Good morning spies! Had a monsoon come through about 10 last night complete with hail. Checked my truck this morning and thankfully no damage. I played an okay round (40/42 one birdie and on unforced error double)  yesterday with the Wild Bunch but the game was count all net scores on all holes. My playing partners had handicaps of 18 and 14 so I thought we had a good chance. Then we finished the first three holes. I had 3 pars. They each had 2 doubles, and a bogie. Things actually went downhill from there. 

By the time we hit hole ten we were going to be dead last -and we were- so I told them don't play for score play for fun. If there is a shot you want to try that is risky but is something you want in your arsenal try it! We cannot be more than last, so have fun! Experiment. 

Neither one tried anything, but they did relax more and played the last nine holes a bit better.

Tomorrow is another day,!

The Drive, Chip and Putt challenge went well for my oldest son Myles yesterday! He ended up finishing in 8th place out of 20 participants in the 7-9 age group, and with his birthday in April he was one of the youngest participants. He scored the 4th most points in the putting category, and I'm just super proud of him. He mentioned being nervous Sunday night, and I could tell he was feeling some nerves as he fiddled with his tee height for his first drive about five times. However, he promptly tagged an 89 yard bullet right down the middle of the grid for his first swing of the day and had 2/3 drives stay in the grid for scoring purposes. Chipping was a bit of a challenge, and I think next year we will take a different approach to practicing for that area. He still managed to get two balls into the scoring target, and one outside which is still a point. For putting, they had a tricky left to right side breaking putt set up for the 6 footer. He drilled it like it was a tap in for 25 points, then hit the 15' and 30' putt to within 10 feet, both good for 5 points. All in all he tallied 47 total points and was just 16 points off third place. I have a feeling the next couple years he could challenge for a top three finish and advance to the regional qualifier. We finished it off with a hot dog, brat and kiddie cocktail in the clubhouse.

FIL met with his oncologist yesterday. I was with the kids so I only hear the pass down from my MIL regarding what was said during the appointment. It's basically past the point where there would be any hope of curing his cancer and at this point he's just buying time. He's already said that he would give the treatment a try, but depending on how he takes to it, he may not stick with it because he doesn't want to prolong being absolutely miserable.

On top of that, my sister-in-law has apparently been in the hospital for about a week. Again. This is, I think the 3rd or 4th time this year she's had to be hospitalized. Always seems to be symptoms related to her drinking habits. I'm sure in her mind, there is a reason for it, but I can't understand it. She has a 12 year old son that has seen her in pretty bad shape a few times, and I would have thought that would be enough to wake her up, but it hasn't changed a thing. My wife says that it's probably related to some kind of guilt or secret she has about something, but the full details are outside the scope of my knowledge. Even if I knew, I'm sure it wouldn't be my place to say anything, but it does lead to the question at what point should my wife say something because it could absolutely blow up her sister's world. She seems to be stuck between her promise and relationship to her sister, and trying to protect her sister from killing herself with the alcoholism. 

I'm not going to lie, I'm over 2024. 

I used to work for a Dutch company and every now and again we’d get a similarly early conference call. I don’t miss that.

I appreciate it Robert! I don't know what was going on with me yesterday I'm either thinking it was mixing Aleve with ibuprofen, although it was hours apart or if it was the sandwich bread that had gotten wet and I ate as far as feeling bad and getting the chills yesterday. I'm used to the foot pain, but it was bad yesterday which might have been the weather. 

 

I'm feeling 100% better today and I'm hoping the weather will cooperate for some golf.

Today is one of those days where I'm glad to be working remotely from the rest of my company. I'm not in the mood to deal with the "office chat" activities that are hard to avoid in the main office. I'm barely even in the mood to work on my organizational busy work tasks I am completing for the day. Next up is to try to retain information from some online lecture videos, attend an online lecture, and then be done for the day, with work at least.

The problem with having smart children is that they are smart enough to ask complicated questions. My daughter especially has gotten to the point of asking all kinds of questions about her grandfather and his condition and everything else.

I'm getting in a half day at work today and hoping to see if there's any openings at the courses near me since it's been wet here lately. 

I had a great time on the community call yesterday and was also happy to see @GolfSpy AFG post up a recap of the outing on the main site. It was a great read and brought back memories of the trip.

At one point I tried listening to the community call at the same time.  I'm not as good a multi tasker as I had hoped.

Good morning Guys!

I ended up winning last night in leagues. It was a rough start with a triple bogey on the first 2 holes and then I buckled down and shot 4 over for the next 7 holes. The first hole was a combination of two bladed approach shots that went over the green in opposite directions. The second hole was a result of a pulled drive and a failed punch out attempt that put me in a worse spot then the drive did. The thing that annoyed me about the punch out attempt was I kept it low like I wanted to but then it struck  tree root and actually glanced strait left and came to rest directly behind another tree with no choice but to punch out again. Oh well that is golf I guess. I'll be out this evening for as many hours as I can get in before dark.

Good morning all and a happy Friday to you. Put in two hours at the driving range yesterday afternoon and it was great. Lots of good trajectory and distance as I was working to get the tempo back in sync. Hopefully a round or two this weekend to see how well it is embedding into my game.

Good morning MGSpies from the quieter region of US summer weather where the days are short sleeve and shorts temperatures with plenty of sunshine and only a few showers occasionally to keep everything growing here in WNY, and yes we embrace these days considering what it is like the other half of the year - work computer going online for today's onslaught into making sure employees are paid correctly on-time  coffee ready to go and remembering a fun community call yesterday no tee time yet but lots of other things demanding attention in EP land, hope golf is a part of your day!

It is a crisp morning in the NE suburbs of Cincinnati. I had a pleasant drive into work with my friend Ben riding shotgun. We are going to get 18 in at the home course on Sunday with our sons in tow. Not sure it can get any better than that!

Last day of a weeklong class for me, then driving home…will be dealing with rush hour coming out of DC, so that will be fun!

Wife’s car is having issues again, through an emissions fault the other day.  Taking it into the shop to get looked at.  Car has been paid off for a bit now and was doing well until recently…wife has started the discussion of a new car (pretty sure I know how this ends!).

Good morning Spies!

We've finally reached Friday and the weekend is fast upon us. Headed to the driving range shortly to get in a good practice session before work. Want to try and figure out some swing consistency before my scheduled round on Sunday.

Taking a half day of work to go watch a family friend of mine play in the Korn Ferry event this afternoon at The Glen Club. He got off to a solid start yesterday with a round of -4 and 4 back from the leaders. Asked some friends to join but understandably they all have work commitments. Should be fun regardless!

No plans for the evening, so will likely be an early night after lots of walking. Luckily the weather looks beautiful for the day and I always enjoy watching golf!

Happy Friday everyone - as @GolfSpy_APH said, I hope there is some golf in everyone’s weekend!  I myself have two rounds planned (grandparents elected to watch the children ) - excited to put my new Haywood wedges and Titleist DI in play!

Top of the pot spies .  Today is round 3 of our "White Tank Mountain's" tournament; a 4 round event where 4 of the area 55+ communities play team events to win the White Tank Cup.  They've been doing this event for quite a few years and this is my first time participating. 

We're currently 1/2 point behind the leader but hoping to flip that today and then finish strong when round 4 is played here on Cimmaron (previous years winner hosts the final round). Grand has had a winning history in this tournament, and I hope we can keep that going .  Today is a 2-man BB at Sun City Festival's Copper Canyon GC.

If there is a tie, one of the pro's from each community plays a match play format as the tiebreaker.  We have a former LPGA player who is the area's ace... she's never lost one of these... go Jennifer!

1. he “can” win again since he is still playing golf.   I don’t think it is likely.

2. your swing is consistent; your results arent

3. the state of the items used to make your coffee changes on a day to day basis so the coffee will be different day to day.

It has been 2 weeks since I posted here. Well backin Maine for the weekend with 2 grandchildren (6, 10). Was treated to a beautiful lake morning with a skier and some ducks. Does'nt get old!

Good morning spies! I'm already out on the golf course this morning soaking up the perfect weather. So far I'm even par through two, so I'm hoping to keep that going. I've been fighting through some back pain and I'm pretty sure it's a pinched nerve. It only bothers me when I'm in certain positions, but man oh man is it tender this morning. I'm hoping that goes away soon as it is not fun to deal with. The rest of the day looks pretty open, so I'm going to have a nice Friday! I hope you al do the same!

couple of incredible busy and late days. My company did an annual field days yesterday and with a new acquisition under our belts we had close to 200 people there. 

Taking today to catch up on admin work and hopefully it’s a slow day with everyone traveling back and recovering from all of the team outings.

Super excited for  all of the buzz around the upcoming testing opportunities. The forum staff works really hard on those and I think it goes without saying but we all really appreciate it!
