Rickie is definitely looking good! Drains a 69’ putt for bird and looks as casual as it gets. He is doing a great job of staying focused on the task at hand and not letting any emotions creep in.

I'll complicate it further and say how much fun would it be to see Scheffler fix his putter woes and shoot a course record?

It was too late for me and between Ivan not having the greatest sleep and F1 I hardly watched a minute of yesterday.

Seemed like it started so late... Going to make an effort to watch tonight, but was interesting to see from a players perspective.

Today’s round should be fire. Hope the USGA doesn’t muck it up by placing pins where these guys have no options.  I love seeing them prove to the world how fantastically good they really are.

The USGA should be embarrassed. I don’t know what they are thinking using this course set up like this making it so easy it is a joke.

it seems like the course has definitely firmed up and is playing harder the last three days. looks like it was just day one luck for a lot of guys. It truly is an exciting course and it seems to have given many of the players some issues. so give them some credit. plus its one open I'm sure they will learn from this experience and move forward next year. Can't know how a course is going to play unless you give it a shot.

As much as I'd like to see Rocket Ricky win the Open, sadly I feel he will implode on the back nine. The inner me is hoping that this will be a reverse physiology moment and the golfing deities will relate.........😫

If Scottie can get the putter to behave, it may be all over early. Harris is another contender that just may slip in quietly while everybody is focused on the meltdown.......Just hard to say, but it will/should be an interesting afternoon.

ON another note------HAPPY FATHERS DAY-------

Sam,

He used to be OK, but over the last couple of years, Rory seems to have turned into a winy little baby.  It’s gotten to the point that I cannot watch his interviews.

Agreed. It’s played tough but fair in rounds two and three. I think they lengthened some of the holes and placed the pins better. It does look like a great course.

I’ve become a much bigger Rory fan because of his standing up and putting things on his shoulders during the LIV attacks. Much respect for his leadership. I like Rickie too so can’t go wrong if either win but would prefer Rory, and hope it would lead to a few more majors for him.

I think you’re going to see a less intense (LIV/PGA) Rory.  He was carrying the weight of the PGA Tour and was stuck in the middle.  I like him and hope he does well.

... We are just on opposite ends of that spectrum, which is all good. His honesty has never wavered, especially when asked the same idiotic questions from the sports media that is always more interested in drama than facts. Once he made a stance he was always between a rock and a hard place. I despised everything about liv and especially the courses they chose to play in the US so of course I appreciated Rory's anti stance.

... But I also hear you on interviews and it is rare for the questions to have any real meaning. Any "how does it feel..." or "what were your emotions like..." are just vapid and ignorant. As if someone is ever gonna say "well, honestly it was a big let down winning this week" or "When that last putt went in I was pretty depressed". So I usually fast forward through any sports "interviews" myself.

Oh yes, you are absolutely correct about those interviews and the inane questions that get asked over and over again.

I have few problems with LIV, other than the Trump connections (anything that brings attention to “the Donald” rubs me the wrong way), and it is true that Rory has been steadfast in his stance and consistent in his responses. It’s just that his presentation style seems to have taken a shift from stating his view without whining to constantly whining.  Plus, anyone who persists in expressing “hate”, as Rory has done, turns me off. I may dislike things, but I have no tolerance for hate.

BTW, just once I would love to hear someone respond to a “what did you see there?” question with “Well, I saw a golf ball sitting in a terrible lie and a pin that, at 210 yards away, was far from reachable from that lie”, or “I saw 100 feet of green between my ball and the cup”.

Agreed. It’s played tough but fair in rounds two and three. I think they lengthened some of the holes and placed the pins better. It does look like a great course.

Yeah looks like round one was false hope round
