This works for a course like mine where I have played it many, many times a year over the past 8 years.  I know the slopes and subtle ridges in the greens and the green speed de jour.  When I travel and play an unfamiliar course, I'm surprised how far off my "reads" are.

We've made it to the halfway point of the week and hopefully it's all an easy ride until the weekend.

I'm driving my wife's car today, I'm having her take mine to the shop and I'm going to pick her up there. We have an appointment at 3 and I don't get off until 2:30.

Good morning all and happy Wednesday. Just a usual work day for myself and everyone is back home for today with my girls only going in only two days a week. They might go off on an adventure it seems, my wife is looking to get out with them in the beautiful weather we are going to have today. Maybe when I get off of work today we can do something outside as well, can't pass up the beautiful days given winter will have to come eventually.

Good morning Spies on this weeks hump day. Just another normal work day with too much to do and not enough time to get it all done, due to staffing issues. Seems the workplace environment has changed dramatically for the worse since the pandemic.

Did make tee times for Firday and Sunday, so looking forward to the end of the week.

Good morning MGSpies from an overcast and light rain WNY on this Wednesday in August (love the summer!) with a zero commute distance today.  Golf yesterday forfeit for the weather and a set of rear shocks for my Equinox, job went like clockwork which is remarkable for 2 things: everything went as expected and not a single cut, scrape, or painful thing happened to any part of body/skin and got it done with plenty of daylight.  Ok that was 3.  Golf today with 4:40pm tee time and hope golf is a part of your day!

Yesterday’s round was OK but not exciting BUT we had a great time as usual.

This is gold and what a way to conceptualize the ideal putting line direction and stroke needed for distance.  Seriously, I know the Sheldon effect of this but we already look at the putt we intend to make with more of a gut instinct for what to do but there is the aspect of the eyes and possibly feet input between the assessment of the putt and the actual putt itself and if there is a way to think about how to assess the intended putt to a greater degree of understanding then isn't that of interest to all of us?  

OK, I am 3 pages into the 39 page dissertation, so far so good but have to work so bookmark placed and with any luck my educator mind will drill it down to an easy to understand dialog sure to stir the hornets nest of those who know better

Good morning!  Picked up the new irons yesterday and attempted to go hit a bucket until we got a welcomed little rain shower after 30 plus days of 100 degree weather.  Just jumped on golfnow and scooped up an 11:30 tee time at the local course for today.  Greens are in terrible shape and just have to call it a 2 putt once on them but at $15, it lets me get a round in with the new sticks.

survived the 115* heat index yesterday.  It was mercifully cloudy otherwise I think it would have just been completely unplayable.  As it were my very expensive very breathable dryfit tech button up shirt was soaked ALL the way through everywhere.

The good: driver was solid, irons are just absolute money right now

The average: was getting blady with my wedges but got that sorted out finally and was just dropping darts

The bad: some early trouble really hampered the scoring

The downright UGLY:  22 putts.... seriously.... 22 putts.

*queue internal screaming*

Oh... thanks arccos for spelling out how much of a potato I am at it.

Well at least some aspects of my game were on fire.

currently 16hcp according to arccos and this is set to compared to a 16hcp

This and the actual HA Templeton book are way over my head.   Yes, we look at putts and golf shots in general with a “gut instinct” but still our mind is processing the information it is presented based on pasted experiences and how the laws of physics work.  The break on a putt isn’t random and can be calculated.  We see this with the line that is drawn on the green when watching golf on TV, we see it in training tools like Puttview, and we see apps and systems like aimpoint and tour read that do the number crunching and just tell us to putt to a spot.   Even if you are a feel player you kid is doing mathematical calculations based on past experiences.

It seems overly complicated but with those pictures it actually seems damn simple.  The figures at the end of the paper are just... lightbulb.

Top of the pot spies .  Ears are still tender from last nights Tom Petty tribute band. Okay, got say it, it feels wierd sitting amongst nearly 1000 like grey hair seniors re-living their youth . The event was sold out. These same 5 musicians have been doing this gig for 23 years..wow. They absolutely nail some songs and do a very admirable job on most all of them.  Like so many older rockers, the ability to hit and hold those high range vocals wanes a bit, but they more than make up for that on the frets, drums, and keyboard.  Scott Blackwell has virtually perfected the look, sound and stage presence of the man himself. If you're into Tom Petty's music, I recommend seeing this group.

Men's league play today and having recently been moved into first flight, I've gotta get myself ready.  Have a great Wednesday all .

Beer is usually a good joint lubricant in my experience. Hope it works today for you as well.

Good morning all. Another hot and humid one here in Iowa. No golf until at least Saturday for me, definitely Sunday. Keep working with the putter in the basement until then.
