Good Morning Forum Members and Welcome to:

WEEK 7 of the MyGolfSpy Forum Member Virtual Weekly Championship Tour (VWCT).

I am excited this week to roll out a new enhancement for the weekly scores posting.

You will see a convenient button at the top of this thread and at the bottom of each page in the thread that allows you to "CLICK AND POST" your scores.

image.png

Hopefully this will make it easier for the members to post their scores, and with the great work by our technical team, the scores will be automatically and immediately be updated on the leaderboard.  ( I have added one test score to open up the leaderboard... Once the first official score has been posted, I will remove the test score 🙂 )

Feel free to use the comment section to describe your round, and add as much detail as you want about how you played.  You can also post comments to the thread, just as always.

We have tested this new feature as much as possible, but I'm sure there will be things we didn't think about in testing - so if you have questions, comments or suggestions, feel free to post in the thread or send me a DM and I'll work on it.

I have really enjoyed seeing the rounds posted and love the participation by our members in this Forum Competition.. Let's keep it going and growing!!

Great idea and thank to the technical team.  Can't wait to give it a try later this week.   First part of the week dedicated to serving as an election poll worker and hopefully storm Nicole will stay North.   A round or two should fit somewhere in there!

Course Name Scepter
Gross Score 91
Course Handicap 16
Over/(Under) 19
Net Score to Par 3
Net Score 75
Net Birdies or better 1

Wild day on the course - I shot my best on the front with a 43, but then on the turn (really) bad weather rolled in and our entire group (20 players) struggled big time. I ended up shooting a 48 on the back - which I generally play better and that included penalty strokes for 2 lost balls.  The bad weather was accompanied with wind kicking up - gusting to about 30 and virtually on the nose for the entire back 9.

Drives were spot on both front and back, putting ok, but struggling with my wedges. I probably lost 4 strokes to chunky wedge play.

I think you have couple of mistakes in your score:  Net Score to Par should be +3 and Over/Under should be 19.

Tony, I updated your card.  You found the first glitch in the new form.  The Over/Under should be your gross over or under score.  you entered the net over and it calculated your net score to par as it should... but since you entered 3 over par (gross) then the tool subtracted 16 strokes for your course handicap... it resulted you a net -13.  Which would be an amazing day on the course 🙂 .  Anyway, I edited your post to correct it, and I will have the word "Gross" added to the Over/Under box in the tool.

Sorry for the confusion.

Still shite play. It was really windy so we played the “middle” tees which considerably shortened the course. I was thinking it would make the course easier since I would be hitting my driving iron instead of my normal driver. An actual birdie is definitely something to build on PH.  By the way, you get a 3 (one for the net birdie and 2 for the net eagle) on your posted scores.  You can edit your post and update it when you have a chance.   Do you have another round planned later in the week?  I am living vicariously through you playing LVN!

Thanks for the kind words. I fixed my net birdie score.

I won’t be playing anymore this week since I’ll be flying to Cancun on Thursday (envy me).

I’ll get a couple rounds in next week though. Vegas summers suck big time but the other 8-9 months are very conducive to playing golf. You have to bundle up a little bit when it gets “really” cold but the courses are open year round.

Are 9 hole scores supported?  With the waning daylight and "busy" schedule I'm not sure I'll get to finish the second half.  Maybe on Friday.

Will definitely have a full round in on Sunday, but had to play a bit today.  I think there's a support group out there somewhere for people like us...

We have supported combining 2 nine hole scores as long as they are in the same week. I agree, with the looming darkness getting closer and closer to the time I get home from work .. even weekday 9 hole rounds will be a challenge.

Resorted to playing two 9 hole rounds since it gets dark so early with the time change.

My highlight is no buyer’s remorse after finally getting fitted for a putter. Today was its maiden voyage and I only had one putt get away from me due to user error(pro tip: aim before you putt)! Everything else was on the money.

Going to the Sewanee, TN this week and will play the Course at Sewanee as my VWCT round (I have never seen it before). Should be a good time. It is ranked as the #18th best 9 hole golf course in the world by Golf.com. Also they have 18 sets of tees so you can play a proper 18 holes, albeit to 9 green complexes.

First  18 hole round with the Hot Metal HL and they performed. really liked the ball Flight and feel.  Score could have been better.  But short game was spotty as heck.

How is your gapping compared to the T200's (or whatever you were using prior to the HL's)? I'm intrigued by those irons if the gapping holds up comparatively.

Also, looks like I need to update your posted score... some of the numbers got a little out of sorts.... assuming you weren't 78 strokes over par 😉

Back at Plantation Palms today, with Nicole arriving tomorrow the wind was a sustaining 20+ mph with gusts to 34 mph. I played today as yesterday was Election Day and I was a Poll Deputy… over 16 hours on my feet. Well, it was today or nothing as tomorrow will be all wind and rain.Anyway, today garnered a whopping 92 less CH of 12 = 80 versus Par 72 or +8. I only had 3 net birdies(1 birdie and 2 net) with a Long Drive of 200 yds.

Another wild day on the course as we're awaiting Nicole. Winds were a steady 25+, overcast and occasional light precip. It always seemed like we were constantly hitting into the wind. By the time we got to 18th hole (pic below) to say we were whipped was an understatement, Only one lost ball today and into the mangroves (vs ponds). Putting was consistently better = amazing how that impacts the score.  My drive on 18 was strategically into a hill on the left as we had a quartering headwind and even the slightest draw would have been waylaid into the pond. 2nd shot with the 5 wood not too bad given the wind. The pitch with my GP came to a dead stop about 6" from the hole. I didn't get up there in time to take a pic as one of my partners said it was a gimme and picked it up.

The weather finally looks like its going to let us PNW people to get out for some golf. It's been pretty bad, I don't know the exact total inches of rain but last Thursday-Saturday is close to if not over 3"plus inches. I had a football games where I think I would have stayed dryer if I just stood in the shower.

I have a round planned at Gearhart Links Saturday.

Love the new way to post scores, Thanks for thinking of those of us that are Technically challenged.

Haha... I remember days like that when I lived there!!

I hope the auto post feature makes it easier on everyone to share their scores... that is the intent anyway 🙂

I played in the Oregon Golf Association Mid-Amateur at Gearhart many many years ago... Loved that course, even though I played horribly the first day.  If I recall I shot my handicap on the 2nd day, and that was like 25 strokes better than the day before haha.   Have a great time!!  I miss the Oregon Coast... I visited Seaside several times a year.... Razor Clam season is the best!!

Play well Saturday!!  I loved Gearhart, especially the Irish Stout at Mcmenamin's!!  I heard they have made changes to the course since I was there; guess I have to stop by again one of these days!

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
