Good morning from me and good afternoon to you spies!

Took the Qi10 out for 9 holes this morning at Bixby Village, pretty interesting but one day out is only the Kickstarter. After I came home I did my quick write-up on the day (I tried to make it quick I swear) in the testing thread and then the fiance and I went out to "The Breakfast Bar" here in Long Beach. A little pancake, egg, and bacon breakfast was needed after walking the waters on the course. Going to get started on some coursework before this evening's class and try to reset before a sim session tomorrow.

Depending on what part of Texas we all are living in come summer… We can try and convince ourselves that  we are “privileged ” to have unrestricted access to an exceedingly large sauna or dry sauna as the case maybe.

Another way too warm day for February in Denver, but how can one not take advantage. The snow has almost gone! And the warms temps will soon be forgotten in the next few days. And we all know there will be more snow to come.

I have a tee time tomorrow at 4, we're going back to Bear Trace and give it another shot. I'm just hoping the weather cooperates, it was supposed to be the last nice day this week and I checked out the weather forecast and we're going to get rain in the morning and high winds in the evening. It looks like a CPO day to me.

Just back from a golf ball fitting at Golf Galaxy.  Pleasantly surprised on a couple fronts.  One, the trackman data was great and two, I was actually striking the ball really well. This was a welcome change from the past indoor visits.  Earlier I went to the Hit the Hot List event and could barely hit the ball due to stage fright. It was pretty much a wasted event due to my lack of calm. 

This past weekend there was a Ping fitting.  The nerves were slightly improved and I hit the ball, but the death grip on the clubs exacerbated the slice to a level not seen in many a swing.

Today, I was loose and calm, swinging the club instead of fighting the club. Really got some good information on what make/model works best for my swing. I may actually pry open Gringotts and move away from my oh so frugal Kirklands.

That's good news, but..

Standard Disclaimer: I'm not a golf instructor and I don't play one on TV.

Just imo.. be careful about full swings with an injury - it's possible to develop compensations (aka bad habits) as you unconsciously "guard" the injured part....

Yeah, that’s why I got a small bucket and didn’t over do it. After realizing full swings were not in the forecast for the day, I just worked on chipping and some putting.

This is great, I just started a thread on this.  Can you give me more detail on the actual ball fitting?

I have been in Myrtle since Feb 3rd. Got a dozen rounds in already. Grab the 1pm tee-time and it's been comfortably high 50's to low 60's. 

Perfect golf weather. The average high Temps in Scotland in July is 68 degrees. I'd rather 60's then 80's and 90's all day long......

60’s is long pants weather… I  am awaiting the the 115° heat indexed temperatures to return. I enjoy and probably need the heat to ease an appease my old bones.

Good evening Spies. Had three appointments today: The pretzel-twisting I mentioned earlier, one that involved a glove and some Vaseline, and the third was for the sore shoulder that forced me out of golf 20+ years ago. It doesn't bother me to swing any more, but reaching overhead sucks and so does lying on it at night (and I'm a side sleeper). So I went to see an orthopedic PA. He got X-rays, said it didn't look too bad for a 63-year-old shoulder, but range of motion is limited and there is some tenderness, so he gave me a cortisone injection. Don't know what was the most uncomfortable: The pretzel-twist, the glove or the injection. I was still able to do my backyard angle-of-attack drills this evening, and did all of my strength workout except for the shoulder press; thought I'd give the cortisone at least 24 hours to work before I pushed any dumbbells overhead. He's also sending me to physical therapy with the goal of giving me some shoulder exercises to do at home, possibly to be incorporated into my fitness regimen/the Fit For Golf test.

Personal preference I suppose. For me if it was 115 I'd be in AC INDOORS watching golf, I hate sweating.....

The Wisconsin baseball team came down to play the Hogs and escape their winter, but it was just about as bad at George Cole Field as it would have been in Madison. They played, but it was miserable, and the Badgers didn't score a run in four games. We could have used a week of weather like you just had. Wisconsin ended up dropping baseball about 10 years later.

Truth be told, I’ll play from mid 30s to somewhere in the 90s without complaint. Everyone is a bit different with comfort in temps and ideal temps for me to play is the mid 50s to mid 60s for comfort. That’s usually shorts and a quarter zip for me to walk the course.

Ive been silent on here for a bit because of been blessed to spend my son’s wedding weekend with the entire side of my family welcoming a daughter to our family. I was privileged to be the officiant marrying Stephen and Kiera. I was with my parents, my sisters and their families and my aunt and uncle. The wedding was Saturday and on Sunday we explored the beauty of Joshua Tree National Park.
 

A note to the veterans and active duty here. If you have proof of service you get a free lifetime pass to the National Parks.

We leave Joshua Tree today and head to SoCal. We have one of nieces with us from NY. She is a golf nut like us. So we will visit Goat Hill Park, the Scotty Cameron Gallery and Torrey Pines. We won’t be playing but just taking it all in.

Would definitely much rather be playing golf at the moment than sitting behind a computer!!
I even changed the temp from Celsius to Fahrenheit as to not scare the non-Aussies...

Indeed it was. It was at a venue called Sacred Sands just outside of Joshua Tree National Park. I was deeply touched and honored to be asked to officiate their wedding.

Morning all!

Early, early morning session at the sim range. My wife just told me that waking up in the 4 o’clock hour is a dealbreaker, but in the nicest way. 

Now at the garage hoping the mechanic will tell me why I’m running low on radiator fluid (couldn’t find the leak myself).

@MattWillGolf thanks for sharing those pics. Joshua Tree. Very cool place to start that journey.

I usually sit on the wing when I fly, and one time, waiting in line watching them de-ice all the planes and ours was both efficient and unsettling. It’s amazing that we can fly when it’s that cold.

I forgot what CPO meant and googled the slang meaning for it.

Such a good reminder. 

A physical therapist once told me that when one muscle in my back was injured the others surrounding it automatically compensated for it which would have altered my swing. The best thing to do was to retrain the muscle group to go back to its original process.

Good morning everyone!

I'm hoping the rain coming in doesn't cancel our round today. Last night it was shown to be ending around 1 and now it's looking like it'll be after 3. Who knows? 

I asked my wife yesterday if it was ok to play and she had one condition: that I go to the chiropractor yesterday. I've been dealing with a sore hip and had to get it adjusted. I, of course, obeyed and it's feeling better with just a little muscle soreness.

@MattWillGolf I think it's awesome you got to officiate the nuptials and it looks like it was the perfect venue for them to start their life together. 

@berkeleybob thanks for the laugh this morning with your response, sometimes we all have to repeat something to remember it. Mines usually "I love my job, I love my job".

Morning to all , going to be a nice date today reaching almost 80° here in The Villages Florida, no golf today , gym work , walk , lunch and then practice for a bit ! Yesterday was a nice day after the chilly start , the courses are showing effects of the cold temps , many greens were dormant with spotty new growth , not get putting surfaces at all , but still fun day ! May you all have splendid days , be grateful, blessed and kind !

Good morning all!

Had a nice day yesterday and getting to visit a bit with my Mom, but did have to do some work, but the kids loved having her stop by. Snow is really starting to get melting here and the next 10 days looks to be more melting and that cross country ski trip we planned for early March might not have much snow. It almost feels too quick I am not quite ready for golf, just feels too early. Need to get in gear for that. Today is just another Tuesday with nothing special on tap.

Good morning all getting closer to start of season March 15th. I am lucky enough that we golf all year here in Ireland especially if you are a member of a links golf club. We use mats on the fairways during winter which is a bit of a pain but it protects the course.
