Fujikura Ventus shafts - Why are they so good?

If you watch professional golf on TV and you are remotely interested by the gear and equipment side of things, it is hard to miss that the Ventus line by Fujikura has taken over a gigantic share of the graphite shafts market.

Ventus-TR-marquee2022-1024x393.jpg.5949fd7228769882e7c26e467cd1d5ba.jpg

Off the top of my head, a few big names gaming these shafts are Scotty Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Sam Burns, Min Woo Lee, Cam Smith and Tiger Woods.

Even the golf influencers' scene on YouTube is stacked with golfers gaming Fujikura Ventus shafts (Peter Finch, a few guys from Good Good, Kyle Berskshire in his 2-iron, MadJack and I think that Grant Horvat and Micah Morris played Ventus shafts at some point and might still be gaming those). It basically seems that every time a golf influencer signs a deal with a manufacturer and gets a full bag fitting, they somehow end up with a Fujikura Ventus shaft.

This is a big introduction only to ask: What makes Fujikura Ventus shafts so good and so easily suitable to a lot of golfers?

I do have the Ventus Blue FW 6S that came stock with my TaylorMade Sim Max 15° 3W and I love that club but I wouldn't be able to tell how much the shaft has to do with it as I wasn't fitted for this specific club.

It could be interesting to hear from fellow weekend warriors that went through a fitting process and ended up with a Ventus shaft (or not) as to what was the game changer in terms of performance and feel. Is it truly attributable to a revolutionary technology or innovation of some sort? What about Velocore versus non-Velocore?

Cheers,

I had only irons and I wanted something different after 1year of playing with only irons, especially from the Tee, went to do a fitting, I hit 1st with my irons and after time the fitter give me the Taylormade Stealth and felt good I tried Callaway and other brand but I don't remember which but won't have left an impression, taylormade felt good in the taylormade stealth was ventus red 5 in regular. I don't know my contribution will get you anything.

I think they are so popular because you they are super stable, great feel and you can make a ventus fit everyone with the different profiles, weights and flexes they offer.

It also just be as simple as they are proven to work and perform. That level of consistency is so important for the professionals and in this case if it works for them it is something that will often work for us as well.

Like equipment there are no bad shafts. Only bad shaft are the ones that don’t work for the golfer.

Ventus is popular shafts but that doesn’t make them good for everyone. One can read multiple forums where golfers have used them for a period of time and then swapped to shafts like the tensei 1k white or black, kai’li and some others and had better success.

There are members on this site who did fittings with the velocore version and TM made for ventus and the made for worked better.

At the end of the day it’s about what works for the golfer.

Cheers,

Cannot speak on non velocore but velocore for me has really increased my fairway percentage.  My tempo is aggressive and my dispersion has never been tighter.  The velocore tech imo is so stable without giving up too much feel. The hzrdus green hulk was like hitting a telephone pole but super stable. Velocore has that same dispersion without that horrible hulk pole feeling.
