Nice to see him finally exposed as a toxic bum.  After watching him in Jacksonville, I feel bad for players who wasted a year of their careers following him.

... Yea, it's one thing to abuse college kids and quite another to try it with a Pro athlete trying to make a living. I am a little shocked someone didn't just kick his azz in Jacksonville.

With the possible exception of Utah, an argument can be made that he has not left a program or franchise better than he found it. Just a detestable scumbag of a human being. The sad thing is there will always be another place that looks past all the bad for the allure of what could be.

... The really sad part is there are plenty more like him. I had one great coach in my athletic career and I played basketball, baseball and football through high school. I of course followed my sons athletic career never missing any games but one HS freshman away game when I was working on a TV show, and we both had more bad coaches than good coaches.

... I was very lucky when my Dad was gone of all of my youth doing 2 tours in VN as well as several years of training with Special Forces and my very first football coach became a surrogate Dad for me. He had two small children of his own that were 1 and 3 and I was in the 3rd grade and had me over for dinner, took me to away high school football games and provided the kind of guidance only a good man can provide. My 3rd year with him he let me call my own plays. I never had another really good coach after that. Plenty of average not good and not bad but no more great coaches. It just shows what a positive difference a good coach can make in a young mans life or a negative difference a bad coach can make. 

... My first year moving up to the varsity team as a sophomore, we had a live practice game at the stadium with refs and I was running the scout team. Very first play from the 20, I dropped back, scrambled and took off when every WR was covered and scored an 80 yd TD. Head Coach calls everyone in and says "That's it, we are done for the day". Defensive team captain says "what do you mean DONE Coach?" and he says well if Sam can score against you we have no chance against a real QB. Thankfully I always had an unshakable confidence but I still went from elation to being absolutely furious. I took it out on the defense and torched them the entire practice game.

... Came to find out from the OC that the Head Coach hated me because I was "too cocky and needed to be completely broken and then built back up." LOL, just what you want to do at any level, tear down a QB's confidence. If the starter hadn't torn his ACL and the 2nd string QB had been even reasonably effective, I would never have played that year.

... Wtf!?! I actually played a round of golf yesterday. Maybe my 4th round in almost a month. Only one 5 on the scorecard and would like to play that hole again. Good drive and 7 wood but the pin was just over a tier and I had maybe a 40 yd pitch that I flighted low with my 51* landing just below and should run up the slope. I just clipped it too well and it checked just below the slope, rolling up a few feet then back down. As soon as I hit it I thought "that's just about perfect" and was surprised it checked up so quickly. If I could do it again I would play the same shot with my Pw, landing a little shorter with less pin and more run. 

... Otoh I had 2 birdie putts of around 25 feet that fell in the hole so my good breaks outweighed my bad break. And the easy #3 hole is a par 3 with deep bunkers but a pretty flat green and par should almost be a given. Just a little wind in my face so I flighted a 7 iron instead of a full 8 iron and the ball barely glanced off the hosel and squirted a little right under the only little tree on the hole I have never even noticed and most definitely should not be in play.

... Easy! Swing within yourself. 240 in the fairway is better than 260 in the W's (woods, water). Take more club and hit more greens. Embrace the mental adjustment that you will make every putt you face. You're welcome.

... Never thought I would say this because I "thought" I knew what I was getting into when I moved to Phoenix. The last 3 summers were hot and pretty much what I expected. Probably missed 15 days due to the heat every summer. But this summer has just been insanely HOT and I am guessing I have missed playing at least 40 days due to excessive heat. Played at 105* Friday and was happy to get it in before 113-113-115-115-111 and finally dropping to 106* later this week. It is really trying my patience.

It’s been a terrible Summer in a number spots around the globe this year. 

Hopefully the weather gets a little better for you so you can get out more often in September.   I love golf in Scottsdale but I have only gone in the Winter.

Even with dry heat I can’t imagine playing above 100F. Tried it a few times in Vegas in August and I think we started at 8 am so we had most of our round below 95F and I felt sorry for the caddies and staff working the course.

... How great is this game? We have 20+ index golfers diving into the numbers for the '23 Ball Test and trying to decide what new ball to try or which ball they will adamantly stick with. This coming from players that rarely hit the same shot twice. The level of interest and participation when it probably makes very little difference is beyond cool, because hopefully one day it will make a difference. You just don't see folks buying a new Nissan Sentra and agonizing over which performance tires/brakes they should be using for their commute to work and the trip to the grocery store. But us golfers that love equipment are all just a little bit crazy. 

... The last thing I need is another driving iron but I saw a T200 2 iron yesterday that just won't recede from my mind.

The agonizing over which ball to use never really goes away, I fear. No matter how low my handicap drops, I’m still convinced there is a better ball for my game, I just need to find it.

 

I’ll be testing the 4i version soon. During the fitting, it was effortless easy distance.

It is relatively easy for me;  look at midspeed driver table and find balls with high spin.

I have a saved eBay search for a lefty 2 iron that I really don't need, but if I can find a good deal on one... why not? In my head I'm imagining all the good shots I'd hit with it. But in reality, they'll probably end up being 100 yard worm burners.

... Here's the thing and the thing is this. I probably can't do any better than the UDi TP 18* 2 iron I am playing now. Hollow head, slot in the sole for forgiveness with low strikes and stoopid long when hit dead center. If it had never been released and was coming out right now, I would probably be all over it. But it's at least 6 or 7 years old and in golf/dog years that's like 79 yrs old I think.
