I have been hitting the ball really far (for me) lately. But I am only hitting a few fairways. I have noticed that I am carrying it about 290 which gets me over all of the trouble. I don't know if it is good to be long and slightly crooked or shorter and in the trouble zone?

If you go by the theories of Mark Broadie and Scott Fawcett the farther you hit it the better.

James Sieckman too

Get it as close to the green as safely possible.

Layup distance is bunk

I retract my statement. I actually like playing out of the rough. It forces me into a certain type of shot, doesn't give me an option.

I rarely lay up on purpose. If I can see the green I am going for it. Even if that means driver off the deck.

I am pretty handy with my wedges around the green, so I'm not too worried about missing the green. But there will be more on that in the XW-1 Review.

How long were the courses in 1983? I just checked my guy Seve's driving stats for 1983.

He averaged 264.6 off the tee. His 56° wedge was his 100 yard club... quite a disparity there?

I notice some people ‘survive' on online forums. And others just don't.And many times the ‘nice' or ‘helpful' members tend not too make it.

At times it gets ugly and many leave.Usually it's over forums that specializes in giveaways prizes and meet and greets.Than it becomes this huge popularity contest.Ive always felt bad for people that post long well drawn out posts or threads and never get a response. But than you'll get the extreme active posters who will post garbage and get responses from all their online buddies. If one has to kiss butt too be popular online than consider me gone. And I'm not going to go bat crazy for free giveaways.Nor go all out and meet people online just too be popular on a forum.

Fortunately this forum is chalk full of nice and helpful members, who've been around a longtime.

Here it's the one who are looking fo be argumentative for no reason and disrespectful, that don't survive very long.

A online fora is what it is. Either it works for you or it doesn't. Everyone has many interests in their lives. Find an different interest than a golf forum if it isn't your fancy. I'm sure their are millions of forums on any topic you can think off. Find the one you gel with and makes you feel comfortable getting involved with. This place is great for so many reasons. But if it doesn't work for you than leave and find another. There is no pressure here too attend anything or buy anything. All we ask is be respectful and enjoy the ride

Keep it in the short stuff

I have never been involved in a forum deeply enough for popularity purposes.Nor travel the country for meet and greets.Ive never run into a golf forum that had that.If there is one, than I never heard of it.

That pitching wedge from the rough yesterday was pretty sweet. In my mind, because it is so rare to see him draw the ball like that.

Try having a conversation with your 90 yr old MIL...

"Mom, what are you watching (on TV)?"

Her to me, "What!!!???"

"What are you watching on TV?"

Her to me, "I don't remember."

"What did you do today?"

Her to me, "I don't remember."

"Did you eat anything today?"

Her to me, "I don't remember."

There are days when she'll record a movie on TV, and she'll watch it 4 times in a row. Not because she really likes the movie, but when she finishes watching it, she doesn't remember that she watched it or even what it was.

Dimentia sucks my friends. Totally sucks. You have a human being in the flesh that has no memory of anything, and is completely worthless for anything but breathing oxygen. Pfft, maybe I should have posted this in the rant thread.

This past weekend was the 2018 Water Follies on the Columbia River... Unlimited Hydroplane racing.  Perfect place for 50,000 people to sit on the banks of the river, getting sunburned, and having a big party.  Happens every last weekend in July.  Oh, and the temperature is always over 100º
