Beautiful day temperature wise, but a heck of a wind. Gust up to 38 mph. Down or up wind are not an issue. It’s the side wind that kills you. Additionally, the way the wind will mess with chips and putts. Hit 10 fairways and 15 greens. Had one bad double! Recorded 33 putts, but 2 were long 2 putts after hitting par 5’s in two. Tomorrow is another day!

Decent with great weather today, and a lot drier than before!  Good ball striking especially with wedges, which helped a lot and only had 25 putts because of good chipping again.

Played a lot better by doing the speed training after my round.
I thought I'd get my first sim hole in one, oh so close.
The E6 autoputt is probably a lot better than I am (on some rounds)

The lessons yesterday translated into me being on fire last night for our sim scramble league putting a -14 down, and then a -7 today. It’s still a Sim round so I would never put that score down, but I would have been even par for sure, maybe just under in real life. The course plays 6000 yards from the tips so it’s definitely short, but the elevation changes are drastic, and can be deceiving if not respected. Everything was firing so well today though, the putter was there to make sure every time I was bailed out if necessary, even though that was sparse.

All in all, small tweaks from the lesson were great and are translating really well!

Didn’t play my best round today but it still felt good to get out on the course. Managed to make the most of nice tailwind and ripped one almost 350. IMG_0588.png.a86a47172ddb9826b95da4cdc761e3fb.png

Thank you! Yes, Cowan is very exposed and had at least half the holes with horrible side winds yesterday. It was pretty darn hard.

Decent round other than only hitting 1 fairway, lol  According to stats, thought I pumped a few, guess they rolled into rough or semi rough.

EDIT- This course was 9 holes, we played it twice and the stats only showed for the back 9 I guess.  So unsure of FW's and long drive and too lazy to watch video, lol

Overall, I played better today.

image.png.c08fe39700efc61e78bc8ef55b8946ca.png

Fairways hit on my drive were about average at 79%.  Two of the three misses were within 2 feet and one of those two, the ultimate position in the rough was more valuable than being in the fairway.  My greens in regulation was up a bit.  However, a higher percentage of my misses were not short!  11% long, 11% right and 6% left.  I view that as a positive sign!

The four up and downs was a little lower than usual and the 30 putts (including a three putt) were a little high.    All in all, it was an OK round and trending toward improvement base on Tuesday's round.

Got out and played this afternoon and the front 9 was just easy going and couldn't miss a FW (6/7) or GIR (8/9).  Putting should have been better and had multiple lip outs and only 1 birdie.

Back 9, I struggled a little more with 5/7 FW's and 5/9 GIR.  Had 2 bogies and birdies my least favorite hole, the par 5 15th.

I am really liking this Newton shaft and I actually put my driver back down to 9* and still hitting it solid.  5 dot comes in hopefully tomorrow or Monday and I am interested in seeing how it performs.  Let's hope my putting shows up next time I'm hitting my irons this well.  Scores could have been much better.  Here are a few of the birdie chances I had today.

My what a hard day in the wind. Swirling wind all day with gust to 38 mph! Lucky to even shoot what I did. Hit only 6 fairways and 10 greens. Way below average. However, I was low man in our 6 groups! Come on Saturday!

I don’t normally play on Thursday but 80° and sunny in February and nothing pressing at work….. It was windy but not as windy as yesterday. They punched the fairways and fringe, and it was piled up around the greens and blowing all over them yesterday. I shot an 86 with 2 birdies one was on a par 3 earning me half the deuce pot and $175. Today, I shot a 79 and won $6.

It was still quite bumpy on the fairway and fringe. I had a shot on 6 that hit a clod on the fringe and shot into the lake. Normally, it would have bounced straight and been on the green. Although I had 2 more penalties that were 100% my fault. Short game allowed me to make bogeys so I can’t complain too much.

I took the Ping G430LST and was considering trading it for a Qi10 or Qi10Max. I’m not spinning my drives like I used to and while they are running forever, my carry number is horrendous. But I lofted it to 12° and the spin and launch were much better.

Playing pretty great lately. Yesterday was amazing weather but today (back 9) was pretty windy. I was having a lot of trouble hitting targets and my numbers. Lots of math and studying weather charts for sure. I think it was on 18 I smashed a drive about 280 with a bit of a hurting crosswind. Took my second shot with a 6i from about 180 thinking I might lose a club to the wind after getting around the corner. To my surprise, my 6i went about 150 yds and was still short of the green. Luckily, 18 is a pretty short par 5 and I had a great chip for an easy birdie putt.

Another great week for Season 2 of the Virtual Championship Tour (VCT) postings!  We have 25 golfers who posted 36 rounds so far.  That's just nine posts from last week's total number of rounds and we still have the weekend!

What could be driving this push?  In Season 1 with two weeks to go, we had 14 golfers posting 28 scores all week.   This year we have almost twice the number of golfers posting 50% more rounds.  Yes, Season 2 has shown a significantly more participation from golfers all over.  Yes, weather in some (but not all) portions of the world is getting better as we approach Spring.  Is there another reason for the number or rounds posted?

Oh yeah, the year end MyGolfSpy Cup VCT Championship!   Could positioning to be in the top 32 golfers to participate in this first-time tournament be a driver?  Let's look at the Week 47 posted numbers based on the Week 44 Season 2 VCT standings update:

  • 12 players in the top 32 have posted so far this week.
  • Some may say that the top 3 have separated themselves from the field.  Yes, that's probably true and they will be fighting these next two weeks to see who's crowned Season 2 winner.  However, there's a lot more to be playing for.
  • Six of the top ten golfers have posted in Week 47 so far.
  • Half of the golfers from positions 10-20 have posted scores trying to stay or get into the top 10.
  • Eleven of the top 32 golfers in the last season long update have posted in Week 47.
  • An interesting number is 5.  Five of the next thirteen golfers on the bubble (33-45) have posted so far this week in their efforts to get into the MGS Cup.  Those golfers are within only 300 points from sneaking into that last spot.
  • Why should the bubble players keep posting even if they think they can't get to number 32?  Due to a variety of circumstances, a few players currently within the top 32 have indicated they will not be available to play in the year-end, three-week tournament.  Therefore, those spots will be filled with selected golfers who have posted regularly but just missed the final cut off.

So, lessons learned?  We have had a great year of participation in the VCT Season 2.  There are several races that have yet to be decided.  The MGS Cup VCT Championship adds a new wrinkle that brings in a broader group of "winners" this year.  The race to the final 32 is still on.  If you didn't make it, hang in there because there's spots that will need to be filled.  And finally, it's not over until it's over.

Good luck to everyone these last two weeks.  It's going to be exciting to see how this all plays out!

Windy day, played a lot of low punch shots to cut through wind and keep ball down to get roll on to green, took advantage of down wind holes to get close - never seems like the downwind holes are equal in number to the against the wind holes!  Missed 2 other good birdie chances, so round could have been really good.

Return to form!! I know it's still a plus-10, but lipped out a birdie (cruelty), and missed another four by a combined 6", so it's one of those rounds where I played consistently and gave myself opportunities.

Played the new Chrome Tour X (front nine) and the Chrome Tour (back nine). Kind of stunned by how good they feel, especially the X, since I prefer a softer feel but need a spinnier ball.

Also, that triple-track is legit - I know it's not for everyone, but man...I loved putting with it. Made lining up putts just THAT much easier, and setting up to it even easier.
