90+day in MA. so we decided to drive (89 at 10:00). Did not have a great start because I realized when I got there my Golf shoes were at home!!! So I went with socks and my sandals. image.png.0c47619121581ad7387df08aa14d2886.png

Started out Par, Bogie, Par, Double Bogie, Eagle! 1 over after 5. so a 39/48 87. Right now my handicap is dropping fast. after this round it will be 18.9 (season start 22.4). All I need to do is putt better 37 putts and have been averaging 2 per hole over the past 5 rounds.

Maybe I should rethink my shoe choice!!!!

The iron play felt amazing today, and the putts were falling. Haven't felt this consistent in a long time. Can't lie seeing my 3rd score in the potential 70s got with me on hole 15 and just got tight and bladed one but recovered for a bogey.

Went back the next day to go for the score in the 70s. Was feeling it again, scrambling well, iron play was still there. My short game and putter got even hotter, 28 putts!! But back-to-back double bogies on 15/16 took my legs. Par'd out from there, another great round but missed opportunity for the 70s.

Sloppy day after about 2 inches of rain overnight, with cart paths only.  However, on a good noe, the greens held a little better than usual.  Hope the place can get a chance to dry out over the weekend.

Very much a meh day out on the course today until an injury was suffered over the last two holes. Finished despite my old back injury flaring up and that pushed me to the 83 I shot.

Broke 80 for the first time on my home course. I tried new stuff with my driver swing so I wasn’t long at all but irons play and short game were there to pick-up the broken pieces. Had 3 gross birdies and 2 other good opportunities, which is rare. I usually have 1 birdie or less.

Played Tuesday and Friday, both 50 on a par 35/70 so well over handicap.  Last hole was the best of the lot with a long straight drive with Teeless, good lofted wedge onto the green, and a 65 ft uphill one-putt par.

Played this afternoon before the big storms came rolling through, although it did rain for a little bit just before we teed off.

Had a 38 on the front, and a 39 on the back and played today with the initial thought of hitting every fairway if possible, using a variety of clubs off the tee just to ensure that I had the best chance to accomplish that goal.

I did hit 11 of 14 fairways, and those missed were just off with very playable lies.

Did manage to hit 9 GIR's after starting out missing the first four. Some of the missed greens were due to me being a little too aggressive going for pins that were tucked both left and right on the greens. Played a little more conservative or for the middle of the green, and then started to hit them fairly regularly.

Weather here for the weekend does not look good for outdoor activities, with more rain and storms forecast, but hoping it clears out for my next round on Sunday.

I had a horrible day driving the ball today. I hit just 2 fairways and both of those were very short leaving me 200+ yards out. Remarkably, I managed a birdie and par net birdie so I guess hitting the fairway makes some difference.

Well, I posted two decent rounds this week.  We are four days into our most recent aeration.  The little rain we had coupled with watering the greens resulted in the top dress sand to filter down.  So, putting today was a bit like being on a waffle iron.  At least twice today the ball was on it's way to the pin, hit an aeration hole and bounded right or left.  Overall, there's nothing I could do.

image.png.76ee0e2ba1fab19c74fa5aa268b3d0d4.png

my fairways hit was only 57%, but to be fair all the misses were within five feet from the fairway edge.  The three up and downs should have been six if a few short putts would have fell in.

As one of the MGS Paradym X testers, I had questions if these irons should stay in my bag given their lower overall trajectory and difficulty for me to hold greens.   Thought I seeking a lesson or two to help, the irons are really growing on me.  I hit some great iron shots today.  Typically I don't hit many greens in regulation (notice my 11% from above).  Our 18th hole is a longish par 5.  It's long-ish and guarded by water.  I hit a decent drive and 3 wood today leaving me about 150 yards out from the forward pin placement.  I hit my Paradym X six iron with a little draw and was pin high to the right.  I two putted down hill for a par and felt good about how well I hit the irons.   Maybe there's hope for me and the Callaways!?

Not happy with tee to approach, but short game and putting went well.  Felt like I gave up a few putts also.  Had two near chip ins, with one left just inches behind the hole for an easy tap in.

Low point was getting a 10 on #14 after a par on #13.  Fairly decent drive, though not long enough.  Shanked it into the bushes.  Found it, then hit it deeper into the bushes.  Got close after the drop, chipped it over the green down the hill between two trees.  Managed to chip it 12' uphill to the green and got a lucky putt for up and down.  Sheesh. Next hole didn't go much better, but at least got on the green by the 4th shot.  Too bad it was a par three.

One I believe that the largest handicap is 36. Two even shooting 119 with 40 shots is not 33 under. So, believe there needs to be an edit or correction.

There were 12 other players in our group today. 11 of them were playing the forward tees. I decided to give up 2 strokes and play the shorter tees. It would make a huge difference as poorly as I was hitting driver.

Imagine my joy when I found out that all these tees had been moved up to the front of the tee boxes I played yesterday. I played only slightly better than yesterday.

In my defense, they have let the rough grow, and with all the rain this year, it is a penalty to miss the fairway. We spent a lot of time looking for balls. Many times all you can do is hack it back into the fairway.

The course superintendent decided it was too easy for all the tournaments we host, so fairways are narrower, greens are perfect, but now have an additional 4’ of fringe, and rough is about 6-8”.

I made some swing changes that helped my iron play, but is not working at all with the driver. The Ping option didn’t help, but after the round, I spent some time ironing these problems out. Thankfully, the 58° Hi-Toe and LAB Putter have kept me from shooting a 200.

No sir, the world has been updated.  Max handicap is now 54 to accommodate more (newer) players without limiting to more advanced skill sets so as to get more people enjoying the game.  My current handicap, shamefully as it's been better and I should be improving, is 42.6.  It's taken a hit as I've changed my gear setup and playing style and is just now settling in.

Well I will say @Javsis right. I think your gross score to par is why the -33 is showing up. If you shot a net 79 at rose city that should be like +7, not -33
