Sub 70 Hybrids

I've been looking for a new 3 hybrid or 5 wood, and I've been reading a lot about Sub 70 here.  If you've played their hybrids, what are your thoughts and which model do you prefer?  I'm looking for something to be used primarily for distance and with some forgiveness.  I don't need to work it too much or have it stop on a dime.  Sorry if this topic has been discussed before.

I have the 949X 4 hybrid. I have had since the end of August and the results have been good so far. It’s actually longer than the Cobra 3 hybrid that it replaced. I would say it’s forging too. I hit it about as far toward the toe as you could without missing the ball the day. The shot ended just right if the green pin high. I have the 949x fairway and it is also a very good club.

I have the 5Wood and after a solid run , got the 3Wood. For me has been the best Fairway woods I have had.
They want to go straight, so if you draw and fade, you will need to adjust for the dread straight ball. The ball jumps of the face.

I’m also looking at trying their hybrids (going in for a fitting in June) but am also curious about their Utility Iron.  I know there is a club for every situation and every swing - you just have to find it. I’m just curious if anyone has tried or compared both and what you saw as the strength vs weakness between them. Understand everyone is different - but curious.  My current cobra hybrids love to hook (seems to be a repeatable experience for many hybrids)

The Sub 70 939x and 949x hybrids are BOTH excellent.  I have played a 939x 21* 4-hybrid for 2-1/2 years, and although I have replaced it (or so I thought) with a 949x hybrid with the same shaft, playing length, and loft, the 939x keeps finding its way back into my bag.  The weight at the back of the sole on the 939x is slightly out toward the toe, vs in the middle-rear of the sole on the 949x and I find the 939x model to be just a bit more hook-resistant than the 949x model.

DR - Callaway Paradym AI Smoke TD, Newton Motion 4-Dot

4W - Callaway Paradym 3HL, Newton Motion Fairway shaft, 4-Dot

HYB - Paradym X 18*, HZRDUS Smoke Red 80S; Sub 70 949X 21*, same shaft

7W (if played) - Sub 70 849, ProForce Black 80-S

Irons - Callaway Paradym, HZRDUS Silver Gen 4, S-flex

Wedges - Edison 2.0, 53* and 57* (bent to 58*), KBS TGI 100

Putter - (currently in flux, but usually an Evnroll 8V

Ball - Maxfli Tour-X CG (2023)

Bags - Ghost Golf Maverick Black Ops

Cart - MotoCaddy M7 Remote (without the remote)

Spoiler

driver / off the tee is no longer a weakness for me!

I have the 949x 6H and I love it. Easy to get the ball in the air and good ball speed/distance and forgiving enough on Mishits. I really like that it comes with 3 different weights that are easily swapped out. Originally I was hitting it longer than expected and my gapping was a mess so I put the heavy weight in and I’m hitting it higher and around the 190yard number I want

Me winning isn’t, you do

Has anyone tried changing out the included weights in the 949x hybrid?  Did you see changes to ball flight?  I understand the changes that come from moving weight heel to toe w a driver - but not sure I understand the concept of just making the center back weight port lighter or heavier…

Similarly, I understand the idea behind the closed or open hosel settings, but not really the upright vs standard….

I play the 939X 3 hybrid and love it. It is my fairway finder on shorter par 4s. It also plays well out of the rough. I also play the 639 CB Forged Irons and love them as well.

I put in the heavier weight and got a little bit higher ball flight. I also like the feel of the heavier head. I wasn’t having any problems with the original setup. I was just experimenting and so far like the results.
