler as the wind went from 3 to 30+ mph by hole #5.  And, naturally, the return leg of the front nine was straight into the wind.  When we got to #11, the wind had shifted 90 degrees and we played another 5 holes straight into it . 

Nothing like watching a purred 7i for a 138 yard, playing 150+, heading right at the flag, get shoved backwards into the front trap.  We swore it spent a brief moment directly above the hole .  Balls oscillating on the green and trying to factor wind on putts is interesting.  We're curious to see what the GHIN's PCC adjustment will be.  Sadly, my round started birdie/par/par/par/bogey before the golfing witch showed up.

Not much planned today except River's walk and a workout.  Have a great start to the weekend all!

The new oven arrived earlier than I expected and was installed quickly and I can't say enough good about the guys that delivered it. I had a slight issue getting the power cord underneath the stove as the opening in the back is much smaller than the one on my old oven. 

My wife woke up to help me out and she's excited about it and I was joking that she could cook me breakfast. Carefully joking, I will add. I've learned over the years that marrying a woman who grew up in a trailer park outside Chicago can be dangerous and she has sharp kitchen knives. She is one of the most kind, caring people I know but not after getting 4 hours of sleep and I try not to make any sudden movements and startle her.

Good Saturday morning Spies!

Coffee is going down nicely as I sit on the back porch with SWMBO enjoying the cool, brisk start to the day. Weather has been exceedingly pleasant the last few days and it appears it will stay that way for a while now.

@Northern Monkey hope Bluebear is at home now and you are getting reacquainted.

@Byrnzee enjoy the golf today and the remainder of the trip. Love the ball marker, makes me think of @Erin B if you added the hat and mustache...

@sirchunksalot and @Josh Parker I can certainly attest to the enthusiasm of spousal attitude from time to time having married a Kansas farm girl, born and raised, of German descent. It can be quite interesting and colorful to say the least, but I wouldn't change a thing. 

100% agree with all, it is time for the political commercials and signage to end but will only be worse for the remaining weeks.

Good morning MGSpies on a quiet peaceful Saturday with sunshine streaming in the front windows and Sumatra coffee in the mug here at EP HQ in WNY.  Great read catching up on the last 24 and so much to comment on, wish my brain held onto things better and this is page 1030 of TGMT already!

Good to hear heat has broken both east coast @Rickp and western desert @fixyurdivot though the winds can be troublesome in so many ways.

Those flu shots @BIG STU and @ILMgolfnut used to get me with mandatory sticks in my National Guard days, could predict what day I came down with the flu after, and had one medic who would tell me I wouldn't feel it as he was putting the needle in the sharps container having already done it... I never did feel a jab from him, and first 2 COVID shots were bad in the first 12 hours that did not stop me getting it months later.  SWMBO still pushes for them, I tend to "forget" but after all the stuff the Army poked me with over 30 years, I figure my immune system is adept at killing everything except myself, even got 3 of the Anthrax boosters before they stopped that project.

Love the ball mark @Byrnzee and that looks like an iconic one for your game.  Take a photo and make it part of your signature, calling card, or whatever!

Temps are going up around this patch of God's green Earth this week so might have more company on the course.  No word yet on how the last HOPE sessions are being done to finished the program at CC of Buffalo but Veteran Curling starts up at the Buffalo Curling Club tomorrow so that goes back into the exercise mix.  Weekends are for home and occasionally golf and hoping to get in a round with good friends with last round played early August, season now is numbered more in days than weeks so doing my best to keep on the course as long as possible.  Hope golf is a part of your day

Oh man, you were treading on some dangerous ground there.  

I once worked with this lady from Cuba who made her husband use the bathroom sitting down. It was one of the crazier things I've ever heard.

I married a southern redhead with a bit of a Napoleon complex due to her height. Not to mention she went to culinary school so she really knows how to use the knives. I understand your caution all too well. Imagine her current mood when our 10 year old daughter is only 2 inches away from catching up and already wearing her shoes as well. 

I've learned no sudden moves or demanding requests unless a minimum of 7 hours of sleep was met and that she has been sufficiently caffinated. If those two conditions aren't met, don't even think of asking for anything. 

Today is shaping up to be a standard weekend errands day. Swap some books at the library, grocery shopping, etc. I do need to take a look at one of the vehicles again to see if it was just a random issue or if I need to get a new battery because it wouldn't start the other day. It's been having some odd electrical things going on with certain systems. One day the idiotic auto on/off system was deactivated. The last time I started it said the traction system was deactivated but the auto on/off was working again, so who knows. Just haven't felt like messing with it yet.

Good morning spies! It was raining when we got up this morning. A sure indication that fall may actually be starting here in the desert. It will do the course and all of the valley good to see some rain. 

@Byrnzee That is an excellent marker. I am envious of your trip to Pinehurst!

@fixyurdivot In Maricopa county the signs cannot be up past the 20th of November. On the 21st I will be out doing a public service and pulling signs down. I couldn't care less about the signage, I want the rebar for welding projects and art. As of 11/21 the signs are considered abandoned. 

@ILMgolfnut My latest Samsung/Tmobile phone has a spam blocker that stops all of those text political messages. I suspect you can find something on your phone that will do the same.

Happy Saturday everyone. Late post for me today as been on the road most of the day picking pup up. Thankfully BluBear is now home again and settling back in. Cookie, as predicted, was all over him when he got home and is now laid next to his crate trying to paw him. So sweet to see how much she cares for him. 

He went nuts when he first saw us and it took a real effort to stop him from hurting himself. This was despite him having being given sedatives by the vet!

We’ve got another 6 weeks of crate rest and physio for him yet so still some work ahead. 
He’s a bit drowsy after the sedatives but the sleep should do him good

Take a look at the battery terminals especially the ground/-/cathode as when I've had intermittent trouble it's often been a buildup of corrosion that needed a battery brush to clean both the post and the cable clamp.

It it's clean then a new battery is likely the repair needed.

My phone is pretty good about blocking them, probably 80%, but the remaining 20% is still a lot. I get dozens a day. Mostly from the other side of the fence. The ones from my side are annoying enough.
