Here I am at 11:15 at night and I just sat down to check in. I can't wait to be moved in and unpacked. Looking forward to some new courses! I hope everything goes smoothly with the move, Tom. We own an older mobile home and that old furnace is sorta pieced together. Not a lot of people work on the older furnaces anymore. But we do have a fall back we do have the woodstove was in here when we bought the place 22 years ago. My central air went out 2 years ago right when I got hurt so we have used "redneck ACs" as in window units. When I recieved my settlement last year we checked around and decided that it was cheaper to do some work instead of move. And really for us there was no where else we wanted to go. In the last 3 months we have had more insulation and new Vinyl siding installed. One of my golf buds is semi retired and is a carpenter handy man by trade. He works by himself and did not take on the siding job. I did have him rebuild the front porch including the wheelchair ramp. The ramp was here when we bought the place. In fact legally it did not cost me to re do the ramp because that came out of the medical fund money set aside seperately for medical supplies etc related to my accident Since we are staying I think I am going to spend the money and put in a central heat and A/C system. Oh trust me I will keep and still use the wood stove. Before spending $$ on a central unit I would compare the cost of a couple mini split units, (especially if any ductwork needs replacing). There are mini split compressors that can supply multiple air handlers so you can have a "zoned" system if you want. That is what we are doing for the shore house (small, 2 br cottage). It is an easier install since getting the replacement central air handler in the attic space would be a big issue for us. tony@CIC
This should probably be in a new thread called 'painfull and $$$ holiday travel' We drove back to Ohio the week before Thanksgiving. Left early Saturday morning and got to our Ohio Condo late Sunday afternoon. Not to bad - but it was interesting to see the vast difference in gas prices as we drove through Florida, Georgia, Tennessee , Kentucky and finally into Ohio. Sometimes the price varied by .60/gal between exits in the same community. It was my grandson's birthday (2 yrs old) party on Monday. The week was pretty smooth including running several long distance errands (hence the drive vs. fly). On the way back: we left early Saturday morning (we time it to get through major cities early in the am). Overall first day not too bad except for the almost bumper to bumper traffic at 70+ mph. We stayed at a different hotel in Dalton Ga. because the regular hotel we stay at jacked up it's price from $130 to $200 (veteran rate). Nice going Best Western, we'll be sure never to stay there again even if their price is competitive. Atlanta bypass early Sunday morning was a breeze - then we got to within 50 miles of Gainesville. At that point our navigation was predicting a 4:00 arrival time home - well just before the traffic became more stop then go. The stop and go was all the way to Tampa. We finally arrived at 7:00 in pouring rain. So much for holiday travel - next time Facetime will work just fine thank you. Between my house and SC 544 which is about 4 miles there are 3 different Circle K stores. Gas prices vary between them sometimes by .10 per gallon. No one can explain it. Basically what little gas we use we go to Kroger because their gas is always cheaper and we are also on the points thing. Since we use just a little gas the prices had fallen here the week before Thanksgiving. We had like .20 per gallon discount. took both vehicles over and filled up. Not sure on the Caddy mileage yet this was the first fill up with it since I have had it 2 months. According to the trip odometer I have drove it only 200 miles since I got it. I got approxametely 16 MPG here around town which is about what I averaged with the rust Benz. Even though I do not drive far we after all have a lot of stop and go traffic As far as Thanksgiving travel we did not go anywhere. No reason for us. I have no living close relatives and my wife only has her brother who we have not heard from in over 5 years now. Besides in our trucking days we have done enough holiday travel for 3 lifetimes. But I can see it for others like you and I symphatize with you and those poor folks trapped in airports Kenny B, tony@CIC, Rickp and 2 others 5 Quote Driver ---- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Speeder 565 R flex- - 7W TM V-Steel UST Pro Force Gold 65R---- Irons 5 thru PW 1980 Macgregor VIP Hogan Apex steel shafts--- SW -- Cleveland 588 56* S-400 Sensicore --- LW Vokey 58* SM5 L grind--- Putter 1997 Scotty Cameron Santa Fe Fluted Bulls Eye shaft--- Bag TM Flex Lite Stand---- Yeah I know only 11 clubs G

For install it is about 50-60 hours of work to complete, then the event starts and for this one it is 10 days of 4 games per day. 8:00 12:00, 16:00, 20:00, which means we start at 5:30 each morning and end our days at 23:00. Here in Finland we are at a sports school in the middle of nowhere. Closest store is 5km away so we eat, sleep and work within the same complex. Some other events there is a day or half day that is slow, but for areas I want to sight see I will normally book off a couple days before or after the event to do such. Popular Post Tom the Golf Nut
On 11/27/2022 at 11:16 PM, Tom the Golf Nut said: Crunch time..... I've been packing for over a week. I got the large POD full and it gets picked up tomorrow. I close on my current home on Wednesday and close on our new residence on Thursday. I have to be out by Sunday. Twenty-Eight foot U-Haul is set for Friday for the furniture. If all goes well, we should be on the road either Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. I haven't been on a golf course in three weeks. Here I am at 11:15 at night and I just sat down to check in. I can't wait to be moved in and unpacked. Looking forward to some new courses! Update: I now reside in NC. Pulled out of TN Saturday evening and got to the new house at midnight. Unloaded the truck and POD already. Furniture is in place and now it's all about the endless number of boxes to go through. Good news is the past owner left the pool table that was less than a year old. Bad news is that was where my simulator was going to go. Current plans for the simulator are for it to sit in the box. But I have thoughts for an outdoor area once spring gets here. This winter will involve a lot of unpacking and additional purging. I'm feeling a double garage man cave in the near future. I'm happy to hear you and your family made it safely to your new home. Hopefully Ace has a nice yard to run around in and you'll get some enjoyment out of the pool table. That's a nice bonus if you're going to have to give up space for the simulator for a while. cksurfdude, rkj427, Tom the Golf Nut and 2 others
ole gray
I had something happen today to my 7 iron that was weird and comical at the same time. I'm pretty strong for my age however never in my wildest dreams would I believe what happened to my shaft. I have a short back swing and really torque it up for the downswing. I pulled out my 7 iron, took my normal swing and the next thing I knew part of the iron was flying down the fairway about 100 yds. One of my partners saw it and yelled out, "Beast Mode"! The part that flew down the fairway ended sticking up like an arrow that had fallen from the sky. I've had a graphite shaft in a driver snap on me but never an iron steel shaft.
