Looking for soft grip recommendations

GCSAA Supt

Recommended Posts

I used to use full cord grips with no golf glove, but in recent years, dry, cracked skin, and eczema have forced me into soft grips such as the Winn Dri-tac.  I like these grips but I find I'm only getting 1/3 to 1/2 season out of them (I usually play about 80 round a year).  Less with the Driver and most often used irons.

Am I expecting too much out of a set of grips?  What are other people using that need a softer grip.  I have looked at the Golf Pride CP2 but the price is a bit high.

Playing that much, how often do you regrip?

DriTac or CP2's like jlukes suggested.

Larkin has sale on the Z5 grip going on now. Might be worth a look for ya. I haven't tried it yet though.

Good luck.

Winn grips are the only ones I️ can think of that off really soft grip, unfortunate their grips suck if you want to use them for more than 3 rounds of golf. At the price they charge it's absolutely ridiculous. Worst grips the market for cost vs. longevity. As far as I'm concerned they suck. Anyway, One of the Pure grips models is very spongy at least that's what it felt like to me. I️ think it's the pure pro model. It was too soft for me.

I was going to post Dri-Tac's without even thinking about it, and I see it was the first suggestion out of the box by Jlukes, and for good reason.  That would be my choice.

Thanks for the input folks.  I just grabbed a golf pride CP2 to try on my driver.  I'll see how it goes and let everyone know.

I did try a couple of Lamkin grips and wasn't real crazy about them.  I'll also order a couple of the Pure brand to try.

Thanks!

Jim

I just love the dri-tac signature feel. High performance Soft feel and durability are mutually exclusive on Golf grips. I made a mistake of using the lampkin grip wipe on a new dri-tac and it stripped the protective coating messed it up royally.

You can have the cake and eat it too with hard(er) grips. I can play with all kinds of grips except for tour wrap, but 2 of my wedges always get the dri-tac, I have to replace them pretty much every 3 months.

I believe superstroke has a dri tac like grip coming out early next year too

It's out now. I tested it at a Golf Galaxy. It's very similar.
