I have been considering swapping out my steel iron shafts for lighter graphite shafts and have specifically been eying the recoil and mitsubishi mmt shafts. What were the improvements you saw? More distance, more spin, tighter dispersion, better feel?

Good morning spies! Teeing it up at 12:30 this afternoon and with the days getting longer there is little chance of finishing up as it is getting dark. Once the snowbirds get here the course slows down considerably, and late December rounds and a early January rounds sometimes finish at dusk.  Picking finished up yesterday with everyone getting a fine haul of fresh citrus. My wife and I spent the day running the whole show as the couple who normally run things are back in Alberta for a medical check up. Two of doing the work of 4 and well it turns into herding cats.  Everybody wants "their" oranges and all prefer the proverbial "low hanging fruit" . The problem is the low hanging fruit is often left for the home owner and their kids to pick. So I end up standing guard next to the tree we have taped (home depot wide yellow caution tape) off for the home owner to tell the seniors who don't wear their hearing aids that they can only pick above the demarcation tape.  It is fun, its for a good cause, and the fruit is amazingly tasty!

But, today is a golf day and that is where my focus must stay...

Good morning all and happy Friday! Taking another crack at getting our oldest through a day of school today. Had to pick him up yesterday morning, poor guy couldn't stop coughing. Today he seemed quite a bit better though which is a good thing!

It continues to rain here, so snow is melting and roads are wet/icy. Not a super fun combo. It also has me feeling early spring vibes, which sucks cause it's only late January and we still have a solid 6-8 weeks of wintry crap like weather .

Hope everyone has a great end to the week and a fantastic weekend, whatever it may hold for you!

TGIF Spy Family,

Work has been abusive lately, but I am working through it all. I did spend a few minutes with a fellow golfing employee yesterday and I was lamenting my current lack of ball striking opportunities. However, I discovering little nuggets of wisdom and carefully practicing small swings within the confines of my living room.

The good news is that golf tournaments on the weekend are keeping the fires stoked for when the weather turns! I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday and even better weekend.

Good morning! Another late-ish night last night meant I slept in to 505 this morning and I'm not going to lie, it felt friggin awesome. I did not want to get up. But, it's leg day, and everyone knows you don't skip it. Got the shop opened up, hit the gym, did some stretching, and am going to be working on quotes all day. My wife is semi-out of town tonight, so I am shuttling kids around after work to activities. I should finally get "home" around 7:30, and I think I'm probably only going to last until 9 tonight. Anyway, wishing everyone a fantastic Friday!

It's technically Portugal, but not really - one of my favorite trans-Atlantic flight stops was Lajes in the Azores. Those islands are so intensely green! I can't remember the name of the place, but I went out to a fancy restaurant in town and had an ostrich steak. It was honestly one of the best things I've ever had!

4th visit to the same plant this week scheduled today. Just love repeating myself every time when they ask for recommendations for improvement. How long until I'm allowed to say, "follow the recommendations in any of the reports I've been sending you for the past 3 years and it would be a good start"?

It's not like 80% of the major recommendations in my reports have been copy paste because nothing has changed or anything...

Good morning everyone! I got to sleep in this morning with no work today. Forecast says it’s going to rain most all day today and tomorrow but it hasn’t started yet. If it doesn’t get to raining soon I’ll be on the course in an hour haha! 
 

I got to play a full round yesterday and walked the course (which I often do but haven’t done since last fall) and I have to say I was strangely tired after about 13 holes. The wet conditions definitely made it more difficult than usual but still, I was surprised by how fatigued I was. Through 13 I was sitting at +5 and then managed to bogey 4 of the last 5 to finish +9. Not a great finish but I’ll take it for my first full round of the year!

Good Friday morning all!

Well, I have to admit that yesterday's round of wet, sloppy, muddy, and cart path only was Great!  It was so good to finally get back out on the course... Hope everyone has the opportunity to rekindle the spirit in the next few days.

Today is going to be another wet one starting in the afternoon but then we are forecast to warm up and dry out for the rest of next week which will make for a golfaholic week of practice and rounds,,,

Hope your daughter is feeling better today @Josh Parker.

@TSauer you ain't kidding about them being a pain to put on, I don't see how people with arthritis do it. My hands were achy and they aren't really that bad. 

But they're dead sexy when you wear shorts.

I was woken up by my buddy in Virginia, I forgot it is our weekly range day (we use FaceTime and he gives me advice on my swing). It has been helping so I am getting up to get ready, I guess

Anyone no how to get a 4 year old to go to bed before 11?  My boys are ready for bed and fall asleep soon after their head hits the pillows around 9.  My daughter, on the other hand, is turning into quite the night owl.  

Makes it really difficult to do things like... clean, laundry, relax, write forum reviews, you know basic adult stuff, when she's up later than I want to be up some nights!

 

 

Never had it quite this bad hope you figure it out. We do occasionally have to pretend the power "went out" and turn off the house breaker to help them feel a bit more tired, and really blackout the room in the summer. Good luck with that one.

Good Morning everyone!!  Headed into the weekend with cold and rainy conditions.  Lots more rain this year than most years.  Full blown workout day... it's 8am and coffee is gone, so headed for stretches and core exercises followed up with resistance training, then easy pitching swings and iron swings, finishing up with driver speed work.  Have to finish before the golf tournament starts at 2pm.

Used to have the same issue with one of my daughters. We started doing preparations earlier. Setting a time for PJs, getting things ready and turning the lights down. Quiet time before (no TV or anything stimulating). Then she would turn on a night light, sound machine and crawl in. Then we told her to close her eyes and see how far she could count in her head….. we would mark it a whiteboard the next morning. That worked pretty well. Hope you find the magic method my friend!

When you figure this out, will you pass along the info...?  I have a almost 3 year old that is the same way!  The wife will give her a night time shower and it seems to help some but she loves the water.

I've looked at some of it, including the Soft Feel. I also went back over to Golf Galaxy this morning to see what I was hitting in the sim last night. It was Maxfli Tour, which is 85 compression according to the MGS testing. Soft Feel is 60, by comparison. Maybe I would have gotten a little extra distance with those swings with a softer ball. I seem to get decent spin around the greens with the SF, sometimes too much; it checks up when I'd prefer it roll a little more.

Titleist argues that golfers have many swing speeds, which is true; I'm not swinging 77 mph with my 8-iron or 52-degrees, for sure. They also argue that their balls are suited for all swing speeds. I'm not so sure about that.

She doesn't even nap during the weekend, so I don't know how she's not more tired.  I think she has major FOMO and likes the one on one time with mom and dad.

I sort of have to believe it has to do with being little during COVID.  She got way different treatment at home and a lot more mom and dad time than the boys did since she has basically only known the "working from home" life.  I'm just going to start waking her up early and hope she is more tired in the evening. haha

No, it's not morning ..... I did that this morning.  It's evening, after afternoon, so this is late for a good morning post.

I had a plan for the day, do some things around the house, drop my wife off to visit with some friends, get a few errands done and then visit the Top Golf Swing Suite simulator at The Marina at The Ridges.  That was my plan ..... I though it was a good plan.  It was supposed to rain most of the day so at least I'd get to swing my clubs with this plan.

Then the stupid sun came out.  Ruined my entire plan.  I hate it when that happens.

I had to get dressed, get the bag out, make a tee time ...... just because the stupid sun ruined my plans.  I hate it when that happens.

So I headed for Brasstown with a tee time in hand and sacrificed my time with the simulator for 18 holes on the course.  Cart path only, it's been raining all week, and I suffered the consequences of that rain in my shoes and my pants leg and a few shots from really mushy turf.  I hate it when that happens.

In the end it worked out fine .... myself, a two-some in front of me and a two-some behind were the only five people on the entire course.  It was heavenly.
