Shaft was an educated guess so I’m excited to hit it when it comes in and see how it does. I also am about to order a 5i from Sub70. What were you using before and how do you like them so far? Before I had been using some 2004 big berthas that I got when first started playing 2 years ago. I’m 6’4” with a high swing speed and just were not suited for me at all so it’s not really a fair comparison. I also have a set of Mizuno MP 33 blades I was given for free but I’m not good enough for that yet haha. I got fitted over the phone with Sub70 and found I needed +1” and 3 degrees upright. They recommended the 699 pros which are the players distance irons with the Dynamic Gold X100 shaft. They also just so happened to have a set someone returned with almost all the specs I needed so they bent them 1 degree more. Great customer service. I love the feel and get crazy distance. My 6i goes 210 and has a medium ball flight. My one complaint is that I sometimes get a random flyer which I’ve heard is a somewhat common downside to players distance irons. Plenty of forgiveness tho which I still need so I’ll take the occasional flyer. He’s used the same set for decades and I’ve brought it up that he deserves something more modern to make the game more enjoyable. So after some searching, keeping in mind a budget I went with the Tour Edge E723 6-PW. These will be perfect for him and much deserved.
