Had a great weekend, and got to play 36 holes.  A good scoring round Friday while playing hooky, and a less good scoring but very fun round yesterday having a “vintage iron” day with friends.  A slow start and bad putting doomed me but the Apex 99 irons were money.

 I am benching my LAB DF 2.1  putter. I have used it all summer, other than Friday, and have practiced and tried to dial it in. It just is too light for me and I have no distance control. I putted with Scotty on Friday and got much better results. Used the.LAB yesterday and was back to missing. I borrowed my friends Scotty for two 15 foot birdie putts and made them both center of the cup. I think a heavier weighted model would probably work for me, but alas, this putter fling is over. Don’t get me wrong, it always goes where I pointed, but I have trouble lining up the large head and distance control is a failure. Just not for me.  SAD!  lol.

What kind of vintage stuff were you playing? I try to play one vintage round a week of some kind or another

I am thinking on doing it. I might embarrass myself because now I am so erratic. Right now I am worse than John Daly used to be. The last 2 days I have putted like Lexi Thompson or Adam Scott. We have crappy greens but that makes no difference when you are not rolling them right to begin with. Right now I have like 10 and 11 shot swings between rounds.

My driving a truck around the country. The country becomes a much smaller place. I see where  people are at. I know that place. It's just over.... yadda yadda...... I'm actually semi retired. I collect a pension from my career in So. Cal.

I did it for 41 years on and off. 13 as an Owner Operator total. I would get tired of driving and go to turning wrenches on them. The last 8 years before I retired I ran local basically NC and SC was home every night. I was a partner in a Towing Company here at the beach and I did all the long distance towing

Well if they can not weight it up for one reason or the other that is what lead tape is made for

Ain't it so cute! At least I can tell it's not poisonous and I don't mind snakes like that. I've got a buddy that would try to catch it, I think he's got issues.

The VGA is a good tour. I shot an 86 today, which is 3 over my VGA handicap. Good folks on the tour!

Greens were SO FAST - and not anywhere near the speed of the practice green! I walked off thinking "Man these greens are slow today," and then blew every putt 20 feet long. Pin placements were also tough today; I had several that spun off the front or were placed on the top of a ridge and rolled off if you didn't hole it. Very tough day today. If you see any ProV1's with 6 dots on them, they're mine - I distributed them all throughout the course today.

The course is definitely playing very tough this year. It definitely is not for the faint of heart. However, although it is hard, the course is in wonderful condition. I will keep my eyes out for those balls!

Good morning Spies!

My wife and I made it to Amalfi yesterday, where we’ll be spending the next couple nights. Starting our morning with breakfast on the rooftop terrace. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous and we’re excited to explore some of the nearby towns. Today we’re doing a day trip to Positano. 

Cappuccino in hand and we’re ready to take on the day. I hope everyone has a lovely Tuesday!

Good morning everyone! 

It's looking like it's going to be a hot one here today with highs forecasted to be in the mid 90's. I think summer is trying to make a valiant last stand. 

Yesterday evening was a bit rough at the Chunks household. Our cat wasn't wanting to eat, so the wife had to make a quick appointment with the vet. The initial look from the vet showed nothing wrong and they did blood work so hopefully we'll know something soon. My wife did boil some chicken and he ate it, so he might have just wanted to be picky. Hopefully that's the case 

She's been having computer issues where it's been crashing and restarting way too often, so she wanted me to call their customer service. We've dealt with them before, even sending it back once. They wanted us to run a diagnostic where we're checking the memory by pulling out one stick of the RAM and running it. She went to do the other and now the computer will turn on, but won't display anything on the screen. Now we're having to send it back in for them to keep a couple of weeks. I'll never buy another computer from CLX with how big of a piece of junk this one has been.

WOW one of the classic GOAT sets!!! Even though I am a Macgregor man those are some of the best irons made. And believe it or not they are on the USGA conforming irons list . Someone submitted a set of those for testing and they were approved. I do have a set of 55 or 56 Precisions with K grind wedges I play sometimes. LOL my front line set of everyday VIPs I play Hogan Apex #2 shafts. Back in the day that was known as a "Carolina Conversion" I have since found out that it was not limited to the Carolinas only but was done all over. LOL it prompted a Terse letter from Mr. Hogan himself to dealers about selling Apex shafts and putting them into non Hogan clubs. That story deserves a post of it's own

I have not had one in hand to really see on that. I wonder if by being careful you could be real meticulous by weighing the tape you could balance it out equally?

Good morning spies. Didn’t get chance to post yesterday as another long duty day due to Notting Hill Carnival. Over the event there were 334 arrests and 8 people stabbed, 3 of which are critical, and 50 officers injured. So much for it being a friendly community event. 
Day off today so hoping to get a round in later as back on duty tomorrow.

Trust me those birds better be careful! I have seen Mr. Gator sit there seeming asleep and then quick as a flash jump and grab one. My policy is I stay as far away from Mr. Gator as I can. Every year along the coast of SC we hear stories of gator attacks. Tourists are stupid they will sneak close taking pictures and stuff. I think it annoys the Gators and they spring into action. In my experiences if you give them their space and leave them alone they will leave you alone. Around here on the courses if you give them their space they just look at you curious but cautious.

Our latest Tourist Tragedies as I call them this year have involved rip currents. Last week they had 2 drownings around Charleston. Last weekend they had a drowning up in Myrtle. They have had the Red Warning flags up and people do not pay them any attention. They have had it posted and on the media how to get out of a rip current but people do not pay attention.

Up this AM. No golf planned because I have played the last 4 days straight and the heat has returned like a blast furnace. With the heat coming back yesterday combined with slow play it was starting to take a toll on me late into yesterday's round. Wife is working and gets off at 7AM. I will do breakfast this AM for us and have it ready when she gets here. She does stocking at Wal Mart 2 nights a week. It is like 5 blocks up the street so she will be home in like 5 minutes after 7. Nothing really planned may do some piddling in the shop. Caught up on yard work last week and we have not had any rain since so nothing has grown. Will take it easy today but not too lazy.

Good morning MGSpies from the streetlights dark thirty of downtown by the office building for today's workday, listening to Ryan Farish's Starlight on Pandora and sipping coffee before heading in. Golf yesterday was a great experience with driver working right for the first time in 2024 and the tee shot on the 6th that needs to carry reeds, trees and water on the end of South Park lake was found in the middle of the fairway inside the 150 stake and 227 appeared on the club tracking before GPS settled on 226, longest yet for the Callaway Ai Smoke Max D. I'm seeing an erosion in my app calculated handicap so sometimes going well this year. 

Lovely photos everyone of Italy, golf courses and wildlife! Thoughts are for peaceful focus and letting stress slip away like water draining away to uncover the spirit in all of us that is who we really are, sending intentions for strength and endurance to get there.  As AK's Life's so Short is reminding me as the last Pandora sounds leaving the vehicle, make today yours.

I got out last night and played 20 holes. I should have stopped sooner. It was one of those days when nothing was working and didn't really play that well. 

This evening will be exciting though. I will be getting fit for the Titleist Vokey wedges and doing a review for the Vokey Fitting App and comparing the App results to what a Certified Titleist fitter actually fits me for.

Good morning all!

Was an odd day weather wise yesterday. We had a couple thunderstorms roll by but we got no real rain until they were almost gone and the sun was starting to poke back out

This derailed any golf activities that I might have hoped. That and spending a solid 90 minutes trying to figure out about our washer that we ordered on July 5th from LG that has twice now not been delivered due to their truck breaking down. They are offering money back but not until we get the washer which I have no idea when that will happen. Best of all their delivery partner believes in their truck breaks down and then you need to reschedule at the back of the line, oh and they only deliver to our area on Mondays.

So needless to say I am not happy and I am close to cancelling and ordering from our local Lowe's (still 40 minutes away) who delivered our fridge in less than a week no problem. It was a frustrating evening to say the least. Also my wife's favorite exchange was when they said I could now call their logistics folks and select my preferred delivery date and my response was "My preferred delivery date is today but since that is not happening how about tomorrow". That was not given to me as an option.

@Byrnzee that trip looks wonderful and I hope you have a great time!

Should be a better weather day and hope to get the speed training on Rapsodo figured out as I am still not sure how to get that done as it seems I need both apps open at the same time but that does not work.
