The Good Morning Thread

Good morning fellow spies,

Just got back from FL visiting family and I must say that after not visiting for over a year, I forgot how crazy hot it is all of the time. No clouds and beating 100deg sun really validate my decision for staying in Colorado after graduating from college

Good morning MGSpies on a rather chilly WNY Wednesday, coffee is brewing ☕ and deciding what to do with my only "real day off" this week with so much going on.  This time tomorrow will be carrying a standard at Oak Hill so will be a shorter day for early bedtime and on the road by 3:30am for the first volunteer shift at the Championship.  Got an email yesterday that PGA HOPE program graduate volunteers should stop by the Volunteer HQ to pick up a hat they have for us, PGA HOPE Ambassador friend Scott sent photos of the hat last night and said of the 3,500 volunteers there is only 8 of us on a roster who can wear them.

Hope golf is a part of your day ⛳

That is really awesome. I actually just had my first PGA Hope experience this morning at Spook Rock Golf Course in Suffern, NY. I never knew the organization existed until recently. I think it's a wonderful thing they do for us Veterans and it was a lot of fun. I can't wait to go back next week.

That has been my experience since my 2018 first session and graduation.  I just keep going back and stay involved.  There really is no reason to stop now you have started and make yourself known by getting to know everyone.  It is the most rewarding thing in my life since retirement from the Army Reserve.  And it is golf so how could it be any better?  Very glad to know you are part of PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere).  We can pm anytime.

Good morning all! It's a great day for golf today in Oklahoma after a few wet and muggy days. My swing, after 6 months of reworking it with a trusted coach (and former tour pro), is finally feeling fluid and showing some great results. Threw out a 82 yesterday and will be out at the club this afternoon looking to replicate and improve. Loving how the swing feels going into our member/guest in a few weeks!

par3-hole7.png.abd626b68cdb405cae80a7044fec0002.png

Here is my best shot from my last round. Par 3, 168 yards with an 8 iron to about 4 feet!

Greens look nice.

Just make sure you take the plastic or tarp off first thing in the morning, so they don't get baked. Keep them protected near the foundation of the house south side. Also a farmer once told me if there is some frost on the plants sprinkle them with water before the sun hits them.

The guys who used plastic during the FL frost this winter lost the plants, old sheets worked better.
Not sure why the difference except the plastic doesn’t breathe while sheets will, maybe.

Good morning MGS! I how all of you are getting off to a good start this fine Thursday morning. It's a nice morning here with temperatures in the mid 60's.

I had to do a little extra driving this morning because they had the exit closed that leads to work for the umpteenth time. But the exit ramp work looks really good, I can't tell they've done anything.

Sorry for the rant.

I'm feeling pretty good this morning, nonetheless. Getting a delivery of Cobra clubs has that effect. Although, I think it's going to rain this evening and I might have to wait until Friday to hit them. At least I can bring out the putting mat and get a feel for the Agera. My calendar just filled up after the community call.

I how you all have a wonderful day!

nothing like a good rain test either! Really give the clubs a working see how they work in wet conditions! That’s just me though Midwest golf is wet golf while the season is short

Good morning Spies from a frosty Michigan morning. 32 degrees F, or 0 C this morning, but this is supposed to be the last of the cold weather here for a while.

Last day for working in facility for me this week, and I am planning on joining the call later today from there before the trek home.

First day of the PGA, best of luck to not only the players there, but to those participating in the PGA contest here.

Have a great day, make it the best you possibly can have!

I love your enthusiasm for the cold being over! Buy want about our Midwest mid summer snow hahahahaha! Jk I hope you are right! Need to get some leg color!

Frost Delay on this first day of the PGA Championship.  Plenty of sunshine should have the greens clearing soon. @MattWillGolf your tee time if you're going early will be pushed back and coffee in the clubhouse is always a good way to enjoy the pause.

Good morning spies!

I hope you all have had a great week thus far! The week for me has been moving along quite nicely. I played golf Monday and Tuesday and also have a league tonight. The weather has been lovely here which always makes it more enjoyable to get out and play. I have 10 days of school left and then it's golf every morning and life feels great! Looking forward to the weekend vastly approaching! Have a day!

Good morning all on a crisp but very nice Wisconsin morning. Looking forward to the PGA kicking off today but that might be about all the golf my day includes. Lawn is in serious need of a mow, so going to get on that around 5:30 this evening. Maybe squeeze a range session in before that, but it's unlikely. Oh well, the weekend should provide time for some golf in either play or practice form, I certainly need it! After seeing @sirchunksalot's unboxing video and gratuitous photo thread of his new sticks, I am feeling like this waiting for mine to arrive...

New neighbors moved in across the street directly from somewhere Wisconsin.  That makes 3 Wisconsin refugees out of 4 houses, sheesh not sure there’s enough Green/Gold & Red/White clothing in FL for them all.  First words out of the guys mouth was is there golf’s groups, Oh Boy just wait until he meets Bacon Boyz 😱

Good morning,

I walked outside, to run lincoln and was consumed with the perfume of the Vietnamese Lilac. When it blooms my whole walkway is filled with its perfume all day and night for almost 2 weeks. Very Cold morning (31degrees) but lucky no major damage to seedlings. Pinched back the basil tips because of some freeze. I am bummed that I could not get a round in yesterday and no go this morning! Boys work weekend at the camper Fri - Sun. Building a pallet deck and set up outside kitchen. Okay there will be some fun and shenanigans!

Beautiful lilac Pete! Absolutely love walking the dog by these; I can smell the sweet aroma forever. My wife would love to have one that is full grown.

Good morning! My last full day in NYC this week. Beautiful cool morning with no golf in site (just the Grace building with it's cool curved base). Fly home tomorrow morning with plans to practice and play this weekend!

The architecture/skyscrapers in NYC are amazing. I've been so many times and am still in awe. Have a great time and flight home.

Good morning everyone! After playing 18 the last two days I am taking today to get back to the practice facilities. My scores are ticking lower and mechanics are feeling solid again finally! The plan for today is to work on short iron shots, long chips, and as always... the driver. But, there's no place I would rather be, I mean check out this view at the club in the morning!hole10.png.d34416e65895a163867fb0a4f95e0605.png
