How'd you play?

Played the river course in Augusta, some of the fastest greens I have played on this trip. Shot 45,45 I couldn't get my irons dialed in, I hit 8 iron and I am short. Next hole same yardage hit 7 iron and I am long. Than I miss 5 putts inside 7 feet by miss reading the break. Really frustrating when you are hitting the really well and don't score well. 1 more try tomorrow before we have to go back home to pa. Play well everyone and have fun.

I played this morning with the sole intention of testing out my Galway Bay rain gear because we finally had a chance of rain.  I started on the back nine with overcast skies and immediately doubled the 10th a par 5 that runs in the valley along a wet weather creek.  I tried out the speeder shaft in the driver today and have determined it is not a good fit.  It has too much whip and caused me some trouble on the back 9.  I shot 5 over with only 3/7 fairways hit.  I decided on the front 9 to leave the driver in the bag and only play my 3 wood which allowed me to hit 6/7 fairways and 5/9 greens for a even score with 1 birdie and a Bogey on the 9th.

My least favorite hole on the course.

Got to play the back 9 today to add to my score of 41 from yesterday’s front 9, and went and beat it for another new 🚨PB🚨 40! Had I not botched 18, I could have gotten in under 40 and had a chance to break 80 (with combining yesterday’s round) but wasn’t meant to be. Hit some great shots throughout the round, and while driver wasn’t as good approach was as good as I can ever remember it. Stayed a part of the aceless club on hole 15, missing the pin by about 5 feet (pic below). Was an AWESOME 9 and if it’s the last golf I play this year, I went out on a high note. Combined score 81, and I now know I can score low 80s and hope to be able to hit enough balls over the winter to build off it next year! Arccos round summary included as well!

Thanks man! It honestly was like an out of body experience, I have NEVER played so well. +2 going into the 18th was a cool feeling. Since putting the Scotty in the bag my confidence in putting has skyrocketed and I feel like that has carried over into the rest of my bag. Hit some long approaches today from the 160-180 range that normally I swing and pray, where today I was executing as well as I possibly can. Was just a blast. My Mevo came today so swinging through the winter with some basic ball data feedback will be awesome.

That's awesome!  It's always nice standing over the ball and having that confidence that your next shot is going to do what you want it to.  My front 9 today was like that for me.

Enjoy the Mevo!  I plan on build an addition on the house to make room for a simulator in the next year or so.

Ultimate dream is a full sim…maybe once the kids graduate college in 16+ years 😂. Would have to do a sim shed or bust out the concrete in the lower level to dig a room deeper for adequate ceiling height….not that I’ve been planning it 🤪

Another round, another struggle off the tee. 43(+7) & 43(+7) for 86(+14) at my home course.

4 penalty strokes total. All incurred off the tee! Had a decent game until a pull-hook OB left on the HCDP 1 16th hole.

I am happy with my putting as I hitted the cup basically everytime and had 4 brutal lip-outs. Things are close to lining up.

4/14 FIR, 6/18 GIR, 34 putts.

Today we played later, 9:40 so the fairways were not covered with dew. The down sid3 is as the day progressed, after 11:00, the wind picked up, sometimes a 2 clubber.

i shot a 44/45 with one birdie, #14 par 4.

I messed up shooting 5 over on the final 3 holes……

Thanks fellas! It has been a grind this year and I have worked my butt off. Feels good to see it pay off. Also nice to see I can shoot a decent score when it comes together and not EVERY aspect has to be firing every hole to still score. Had good drives, good approach, good to great putting. Just an awesome two days of golf. Next step is to do it over 18 consecutive holes!

Great day.  Okay score.  The fates aligned and I rolled into the little par3/exec course near me to find it deserted.  Played the 18 hole par 3 at +9 in two hours.   While finishing up with a birdie!  I saw that the exec was still deserted so I went out for another 9...  finishing at +2 with two three putts.  🤪  Also finished that in an hour.  Its so are to have an open run at a course these days.  It was a blast and reminded me of the post great recession days when I was first learning and weekday tee times were wide open after 9:00 A.M.  To be clear, I don't miss those days and I'm glad the game is growing, but that certainly was one of the perks.

To recap:  27 holes, 3 hours, 1 birdie, 16 pars, 9 bogeys, 2 doubles, 3 FIR, 14 GIR, 4/8 up and down chances.

While we theoretically have another league night left, the weather for next week is looking pretty iffy so last night may have been the last round for the year. I played pretty well and shot a +6 41 with a birdie. Putting was kind of sketchy - I lipped out a 10-footer for birdie and missed two 3-4 footers while making a 35-ish footer for birdie. Distance control was very good on long putts, I just struggled to get the short putts started on the proper line. Approach game was mediocre, as usual. Driver was good and short game was pretty good although the greens were very soft and I my brain could not convince my body to hit the ball a little further than I would typically want/need to.

Got to go out this past Sunday to a course I have never played, Green River Golf Club in Corona CA.  What is the saying to stay away from?  NO 6's on par 5's well I didn't that 🥲.  Also didn't get going until the back 9 along with those triple bogeys.  I am still trying to figure out how to warm up before the round of golf, I did go to the range and hit a few but alas did not help me at the start.  I did take away that my putting and chipping practice has come in to save some of these holes.  My eagle on 18 was a chip in from 50 ft 🙌.  So from this round I take away that my driver was staying in the fairway and chipping and putting were keeping me there.  Now on to practicing them long irons as that's what pushed me into the trees and out of the fairways

I got out early this morning before the mens league teed off and played a quick 9.  Played decent but had a hard time on the extra wet greens getting my speed right.  I left several birdie opportunities 8-10 inches short.  Ended up with a 39.  On a good note, the few times I hit driver, I was keeping it in the fairway.

Played Den Brae Golf Course in NH on Saturday and even though the ground was wet(not swampy) I played pretty well into the last 2 holes. Was competing against my cousin and was proving I have gotten ALOT better since my last round. Let’s put it this way last time we played I was like +34 on the front 9 so bad. But this time it’s been like a year since playing again and I was +1 going into 8/9 holes and was beating him by 2 strokes, driver had been decent all day and putter was on fire. 8th hole I tee up a little to low and tried to compensate and ended up topping/healing it left into the next fairway, teed another up and went underneath it basically chipping it. Tried to make up with a 3wood and caught it perfect and buzzed the green and tripled. 9th hole just a slightly poor tee shot, the topped a 5wood. Pulled my 8+7 iron and walked to the ball, realizing I had too much club I tried to bump and run an 8 and ended up running the green for another triple…. Finish +7 over 9 holes and slouched my way off the course

Been playing for about 2 years in total. Winter breaks and a 6month period when I got sick. Starting to feel like myself again and recently played a “okay” round.
I currently have custom fit Cobra LTDx irons/wedges, a Vokey 60(cause my short game has been the best part of my game, and a Maverick 9 deg. Driver. Driving is the worst part of my game so My 4 iron usually takes alot of the long game abuse.

Finally got back on the course. It had been 3 weeks. 37/42 for 79 total. 9/14 fairways and hit 11 greens but had 34 putts. Solid ball striking but I’ve been plagued with the shanks on a few shots each round lately. One caused and double and I got away with a par on the other but they just come out of nowhere.

Only played 5 holes today - unseasonably warm, beautiful day here and *everyone* was out!

Even went there late thinking the crowd might thin by then, but there was also extra maintenance going on so I ran into a bit of a logjam and the last few holes would've been really slooow...

Anyway .. the good news is I had an atypically really good ball striking day!

Driver, 5W, irons and wedges were all working nicely .. out of the 5 holes only had 2 not-so-good shots - one was a 7W attempted approach I may have stood a little too close and tried a little too hard and yanked it left (but got a super lucky tree wedge back into the fairway!) and one was an 8i on a Par 3 I just pushed out to the right (but hey ball was sitting pin high and I came close to making an up and down!).

Putting was streaky though - a few first putts were left pretty close but otoh I also 3-putted TWICE in only five holes .. 🤦‍♂️ .. which led to doubles .. otherwise I was making what I like to call "almost pars / easy bogeys".

Best hole was the first Par 5 - hit a great tee shot, followed by a great 5W to get over the hill and through the dogleg right to leave the ball lying middle of the fairway about 75 yards from the flag, and then a nice wedge that bounced just short-left of the flag and rolled about 15 feet past .. got really close to sinking the birdie putt but hey really happy with an "easy" 😉 par on that hole!!

I played two-ball worst-ball the entire hole, twice this week for nine holes after work.  42/39.  Man, that's tough sledding!  I didn't make ONE birdie and only really saved one par putt of any noteworthy length.

It sure teaches you the importance of just hitting the middle of the green and not short siding yourself by firing at flags.  That 4 footer you drained to save par isn't a par until you save it a second time.

Worth trying if you don't mind getting slapped around a little bit by your own mistakes.  LOL.

Shot 47 my driving today was really off, that is usually the best part of my game. It was 72deg today, that is coming to an end real quick. Today might be the last time we play in a while, next week the highest temperature is 50 and Wednesday there might be snow flurries and 40deg. Hopefully we get a couple more nice days before winter. Play well everyone and all you people who live in the south I'm jealous.

Partly cloudy, breezy, and mid 70's for temperature on October 27 in Michigan made it a great day to be out on the course. Played with a co-worker and his wife, and SWMBO came along for the ride and to socialize. Course was crowded, but with this weather here it is easily understandable.

Played extremely well on the front 9, the wind increased in speed as the afternoon moved along, and some iron shots I played were to limit any big scores, rather than taking a club which could have led to trouble spots around the greens.

Also had 2 penalty strokes on the back 9 due to not being able to find the balls in the fairways due to both the large amount of leaves, and soft, mushy ground in spots. That happened on holes 13 and 18, and without those strokes would have had an even better score.

Shot a 77 total, with a long drive of 258 yards.

Hit 10 of 14 fairways, 9 of 18 greens, and had a total of 31 putts.

Added some pictures here of the "colors of fall" here, as I know some other forum members like them.

Southeast Michigan, actually about 35 miles north of downtown Detroit.

The colors turn earlier in the fall season the farther north you would travel north.

Ok.  I have family in Lake City.  They had a dairy farm for years until recently.
