Something about the early season and wanting to crush them all is a bad mix for me. 6 1-putts with 3 lip-outs sounds like you are getting dangerous with the LAB putter man! I also seem to do better on quicker greens. Keep it up! Yeah, I think today was just a perfect storm culminating from the last two weeks. I haven't been able to get out to play due to the temps in the morning, so I probably got a little too anxious with wanting to kill the ball down the middle like a did a few weeks ago. I did hit one great one (275 into the wind on No. 9 that led to a pretty stress-free par), but otherwise it just didn't work for me today. The putter is fantastic - I two-putted for par on two of the par 3s from outside of 50 feet, birdied No. 1 from 10 feet and saved par on No. 8 from 15 feet going downhill. It helps that these greens are much newer than my home course and they don't have all of the subtle breaks from 50-plus years of wear and tear. If the putt looks straight, it's likely straight! Popular Post GolfSpy_SHARK
What a beautiful day it was today. Was windy again and gusts are probably in the 35 range with a steady 20 mph. was not able to play 2 ball today as I was paired up with a 3some that were all retired and worked the course (they get 2 free rounds a week what a deal! On top of their pay as just being a starter). went 43/37 on the front I didn’t hit a single fairway with 2 penalties and 4 bogeys/2 doubles but ended on a beautiful bird on one of my favorite par 5s around. Any other day no wind I would have reached from there out crushed the back 9 with 2 bogeys and ended on a bird another par 5. beautful thing is both of those holes were into the wind. The front could have been really bad but I scrambled my @$$ off and it paid off (no 3 putts and I had great second shots off poor tee shots) Beginning of the round we got started a little late as I am pretty sure @Apolloshowl dog was on the loose on the first tee box. MaxEntropy
Other than two holes, it was a standard round for me, but OH BOY were those two holes an adventure: +7 on on those two holes alone (+6 on the rest). Driver was ok on all but those two, where I somehow pulled snap-hook out of somewhere. Compounded mistakes (like skulled wedge over the green and into the woods). The triple could have been worse had a decent chip not been close enough for an easy tap-in. Thankfully I finished par, bogey, par to make it almost tolerable. I watched my 16 yr old daughter do this exact thing when we played last weekend. There is a par 3 on our home course that has a 100yd long green; which is about 20 feet wide in the widest spots. It's shaped like a giant hourglass. Wind was blowing into her at about 35mph and from on the green, she played a hybrid bump and run from 100ft, to 2 ft and made the putt for a par. I asked her why and she said " I didn't think I could hit a putt that far into the wind and get it on the right level." Brilliant play. She played the last three holes 1 over. I was really impressed with her thought process. tony@CIC, MattF, cksurfdude and 4 others 5 2 Quote Mizuno ST190, 9 degrees, Fujikura Ventus Black 6S Mizuno ST190, 14 degrees, Fujikura Ventus Black 7S Mizuno ST200 , 18 degrees, Fujikura Ventus Blue 7X Miura CB 301, 4 iron, Fujikura Ventus 9x Miura CB 301, 5-PW Nippon Modus 120S Miura K Grind, 52, 54 and 58, Nippon Modus 130s hand ground by Usher Golf Miura KM 006 LH

I somehow managed to scrape or a 51 with 5 fairways, 0 greens, and 16 putts. The fairways hit is a bit misleading, most of my drives lacked any real distance leaving me at a disadvantage. Had 3 penalties for lost balls, one of the tee, one in a pond, and one on an approach. My approach game was horrible, lots of thins and chunks. I had to laugh on the par 4 fifth hole when I topped a 5 wood then proceeded to top a wedge that rolled, somehow, on the green. I can't say I scored well on that hole as I lost a drive right. My short game saved my bacon until the last hole. I had 4 one putts and 4 two putts up until that point. On 9 I hit a lousy drive, a pretty good 5 wood, then thinned a wedge 30 feet over the green. My next chip was cuffed and then I thinned another one that stayed on the green, but left me with a 40+ footer. I three putted from there to score a quad. I can't complain, it was a beautiful, overcast day and the course was playing decently well considering the rain we got last night. It was CPO, so that helped me get some exercise in. Kenny B
Got called yesterday to play the Wolf game at the other course in town. My shoulder is still sore from moving furniture, but 70º sunny and a 5 mph breeze... perfect. Wish the course was nice. They punched the greens about the same time as our course; ours is completely healed, theirs is not! I would guess the green speed was about a 7. I had four 3-putts and several chips and 2-putts; couldn't get the ball to the hole... no one could!! I was the big winner today!! 6 Quarters!! The first 4 holes each of us Wolf'ed, and we each lost, so quarters changed hands and we started #5 all even again. I was the only one to get a birdie, and I got two of them!! Drove the ball on a short par 4 #9 to 50y from an elevated green; can't see the green surface and pond behind a shallow green; 60º to 6 feet and I didn't leave that putt short!! The other birdie was on the par 3 #13, and I was last to tee off. The first guy to tee off hit a poor shot and was going to pick a partner for the hole; 2nd guy missed the green; 3rd guy hit short of the green but it rolled on but the pin was in the middle leaving a long putt. He picked that guy on the green; usually the smart play. I hit a nice shot pin high left about 5 feet from the cup. His partner missed; I make!! I never made a double or worse and shot 39/40 = 79. On that course missing as many putts as I did because of green conditions... I'll take it!! However, I wasn't the low round; one guy shot 39/38=77. He's 77 years old and has shot 71 already this year. tony@CIC, sirchunksalot, BKordon and 5 others 6 2 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

sp0rtsfan86
The first week or two of April was really warm and dry. Since that point, it's been wet and cold outside of a few days. Last week our 2nd week of league was played in drizzle/light rain and temps around 50. Winds were gusting to 25 which didn't help either although my game was way, way off. I shot a horrendous 52 including hitting the ball off the edge of the club twice, dunking two in the water on a hole and lipping some edges. Tuesday I had a plan at the range -- try to take the club back inside to feel a hook swing. Ended up not using that swing thought for long instead letting the club rotate more on the way back. On the course, I fought my swing much of the day but my misses were playable but a full club short. Ended up also hitting a bunch of 4-5 footers that I had no confidence in two weeks ago. I parred out the last 3 holes including hitting a 5 foot downhiller that either goes in or off the green. That gave me average and a point. Luckily the weather is going to be warmer and hopefully I'll be able to play more than just once a week on league night. tony@CIC, MattF, cnosil and 1 other 4 Quote Driver: Epic Flash 12 Degree Wood: GBB 3 Wood Hybrid: Razr 4 hybrid stiff stock shaft. twyatt700
Played a sub 60 mintue round at a local executive course close to my house yesterday and through up a disappointing 6 over 37 on the par 31. Still my biggesting issue has been making birdie putts had a 10 footer on the first that just missed and that trend continued throughout. I did not hit my hybrids well which is an anomoly for my. This is a short course so I decided to play without the driver in the bag to get some longer approached into greens instread of just going driver wedge on every hole. I was cruising until the 7th where I went in the water and the tripled on a 170 par 3 with a 3 putt, then followed up the 8th with a 3 putt after an awesome lob wedge short over a bunker on a tucked pin following a smoked 4w on the 320 par 4. Finished with a tap in par on the 9th. Otherwise I felt really good on my approach shots, I think I just need keep working on the irons and putting. Wedges were great, approach was great, driving has been solid. Looking to put together a full round to get in the 70's and hopefully shoot par this summer. cksurfdude, cnosil, Vegan_Golfer_PNW and 4 others 7 Quote Ping G430 Max 9* turned up to 10* in draw setting X-Stiff Ping Tour Chrome 2.0 60 Srixon ZX 3w Ventus Velocore Blue 7s Ping G425 5w X-Stiff Ping Tour 70 Srixon ZX5 4-6 Modus Tour 105 Stiff Srixon ZX& 7-PW Modus Tour 105 Stiff RTX Zipcore 50* 54* 58* TrueTemper Dynamic Gold Spinner Phantom X5 Putter Ball: Srixon Z-Star Diamond <>

CarlH
Mental errors on #1 and #18 led to doubles. Shot an 83. Ever have one of those days when you just didn't feel it? That was today. Swing felt off all day -- a few good ones here and there, but mostly just lackluster. Played as a 3-some and pretty much waited on the groups in front of us for most of the round. Played the round in 3 1/2 hours, so it definitely wasn't a slow round.....just felt that way. sirchunksalot, tony@CIC, MattF and 2 others 4 1 Quote Driver: Black Ops 12* with Cypher 50 5.0 Fairway: Black Ops 3 wood with Cypher 50 5.0 Hybrids: Black Ops 19* and 22* with Cypher 50 5.0 Irons: Gen6 6, 7, 8, 9, W, G with Cypher 50 5.0 Wedges: Sugar Daddy II 52* and 56* with Cypher 50 5.0 Putter: DF 2.1 -- BGT Stability shaft @ 34" Ball: Tour, Chrome Tour, Pro V1 Other: C10 Bag, glove My Photography can be seen at Smugmug
Popular Post pulledabill
Played 36 at 2 different courses today. 85 at 1st course with 4 penalty strokes and a double par on a par 3. ouch...Struggled off the tee 2nd 18 waa a course Ive never broke 80 at but today I shot 78. Tee shots wish driver were a mix but no penalties. Had 3 birds and 1 double. Made a few putts today, no 3 putts over 36 holes, and hit my irons well. Once I figure out my driver and get my wedge play in shape my scores will come down. Popular Post Rickp
OK I give up, might have to practice short game. Wednesday was a train wreck!! Washed my clubs and couldn’t do a thing with them, Driver was inconsistent, irons distance OK but my “towards” was all over the place. Putting horrendous, 3 putted 3 greens and greens were nice, fast. Hope Bacon Boyz Friday can get me back!! Popular Post azstu324
I'll hang my hat on an 82 at Red Mountain Ranch. Greens were rock hard, lightning fast, and small. It's a Pete Dye course. Not extremely lengthy but it will humble a man quickly. Lots of tricky stuff around the perimeter of the greens i.e. moguls, bunkers, plants, railroad ties, etc to quicky turn a decent shot onto a horrible one. tony@CIC, NRJyzr, sirchunksalot and 8 others 11 Quote PXG 0311 Gen 5 9°/ Fujikura MotoreX F1 6X F6 3 Wood 14* / Kuro Kage Silver 65X F8 6 wood 20* / Fujikura MotoreX F3 6S RADSpeed Hybrid 24* TS1 4-GW / FCM Precision 6.5 Rifle TSW Wedge - 56/12 EAS 1.0 / Grip master 2.0 MAXFLI Tour CG
chisag
... I m surprised at the amount of rabbits I see daily. I grew up in the country and never saw as many as here in Phoenix on golf courses. One tee box at Aguila has at least 10-15 daily on the far back tips that are never used. I almost always eat an apple and break up the core and distribute it on that tee box for a rabbit treat. tony@CIC, sirchunksalot, MattF and 6 others 8 1 Quote Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... I almost always eat an apple and break up the core and distribute it on that tee box for a rabbit treat. My High School mascot was a jackrabbit . Kinda humiliating when all of our rivals were "Toros", Tigers, Mountain Lions, Warriors, Hawks, etc.. but it was more than fitting for our geographic. Now just wait until you pull up to a tee box to find a javelina that doesn't feel like going anywhere. That happened to us once out in Gold Canyon. We ended up hitting from the ladies tees because we knew who was boss in that moment. Those rabbits are crafty man. They know golfers are usually walking around with stuff like apples, granola bars, sunflower seeds, or other little munchie snacks. Birds are even worse. We've had crows and even hawks fly off with bags of jerky, seeds, etc that are tucked in the basket inside a grocery bag. In the moment it's like wow look at that bird.. and then you're like wait.. gimme back my Jack Links you turd!
