I’ve been playing the original CBX wedges (54&58 DG steel) for a long time, and decided to upgrade. I mentioned a few days ago that I ordered a CBX Zipcore 52* with a Rotex shaft and a 58* RTX Zipcore with DG Spinner.

I’m playing irons now with a 46* set AW, so I figured I would try a 46-52-58 wedge setup. My AW is my 100 yard club, and my CBX 54 goes about 75-80. I bought the 52 hoping for 85-90 yards?
They haven’t arrived yet, and I’m already second guessing myself. The 58* would be used almost only out of bunkers (ours are very hard packed, so I got the low bounce 6* version) and now I’m worried about not having a full swing club I trust with more than 52* loft…

I use my 54* for full swings and longer bunker shots, so my question is, does the 52-58 thing make sense, or would I be better off with 52-56 (I would feel confident hitting a full shot with the more versatile 56-10) or just going 54-58 again and hitting 3/4 shots with my set AW?

I would love to hear your opinions and advice with this, and telling  me about your setup and why you chose it would be helpful also. Thanks in advance guys!

Sorry can’t help you at all.  I’m just as confused as you although my current setup is seemingly working for me……that’s right now, tomorrow could be different.

Just got fitted for driver. It all brands, different shafts. Guess what? Best drives with all clubs for me where 280 + yds, similar spin, launch, etc.  No head stuck out as clear winner. So new Cobra ltdx $300. Saved enough off this years driver model $600 for new ltdx 3 wood $199, hybrid $159. They did move tensi av raw white shaft from the LS model for me. I was on the cusp of stiff-x stiff, but nearly 60 don't think swing speed will increase, so stayed with stiff. The av raw just felt better than project x rdx black.

Have only bought gloves recently.  A friend gave me a Calloway Maverick Driver a few months ago and my distance jumped 20 yards from old Admas Speedline I was using.  Currently thinking about upgrading my irons from the TaylorMade R-7 I am currently playing.

Would love to hear more as to what you think about the MLM2 pro!

So far it has lived up to all the hype, im glad I pulled the trigger when I found it in stock.

So mini review… took a little while to set up/ connect and update but that is not a negative, it was probably my home Wi-Fi. Once it was connected it was very easy to use and simple to navigate. My first session was with an 8iron I normally play a stock 8 iron between 160-165yds, the session was about 8-10 shots and my average carry distance was 162, when I saw that I knew I could trust it, my 7iron avg is 173, 5wood avg 238. Spin rate is also in the same window as when I was fit on a track man at club champion. I have played 1 round of sim golf on the Rapsodo and it was a little cartoonish but pretty spot on. I played an old home course and hit all my stock shots that I would have hit if I was actually there, and all the bunkers and creeks and ponds were in the right spots, it was awesome! I did have trouble with the Rapsodo not picking up a lot of my chip shots, I think the best way to fix that is to just hit more greens lol. Overall I have really enjoyed the time with it.

I've been rebuilding my set over the last 9 months and my most recent purchase was my beautiful Bettinardi BB1-LN with KBS GPS Tour shaft. This thing is lights out. I didn't miss a single put from 5-10-15 or 20 feet. Straight into the cup. Did 10 balls from each distance. I'm ready to go low and stay there.

If I can ask what was the tip size needed to install your KBS? I am looking at getting a INOVAI 6.0 and wanted to put a CT Tour on it.

I'm doing something pretty similar. I've really enjoyed my CBX Zipcore 54 and 60, but I am trying to get my gapping a little more efficient.  My set AW is 48, so I am adding a CBX Full Face2 50 degree to replace that AW, then replacing my 60 with a 58 Jaws I found on CPO.  While I really like the Cleveland lob wedge, I've playing around with a Jaws 64 for fun and liked the feel, so I went with them for my 58.  So new set-up will be set PW (at 43), then CBX 50 and 54 and Jaws 58.

I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about this book, and I ordered it on Amazon this morning.
I’m going to be unable to play for at least another couple of weeks due to a lower leg injury, so I might as well see if this helps me  when I’m able to get back out there.

I really enjoyed the book. I think it's a bit different from other golf books I've read on that the advice is easy to digest and for lack of a better term, practical. There's some great advice in there on managing expectations, strategy, and how to have a better approach to the game mentally.

@Grand Stranded, I hope the rehab goes well for you and from the profile picture, you're a lot better looking than I thought. 😂

My very old, current and soon to be replaced iron set came with a pw, gw, and sw lofted sr 45*, 50* and 54*.  I added a 58* LB specialty wedge for use around the green and where the terrain is hard under a thin layer of grass that is found on the fringe or apron area of the green.  I also use it for bunkers where the loose layer of sand is very thin and packed underneath.

I do full-swing shots and ~3/4 swing with my 45, 50 and 54 wedges, although limited full swing with the 54 as a full swing with the 54 is equivalent to my 3/4 swing 45, and I love the 3/4 swing shots.

I had a similar convo with my fitter regarding whether to but set wedges or another brand and his response was to go with the set since I do full swing, and keep my 58 for around the green.  Not exactly the same circumstance as you have, but similar use of wedges.  I think you have 2 options depending if you can make an exchange.  The first would be to keep the 46 (I think you are) and add a 50 and keep the 54 and the 58.  Alternatively. add a new 50 (maybe bend to 51) and add the 56.  This gives you 3 full swing wedges and one specialty (58).  In both cases, the 58 is a must keep.

If I can ask what was the tip size needed to install your KBS? I am looking at getting a INOVAI 6.0 and wanted to put a CT Tour on it.

Absolutely man! Thanks for reaching out to connect about this. The tip size for the BB1-LN is .370 all Bettinardi putters after I think 2017...might be 2016...all use .370 tip on them. I know there's been some confusion in different threads about this and I had the same question previously.

Bought a lot so far this season.  A couple new SM9 wedges.  TSR3 driver head.  New golf shoes and plenty of shirts (Rhoback and Greyson).

Tried a LAB Mezz putter, but just didn't love it.  I could feel a bit of an easier putting stroke to make when using it, but it didn't really translate to anything better and I didn't love the look of it.  Struggled with speed control as well, but that's also somewhat the norm.

Got these heads in yesterday. Waiting for these to show up must be what the kids feel like waiting for Santa😖. Damn near lost my mind tracking FedEx. Paired them with some KBS C-Taper Lite 110's for some satin on satin goodness.

For those who don't know about Maltby, they are probably the least marketed DTC brand out there but no doubt one of the oldest and best that you can get your hands on.

Gorgeous looking setup Stu! that satin on satin is luscious!!

Maltby makes some seriously nice heads. I'm glad they don't have a gigantic advertising and marketing budget; keeps them affordable.

If you're into club building these should be near the top of your list.

Sine I have gone to lighter shafts in the irons and wedges needed to find a 50* that would fit the rest of the bag. New Jaws Raw on the way to go with the two already in the bag.

My latest purchase was a ZU85 3i with a Tensei Blue 80 TX. Hit absolute rockets with it when i square it up, but i want a heavier shaft in it i think.

Going from x100s to that is tough. Might throw some lead tape on the shaft and see if that helps at all.

Not a full-on purchase, but definitely a step in that direction -- I placed an order for Sub70 Demo 699 Pro V2 Irons. They are on backorder for the shaft/flex that I want, but very excited nonetheless!
