Whewww, that was quite a roller coaster!  It's always hard following a major event but I'm sure The Travelers will do a commendable job.  My quick look at the field is that it is pretty healthy, but after that grind at The Country Club, who knows who might opt to take a week off.  TPC River Highlands should offer a little reprieve from last week and we might see more than a handful of finishing scores in the red. Travelers has been a great event sponsor and donates 100% to charities; which has contributed $46M to charities since 1952 and helped over a 100 different entities throughout New England.

Harris English returns to play, to defend last years title, following his hip surgery.  I personally have missed seeing him this season and hope he quickly returns to form.

Don't forget to make your pick for this weeks winner https://runmypools.com/JRMPNWWF.  Good luck!

Harris English wins Travelers Championship in historic playoff

This is a real bummer.  First Jonny, now Nick… maybe we can get Darren Clarke to take a seat in the booth.

Good riddance to Faldo. Insufferably cocky and out of touch with todays game. We need announcers that talk about the game today and Not always make it about themselves or how the game used to be

Honestly can't say I'll miss him. Thankfully mostly watch on Sky so don't often listen to him, but truly don't enjoy when he is on the broadcast. I'm sure some will miss him, but as the game and tour heads in this new direction it will be good to have a fresh voice along side whoever else is in the booth I hope.

Faldo... good golfer... poor announcer.

I hope the next person has attended announcer school.

I think the announcers try and the color guys have to fill air time but as amateurs become more educated about the game you start to realize much of what they say is total BS.  Unfortunately the realities of how t play successful golf aren’t exciting.  Every golf hole and shot is planned and calculated and it just doesn’t make for good announcing.  Much more exciting to say you can’t believe he is firing at pins instead of he pushed that iron shot 30 feet right of his target or that they land all their shots on a blanket and not talk about their 60 yard wide dispersion with a driver.

Yes... announcing an event that we play would give them much more fodder.  🤣

And Kopeka is out. No more Mr. I get up for Majors. Something changed after the injuries. No more fire. A number of the younger guys get up just as strong with more complete games. T-55 isn't making it. Pure speculation - he and DJ have extensive "teams" to support. Their WAGs are also into having large grouping and parties. Takes money, lots of it. Less work, more time off, money for nothing (song there somewhere) and still some leftover major championship qualifications. No brainer for them. I don't see even a superficial  understanding of the source money.

Back to the tourney. Who's burnt out? Did Dahlman drink a hundred beers during this week? A dark horse? Great week for shorter more accurate hitters - Brian Harman?. I used to play there on occasion with a member when it was Edgewood Golf Club. Big change when it was redone as TPC. Still some recognizable bones remain.

Edgewood a long time ago.  Long enough I wasn’t playing then.  We lived about 15 minutes from TPC.

I'm truly a geezer. I grew up in Plainville. My dad's machine shop was in Berlin, just about on the turnpike. Dad's secretary's husband was the member. He and I played lots of golf at Edgewood in the summer when I was back from college. He was one of those short but straight hitters who could chip and putt you to death. My game involved exploring the countryside - you know - taking unusual and challenging lines. The road/fairway less traveled.

I grew up in Middlefield area.  I’m old enough to remember going to Stock Car Races in Plainville.  I had a couple friends who lived on TPC so played there often.

Yes, the stock car races. Joe Tinty's stadium, 1948 to 1981. It was loud. Some history - sorry about straying from golf.

Question, did Theegala decide to hit that sand shot instead of playing safe or did the caddy influence him? To play that well and make a bad choice on the final hole just totally puzzles me.

Good question, I was trying to hear their conversation.  I thought his Caddie said to go for it but I’m not sure.
