hi spies! 

I'm caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place. I must have tried every single major putter I could find - who knew Odyssey made SO. MANY. PUTTERS. !!

I've done a couple fittings and did a mini-one over the w/e so I kind of know what to look for but after trying them for 2 hours on Sat and Sun they all sort of blend together. I'm having a hard time picking one but I think that's just me. Part of the problem is you roll them on these terrible, fake, synthetic indoor turfs. I wish there was a way to take them outside. I think I just need to suck it up and pick one. 

enough of that.... some exciting men's college basketball over the weekend. No 'real' surprises in the sweet 16 this year... Purdue and UConn seemed destined to battle it out.

Innisbrook - if you don't like Peter Malnati I don't know what to say... that guy is the most grateful, genuine golfer I've seen in a long time. He's got his priorities straight. Who plays a yellow ball because their kids like it? Couldn't be happier for a guy like that to win. 

Looking forward to a  filled week and some warmer weather!

Innisbrook - if you don't like Peter Malnati I don't know what to say... that guy is the most grateful, genuine golfer I've seen in a long time. He's got his priorities straight. Who plays a yellow ball because their kids like it? Couldn't be happier for a guy like that to win. 

Looking forward to a  filled week and some warmer weather! 

I wouldn't 'just suck it up and pick one". It is an expensive purchase and it should feel and fit good to your liking. Alot of courses have the same putters and you can ask to use one on their practice greens. If not, take your time picking one.

Good morning 

Sunny but cold today! Monday morning with my spitfire granddaughter making potions and Mac n cheese for breakfast just because, and waffles for lunch! Chilly track practice again today gearing up for a scrimmage against Milford and Hopedale Wednesday. Warming up a little on Wednesday (playing shining rock with golfspy_shark and brother in-law) should reach upper fifties.

Good morning all and happy Monday! Weekend snow has given way to more mild temps and rain to start the week here in Wisconsin and we should be in and out of the 50s all week. At this point hoping the golf season will be able to start full time mid April. Had a good weekend that was pretty low key, and is always nice to have once in awhile. Kids are off school this week for spring break and we are taking Friday off to try and find something to do for a long weekend with them. 

I am also quickly finding out that I enjoy buying sports equipment WAY TOO MUCH . Our oldest, as I have mentioned, will be in his first year of sanctioned Little League baseball this year. So far I've bought a helmet (each player is required to have their own ), chin guard for said helmet even though we won't need it this year (but it's an adult helmet so figured why not for down the road), batting gloves which are 100% unnecessary for a 6 year old, and possibly a bat as the one we have is a bit heavy for him. Keep in mind I'm not spending extravagant amounts of money on this stuff, but man, it is fun to buy things for my kids lol. That's not to say some of it isn't expensive, as when we were at Dick's on Saturday I grabbed a random "T-Ball" bat for him to swing to make sure his helmet wasn't going to slide around. As I was putting it back I saw a $250 price tag  who spends that kind of money on a bat for a 6-8 year old?! Lol!

Good Monday Morning Everyone!

Started my Monday by packing up my home office and moving back into our new HQ so my morning consisted of coffee and cable management. Bright side I at least can set up my desk how I want it and make sure it’s clean and functional. I have a feeling it’ll be one of those days/weeks were it’ll be busy but no work gets done due to everyone mingling and catching up. Here’s to lots of coffee!!

I agree with previous comments. Don’t just suck it up and buy something. There are plenty of courses where you could try them out on the green. I was VERY skeptical about the AI One Milled putter until I tested one for MGS. I am truly a believer now! The key is to find one that sets up for you naturally and gives you confident putts. For me it was the SIX T DB. My first ever mallet style putter. Take your time and make a good choice.

Good morning spies!

Back to the grindstone after a relaxing weekend away. Will be nice to get back into my normal routine, but the wakeup this morning was not kind.

Super excited to see that my new MG4 wedges are expected to be delivered today. Going to be refreshing that order status page and counting down the minutes! Might hit up the sim this evening to try them out once they get here.

Weather in Chicago still not quite cooperating for outdoor golf activities. Next couple days will be in the low 60s, but rainy. 

Was great to see Peter Malnati get a win yesterday. He seems like such a genuine guy and many other players have gone on record to say he's the nicest guy on tour. I also love the sun hat/yellow ball combo! Always fun seeing someone different get some wins. Nelly Korda with another playoff victory as well yesterday! What a talent she is.

@Josh Parker happy birthday! Hope you have a great one and don't have to work too hard (if at all!)

Coffee is hot and I'm ready to take on the day. Hope everyone has a great start to their week!

Morning all! I’m headed to the dentist this morning, which I am in the minority of people who enjoy their trip to the dentist (my grandfather was a dentist and it reminds me of him). After that it’s all work until later this afternoon and I’ll hit the gym. I’m battling some lead wrist and thumb pain but the doctor said he thinks it’s just tendon irritations and it’ll go away with some mobility work and time. Have any of you had the same?

Other than that, it’s a pretty slow week, fitting days with Ping and Taylormade later this week which I’m excited for! I’m sure someone will convince me of some club I MUST HAVE lol.

Good morning! Cold and rainy day here in Branson. I’m glad everyone in the family was ok with my brother and I golfing yesterday because it’s supposed to rain all day today. We went to a neat par 66 course called Thousand Hills right off the main road of events in Branson. As the name says, the course was extremely hilly! We definitely don’t see anything near that where I’m from in Southern Michigan! 

Today is a day of indoor things because of the weather!

Good morning spies! Wild Bunch day today but the course could be a little soggy. Rained pretty much all day yesterday which is great for the desert and AZ as a whole. Soggy course could mean cart path only for those who ride and consequently cart path whining as well. I walk so meh...

Celebrating with coffee this morning! Cox actually fixed the internet sometime over night. Now I can get my A&M 9000 videos from the IPad to my computer. 

Impromptu poll: What 5 balls that have a decent alignment marking should I test with the 9000?

I am already going to test the Callaway Truvis(soccer ball) and Triple track. As well as the Srixon divide. What else?

Good morning all. I am finally feeling better after Covid last week grabbed me and my 1 year old. He and I both are sooooo bored and can’t wait to get out of the house. Now that we are no longer under restrictions other then a mask we are heading to the park and I have made 2 tee times this week for Carolina colors and the emerald ( daddy needs golfy or daddy gets cranky) and the wife is actually joining me, I really can’t wait for this !!!!

If you were in southeastern Wyoming or northern Colorado I’d recommend Collindale Golf Academy. They did my fitting I’m so gushy about!

That's Branson for you. When I was in the midst of my running obsession, I attended a medical conference at the Radisson in Branson (I remember that because it had a Sleep Number bed), and of course I had to get in training runs while I was there. Those were ... not fun. Needed ropes, crampons and a Sherpa to get up some of those hills. IIRC Thousand Hills now owns the Radisson, so there's your connection. My golfing memory of Branson was that was the weekend that Tom Watson almost won the Open in his geriatric period; Stewart Cink won the playoff.

After my sim session yesterday, also opened my pack of Flatballs and tried those out. I seemed to be making pretty good contact, which was encouraging after my chunkfest at Pinehurst last week. Meanwhile, the same friend who helped GF put together my sim last week came over to build a backyard palace (it's like 8 by 12 feet) for our cats, since we have been notified by the local constabulary that they can no longer roam the neighborhood; $600 fine awaits the next occurrence. But GF is not going to leave them locked inside, thus the palace. Yesterday was also his birthday so she made birthday dinner for him and I got a decent chocolate cake from our favorite supermarket.

After the birthday cake was demolished, I decided to do my pre-Fit For Golf workout while I watched the USA-Mexico soccer match, which was the first time GF had seen me do the workout. She was impressed at its intensity.

There is the Harvey Penick Golf Academy in Austin. Not sure if they are too commercialized. I also heard good things about Beyond Golf Performance. One of my buddy’s said to check out Garry Rippy, he is in the Austin area.

25 years ago I heard some very good things about the Penick Academy. It was then associated with Golfsmith; I think it's under the control of the Penick family now. Their setup is three-day "academy" sessions, several hours per day.

I read his books. They were great. I know he was one of the best instructors. However, never sure what happens once they go commercial. The Pelz short game is the same way. 1 to 3 day academy sessions and hit or miss with the instruction. It’s not really tailored. They want everyone to do the same drills and technique. The old one size fits most concept. I attended one the best part was the putter fitting and drills. The rest was average.

My understanding of Penick Academy is the student-staff ratio is 3:1 or less, so the instructor has time in three days to get in your head and really tailor a plan to work on your particular weaknesses. However, it ain't cheap; those three days will cost a minimum of $995. They do have one day short-game sessions for $150.

Branson-related trivia: Branson is in the Ozark Mountains, which geologically is the only known mountain range built from the top down. It started out as a high plateau and erosion carved the mountains out of that plateau.

Running late as usual but no golf on the horizon today. Rained all night and into this morning so we are saturated. Not going to complain though as in another month or two we will be begging for rain.

Good morning! A busy weekend of NCAA basketball games for me. My wife and I went to meet her family in Chicago to watch the games. We got back yesterday and watched more of the games. I stayed up way too late for those games, so I'm off to a slow start today.

The weather at least looks nicer today which means golf practice should be good. Let's make it through the day and have a marvelous Monday!
