@red rooster golf This is amazing level of communication from a vendor, the email (if I had read it when received) would have had me look out the front door sooner as I found the delivery when usually check the mail going to lunch about 15 minutes later.

Welcome @red rooster golf!  And thanks a ton for the testing opportunity.

I believe that this is the first glove review at MGS, yes @GolfSpy_APH?

It is indeed!

I will say it is the softest best feeling glove I've ever put on... And that was the rain gloves!

If anyone needed proof that forum testing opportunities are good for hype, here it is. Haven't ever been this excited about a glove, can't wait to hear these reviews. I have a real issue with grip due to the humidity here and only two gloves were able to solve that and both are no longer available. Bring on the reviews!

Welcome @red rooster golf!  These are some nice lookin gloves you've got out in the wild. Eager to hear the feedback from the testers. My birthday is coming up and I'm always lost for ideas when my family asks what I want. Perhaps not this year!

I believe Kerry and I got the size I need worked out.  He was very gracious in overnighting  the package to me, and I will have it today.  Just so everyone knows, I am going on a golf trip with 19 other guys to the North Myrtle area for 6 days, and about 12 rounds of golf.  We are leaving at 0300 early tomorrow morning. I am taking the Red Roosters with me, to use them, and evaluate them, compared to the random size, and brand gloves I just buy off the shelf.

However as this is a vacation for me, I will be concentrating on enjoying myself, you likely will not see an update from me until the 29th, or 30th of April when I return from my trip, with 12 rounds of use with the Sussex, and range time with the Range Rooster to report on.

Don D.

Have a great Golfcation. I have one of those coming up June 1st-4th but no where as nice as Myrtle.

Received my Red Rooster Box yesterday afternoon.  I didn't open it right away as I knew I wouldn't be able to give it a real good look and feel as well as some form of decent review foe everyone.

First thought/Impression:

I liked the box. It's a clean look and you know what you're getting. The name is on the box as well as their website, A Motto & design "Get it, Give it, Change it, Play it". I wouldn't mind knowing the back story to the motto.

 IMG_2640.jpeg.e87760ee3fa80f4d888cd11312d5fd91.jpeg

The gloves and case were packaged nicely, again clean, neat in an orderly fashion. For those that are OCD you would be happy how it was presented. Maybe the bent in greeting card would give you angst but I feel it gave the contents stability. I need a Judge Smails meme here of the "HMMM HMMM".

I will admit when I first opened the box I thought I received 2 Range Roosters and 1 Sussex. I had to jump on "the" line to red Roosters page and see if they sent me the wrong the gloves. If I would have taken 5 more seconds and grabbed the gloves I would have felt the difference between the two. The Sussex is a very soft & light feeling glove. I worried it would just pull apart. But it is very solid, sturdy glove and I can not wait to get to play a round with this glove. The Range Rooster has a different feel, more corse feeling and little more stiff or starchy feel while being soft at the same time.

I do have one knock on the glove, The stitching on the finger tips feels a little bulky or bundled up. I will see how that ends up playing and put it in my final review.

First impression is complete. I can not wait to get out with the Sussex. I sometimes stress over new equipment with how it feels and plays. Am I going to worry about during a round, am I going to feel more confident, How is it going to feel in different situations like off the tee or close chip shots vs 150 an in Or out of the woods will be the big test for a sprayer of the ball like myself.

IMG_2638.jpeg

IMG_2642.jpeg

I do like a soft feeling glove and the Sussex sounds like it is.  One thing I'd like to know is to what extent either of the gloves stretch out.  I've had some brands feel like perfect fits early in their life but tend to stretch out and not fit/feel that great.

Interesting logo.  Maybe I missed it in earlier discussions but I had to look up info on the Red Rooster name and the "wake-up, shake-up, set-up, and give" saying origins. I like it, especially the donate part to junior golf. 👏

So glad you could wait!

The box opened was completely full of good Red Rooster things, gloves, box, sticker/emblem, and a personalized card (more on the card later).

1.4300h.jpg.9ff786c078b9d3ef6081292fc2a5e564.jpg1.6300h.jpg.e26b87b3ed1b0cd377cde1ed92959d8e.jpg

First impressions are big and this is "most special time of the year surprise box even though you know what the gift is going to be" kind of big as in I had not expected the high quality of what was inside and the personalized touch of the presentation with what came out of the box one at a time, just like that "most special time of the year."

I tried on the Sussex glove first and went through the motions of fit pulling on the Mens Small Cadet size on my apparently not as big as I had imagined I was left hand.

1.13200h.jpg.6b33dd657c77c76c2d8d9cf8c027c9d5.jpg1.11200h.jpg.60f854d41b6b4077d618a3ab8fbe5cdc.jpg1.12200h.jpg.72a63638e810679e6bd957b6bcf68fce.jpg

The fit is snug but very comfortable.  I was concerned when Kerry had said it would be thinner and stretch easier than other gloves thinking it was going to be noticeably more delicate than other gloves I have used.  I tried on both Sussex gloves to make sure there was a similar fit as they were both the same size and discovered both gloves felt exactly the same comfortable, snug but not really tight fit.  In no way does this glove feel delicate or marginal in any way.

2.1600h.jpg.ac5fff074732f9097d3fcca8e76f1d82.jpg
(Pay no attention to the Callaway and Maxfli gloves in the push cart basket.)

Full disclosure is we went for a part of a round today and the Sussex glove had it's first experience on EasyPutter's left hand and I actually tried to do the glove on and off each swing.  It was a lot easier to put on and off than I anticipated but it was just 72F outside (Woohoo already!) and despite my wearing two layers below the waist for my 'Veteran late career injury that keeps giving' if it gets cold, I was not perspiring and actually had a really good healthy feeling half round through 5 holes.  The glove just as easy on and off for most shots.  Driver and Irons I did a good job or remembering glove on and off but you guys are nuts making this part of your routine IMHO, and yes I went there.  I kept it on for putting because when you have putted with glove on as long as I have it feels like driving without a seatbelt on to not wear it when putting - and I had 2 one-putts in those 5 holes with the other three lag two-putts so
🙊
The short round was necessary to get to a family member's 90th birthday surprise party.  It was a great time and more than a few were impressed I had played golf between work and the party 🥰

I already know I am going to have to play lots more golf to get wear on two of these gloves to compare the glove on/off every shot and the glove on at first tee and off at last cup comparison.  No perceptible wear of any kind after 27 shots and 24 glove on/off cycles.  The three difference was after the second hole I found it was so natural to go from chipping to putting without glove removal that I actually forgot to do the removing from chipper to on for putter.  😕

I'm digging the gloves and the cart!  Those C130 camo bags are cool. What are the two accessories on the tire strut?

The black thing is a shoe brush for clearing tread and cleats.  The silver thing is actually a bike frame LED light that was put there 4 summers ago for a late summer PGA HOPE session that would run into twilight hours because in September the nights come earlier and the parking lot was poorly lit and I wanted something on all my camouflage and black gear to say HEY I"M WALKING HERE! and since I don't ride my bike anymore there was no reason to take them off (one left strut and one on the right).  There is clearance for them with the cart folded so zero intertia to remove them and they actually do get used whenever lumens start to fail and everyone who has seen them on thinks they are a good idea.

This is a very low light photo my friend Nick Martone (PGA HOPE Western NY Ambassador) took with his new iPhone 14 on November 12th, 18th hole at Sheridan Park GC last round of 2022 as we finished up with balls too difficult to see to putt .properly on the green visible in the background.  2 of the foursome's balls hit "toward" the green were not found due to darkness 😥

Next you're probably going to ask me why there is a drink/can holder down on the lower accessory attachment point under the golf bag.  And if you were to ask that, I would answer that when an open sparkling water can (honestly it won't be beer) is in the beverage holder on the push cart handle, the motion of the handle while wheels are going over grass is often sufficient to shake water (or beer) out of the can.  Putting it into the beverage holder on the lowest part of the cart frame between the wheels, the motion is much less and a twisting and no water splashes out.  From experience I know dirt has never gotten into the open can either.

And who drinks an entire can of sparkling water when playing golf, or any other time for that matter?  If not drinking while walking then putting it in the holder makes much more sense when there are many dozens of yards to cover between shots.

The box opened was completely full of good Red Rooster things, gloves, box, sticker/emblem, and a personalized card (more on the card later).

That caddie for the gloves looks really nice. I was looking for something other than the zip lock pouch that comes with Asher gloves, my current glove favorite. I checked out their glove caddy, Granted it's a nice leather caddie but not $135 nice. But based on the tests here, I may have to switch brands.

Awesome!! I, too, find Kerry's info pretty illuminating - I've been "M/L or L" as long as I've been buying gloves, and I realistically need to be M-Cadet.

Is the idea to buy them on the small side because they'll stretch into an optimal fit, or that as a general rule glove fit should be tighter than most choose? 🤔

My only issue with gloves is the cost… I’m not paying $15-$20 a glove when I go through 10-15 of them in a season due to the extreme heat and humidity producing a ton of sweat. I just can’t see spending $300 a year on gloves. I’ll watch Red Rooster for 1/2 off sales!!!

The consult I had with @red rooster golf was the small side to stretch is for leather gloves that do stretch as you wear them.  It is not really practical with artificial materials that will not stretch more than they are designed to do.  So...

For a Leather glove - YES get them smaller so they mold to the hand and become a second skin without bunching and becoming a saggy loose fit once they do stretch as they will.

For an Other Than Leather glove - NO get them as they fit comfortable as they are not going to mold any better to the hand than what they will at the first fitting.

What I got as the take-away for the glove fitting, regardless of what glove you are buying, get them out and try them on because even for one brand, one design, one size there are slight variations in stitching the panels together that change the shape of the glove and how the panels go together by often an assembly line of sewers (seamstress not plumbing) who become the expert and best for a particular line of stitching on each glove made.

With the fit I am curious about how long it takes for it to stretch out. It does feel nice on the hand.

Sometimes that is limited to the words that are chosen and strung together to create images and convey complex ideas through nothing more than letters grouped together in a particular order and that to me is one of life's greatest miracles.

So anyone can write a review if the happen to get the letters grouped in the right order 🤪

Either way,   you are providing great insight into golf gloves and how to make them work better for the golfer.     After listening to the Forum Call with Red Rooster,   I am now more picky about my gloves and notice when they don't fit correctly and when the club isn't firmly held.

Is the idea to buy them on the small side because they'll stretch into an optimal fit, or that as a general rule glove fit should be tighter than most choose? 🤔

I think most golfers buy a glove that is to big. They all stretch to some extent at least that has been my experience with gloves I have worn in the past. The Sussex and I think all the RR gloves are leather so I'd expect some stretching.

I am trying to hold off one of my observations for the final review. I think I'll wait at least for now

Since a majority are being fit into those smaller gloves, do you have any issue with fully closing the strap to secure it? One of my biggest problems with gloves is that I can fit into a XL, albeit is a really snug fit, but a lot of times I can't get the strap to fully close and if I do manage to, it feels super tight on the hand. But, maybe that's the correct way to wear them and I'm just not learning that until now. Even though the leather will stretch and sorta form to how you're wearing it, do you find them comfortable right out of the box?

Makes sense.  I got past the "Kirkland" logo some years back, tried their gloves, and really liked them.  Comfort, fit and durability was equal to the FJ's I'd been using most of the time.  I picked size L based on their fitting chart and they felt great at the start but eventually I had to keep drawing the velcro strap further and further as time wore on.  I then tried the ML and they started out a wee on the tight side, but never got stretched out. Some of us are probably just between sizes depending on brand/model; so yes trying them definitely makes sense.

I'm liking what I'm seeing thus far and the tester feedback.  Like @PMookie, these would really have to shine in the durability department for me to get past the cost.  Perhaps they will wear longer... and along the lines of Tony Covey's "true cost" formula, be an equal to or better investment.  This is why we test and why forum tests in particular are the Truth Digest 👍.

So far the putting on the glove with a gap of the hook and loop fastener visible, the fit has not been any kind of issue for grip and swing.  There is actually a comfort, notionally that this is something expected and those who know, namely @red rooster golf have experience I can draw on that it is permissible and completely fine.  So far I agree with that.

I’ve moved to Kirkland as well, finding them new on eBay for pretty cheap. Yeah, I’ll watch this test to see how well they do with sweat durability too.

First Impressions, unboxing, Aesthetics, and Fit and Feel are posted! A lot of pictures for everyone to see. I only have 9 holes on the glove so far and will be getting more rounds under my belt this week so I'll be able to put it through it's paces, so stay tuned!
