How many wedges do you carry?

My Mizuno MP-20's are weak by today's standards

Not sure what y question.  The stock loft on Ping I 500 PW is 44.  I love my older Mizuno S5 52 x 09 blue wedge so I keep using it.  I don't need an in between, but, when I retire and can play often, I might go with a smaller gap, by getting a 48 or 50 Indi, and then a 54 Indi, just for the heck of it.  The course I play now has lots of hazard areas: under trees, hardpan and twings and leaves, but not much actual rough grass.  My old Hogan Sure Out is almost exclusively for sand, I think it must be a 10 or higher bounce, good for long rough but useless on hardpan.  I think it makes sense to match your clubs to the course.  Owning a few (!) extra clubs for different courses makes sense.  I have a great 5 hybrid but have no use for it right now.  I have a driving iron that I can use in the rare case of deep rough.

I think it comes down to your play style and game. Do you need more top of the bag options and help? then drop a wedge. Do you need more short-game options and versatility, then you are likely sacrificing a long club. I think it probably comes down to the course you are playing, but I definitely struggle with this decision.

Dropping the 58 to a 56 makes sense.  I own 2 different 60s but they stay in the garage given where I play now.  ALso I use a chipper around the green instead where the pros use a 56, 58, or 60.

I carry a 52, 56 & 58 in my bag all the time as our local courses are very firm.

I carry 4 - PW, GW (50 degree), 56, 60 - PW are my standard Mizuno Hot Metal Pro, 56/60 are Cleveland - Gaps work pretty well, but may switch out the 50 for a 52 Cleveland next year.

I play set pitching wedge 46* pxg gen 6 I had the entire set bent to 4 degree gaps up from the p wedge.  My wedges work the same I have a 50* Cleveland RTX with 11 bounce and a wide sole.  My 54* is a Taylormade MD 3 Tiger grind 56*/12 bent to 54*/14, I love this sole grind and the face just rips balls when I need it to.  My final wedge is a Renegar 58* RXf 10* bounce.  I use them all around greens and only rarely hit a lob wedge full.  The rest I hit full or with feel.

I always carry the same 4 wedges and never change out.  They are PW, AW, SW (Callaway Rogue ST Max OS) and 60* Vokey SM8.  Actually I use the Vokey as my sand wedge most often.

yes, loft deflation.  in fact, since graphite shafts throw the ball higher, the loft on the iron is pushed down to keep the same angles, not the same distance.

4 Wedges, P -45, A - 50, S - 56, L - 58.

My pitching wedge and approach wedges are part of my iron set, my sand wedge has a larger bounce and my lob wedge has a tight leading edge for those delicate chips off short grass around the green. Max distances, P - 120, A - 105, S - 90, L - 80/85.

My gaps allow me to really dial in an approach/short game. I am really confident with this line-up of wedges, all Callaway.

I am, however, open to putting a Vokey 54 & 58 combo in the bag. I would have to play around with the bounce options, but looking to get maybe the last set of clubs for my retirement.

Always great having options.

I don't hit long irons very well.  The 62 degree lets me hit shots around the green i can't hit with a 58 and I can also take a full swing with it from 75 yards.  That is a very nice option

My clubs are Cobra F7 so my PW = 46 and SW=55.  I also have a 52 which i carry all the time and a 58 and a 60 whic may get a game depending on the weather and course.

easier shots around the green and Greenside bunkers LW -60

SW mainly for flops

it depends on the course,  I have PW AW calloway dcb's with 1in extra length  and vokey sm 8 50 & 56 as the default 
the gaping works well  but if it's wet and windy, I do drop out the 56 and drop in a 3 hybrid

I'm really happy with my current wedge setup. I have a PW (at 46 degrees), 50 degree, 54 degree and 58 degree in the bag. I find this setup bridges the gaps between clubs beautifully and rarely results in a situation where I have no idea what to hit.

Looking to cull some of the 6 wedges that I use ( POORLY ). Been using mainly Cobra SnakeBite wedges. Pretty disappointed with the options in Cobra’s 2023 SnakeBite drop. Not sure when or if Cobra is going to have 2024 SnakeBite  drop.  Thinking of giving Edison wedges a go… Anybody play Edison wedges? Your thoughts and comments on those wedges would be much appreciated.

5 tool wedge guy. PW (44°), GW (50°), SW (56°), LW (60°), 64°. Rarely play a round where I don't use all 5. Other clubs are 7.5° driver, 14.5° 3W, 19.5° and 23° hybrids, 6-9 irons. Replaced the 5 iron with tbe 64° this year. Don't miss it. Gripped  down 23° has better height, spin and accuracy for holding greens. 5 iron was becoming a punchout only club. Rather have another scoring club in the bag.

Not Edison, but I did a short trial hitting Indi golf wedges at their place in Carlsbad.  Like them.  Eventually they might replace my Mizuno S5 and others Mizunos.  See my notes in a forum by RevKey on Indi. You can get conforming or nonconforming grooves on any wedge they make.

Basic pw 45 degree, good for 120 yard

Vokey 50, good for 100-115

Vokey 56, great for all types of bunkers

Vokey 60, great for flop shots over bunkers and real deep bunkers

Using something like Arccos to track your shots would be a good tool. Stats it can give you, like the number of times you have used a club, will show you what you go to on the course. 

Having anything in your bag you don't want to hit is obviously a waste of space as you'll just avoid it.

I don't really think of the pitching and gap wedges in my set as wedges.  I've been a big fan of the CBX wedges since way back.

The 52* is pretty good, but the 58* full face is like cheating.
