Meanwhile, on the other end of the spectrum, I hit a wall in session three last night, here's the details.

In a word, frustrated. In another, disheartened. I know the covid break took something away from me, but seeing everyone else hit top ends and really moving things along while I'm staying stagnant is very demotivating to say the least. We continue to push onward though, into week 9 now, not giving up

Be interested to see any change in your on-course data though. I feel like I haven't been progressing much with my numbers in the SuperSpeed protocol, but driving range numbers when I'm hitting an actual ball are definitely trending up.

Just about to start the last week session for level 2. I feel like I've peaked a bit at around 112-114mph post train driver swing speed so I've gained around 4-6mph so far.

I did manage to test the PRGR against the GC2 at my club and was really pleased with the readings from both units.

Had only around 1-2mph difference between the 2 although distances did vary quite a bit but that could be down to ball strike.

From a game point of view, I've been focusing on dispersion rather than all out distance as I've been struggling with keeping the ball in play.

As a result I've not been using the driver on the course - only 3 wood and new JPX921 HM 4 iron. BUT...both clubs going much further that previous to this training. I'm now getting 280-290y regularly with the 3 wood off the tee (and one miracle shot from behind a tree, light rough to 10 yards short of the water on a par 5 - 275y with a cut to shape in onto the fairway!!).

I do feel a bit faster but I think my swing has become more 'managed' for the speed I'm swinging, if that makes sense.

One week to go and I'll post my results.

Just finished week 10.  I've been in a plateau for a few weeks, with pre being around 100 - 101, and post 106.  The swings with the training sticks in-between have fluctuated for the most part, with the lightest stick topping at 120 and staying around there.

However, in yesterday's final session, I hit a post driver swing speed of 109.  It was great to finish on a high note, especially on a day where I was really struggling with energy.  I plan on recording the final speed with an actual ball tomorrow at the range.

Having now hit at three different sims in the last 6 days, including two with trackman, I have to conclude that the numbers in the 120s for my driver were likely misreads 😞 It happened enough times that I believed that it was possible; I definitely saw increases of 20 mph for my 7 iron, so it seems plausible that my driver increased that much as well. I'm going to have to decide how to edit the data so it still reflects things in a relatively consistent way.

On the plus side, it seems my cruising speed for hard driver swings now is in the 112 to 116 range. My contact is super inconsistent at those speeds unless I'm having a great day; I'm going to experiment with actually slowing down a touch or choking up on driver a bit to see if I can improve consistency, as I'm not getting the carry distances I should get with that swing speed.

I'm also going to be regripping my swing sticks today with mid-size grips; my arthritis in my hands has returned with a vengeance after I went to PXG on Saturday to try their gen 6 challenge. I couldn't get dialed in after the first 10 to 15 swings, so every config we tested was super inconsistent and not worth switching to; I'm stubborn though and I did around 80 to 90 full speed swings. My endurance is definitely phenomenal compared to what it was before; I stayed in the 110 to 115 range for all those swings. However, my body definitely is still feeling it, even today, as my back and hands both hurt.

Alright, week 9 of the protocol is done, and I'm going to keep it sweet and simple.

The numbers are similar to last week's; we topped out at 112 on yellow, 105 on Green, and 101 on Blue. Basically, we're back to around mid-week 7, or right when I had the finger injury and then the COVID. The only downside to that is that I don't think we'll be looking at trying to push the higher end of where I thought I would be after the end of the 10-week period, and I'm starting to come to grips with being okay with that... although it's taking some time for me to get there.

Although I will note that I am playing a bit more as we get to the tail end of our season (funny how that works), and while distance gains are difficult to quantify off-hand... when I'm swinging through quick and smooth and to a balanced finished on the front foot the contact is nice, and the results are solid. I'm long in spots right now, but my swing is still nowhere near midseason or close-of-season form due to work, life, and other things.

On the downside, I'm fighting tempo, which some said may be a problem, and I shrugged it off at the start of the thread. I was dumb to do that. My tempo has been a problem with the driver since last year and I'm fighting it now, leading to inconsistent strikes, tops, and just not much that's worth reporting on from a consistency standpoint.

So the next question is what is the next step going forward as we get closer to closing this test? First, we finish week 10, and we push for something closer to where we were at the end of level 1. Second, we begin the maintenance process of level one. In the northeast, winter is long, golf season is short, and while I can start ramping up for level two in the late winter (say February), the maintenance phase begins in earnest here soon. I'm also going to look into the potential of adding at least one more SuperSpeed-associated product to my kit. I'm thinking of starting with the Squeeze as that's something I can do without hitting shots, which will be key in the winter. I do think the Force Pedals are also in my future, but that's more maybe in between starting level 2 so later February when I can get to ranges or indoor stuff easier.

Onward to week 10, it's been a fun ride so far... and here's hoping it continues to be fun for y'all.

Final Review!!!

I just submitted my final review of the superspeed training program. Please click the link above to go check it out. I had an amazing time testing this product and hope that at least one person finds my review helpful for them. There was so much more learned than just how to get more speed. I really look forward to everyone reading it and hearing your comments.

So, with one session to go, here's were we stand. This week has been a rebounding week, and one that has impressed me. Those were the best step swing numbers I've ever put up, and it depends quite a bit on technique and feel to get those higher speeds there. Processing the correct kinetic chain correctly is something that I'm going to need more work on, and shacking up with a coach or a plan to better utilize that may unlock even more with more assistance. One more session though, we'll see what speeds can be reached tonight

Hey Everyone, first post is updated with my review! You can find it here.

I know the limit we shoot for is under 2000 words, and after some edits, we got I think 9 words underneath. This is probably my longest review ever, but for a product as different and requiring so much introspection as SuperSpeed, the length is necessary, I hope you can forgive little ol' me.

Stage Two of the SuperSpeed Review – Official MGS Forum Review by DStar - September 2023

Intro

So, after a few extra weeks due to some personal issues at home, I’ve completed the 10 week program.

What do I think? On the whole I’ve found the process very interesting, if a little hard to maintain at times. The process is simple enough, follow the instructional videos and information provided by SuperSpeed.

I did find it tricky getting to grips with the ‘step’ in the first part of the process and then again with the ‘heel’ section in the second section. But I stuck at it and managed to feel I was doing it correctly in the end.

There seemed to be a bit of a flat spot where I thought I’d peaked but that passed and I managed to achieve some impressive figures.

Physical Product (18 out of 20)

On the whole, I found the set of sticks & PRGR personal monitor really well built and the quality has really impressed me.

The grips have lasted well and the batteries have not needed changing in the PRGR yet.

I think the only thing I would like to see is a ‘nicer’ grip (something like a GolfPride Tour Velvet for example) as the cost of the kit is quite high and feel that would improve the initial impression.

Program (15 out of 20 points)

I found the instructions easy enough to follow. I did find the process was a little repetitive (read a little boring) when I hit a plateau as I felt like I was not gaining anything but just repeating the same thing over & over. Turns out, this is the idea!!

I had a little help from Tyler Standifird with regards to the graphs I was seeing based on my results but he was super helpful. I was using Google rather than Excel for my charts. This is something that could be addressed as many people use Google rather than Microsoft.

I think  the plan does work but doing 10 weeks in a row proved to be tricky for me as I had a few family issues that needed all of my time. I guess, if you’re doing the program at your own speed, it does still work. It did for me!

Does it need to be 10 weeks? I think so, just not 10 weeks in a row.

On the whole, the items in the kit are all you need. As said, a better grip would be nice and maybe a case for the PRGR but that’s not the end of the world.

I think 3 times a week is, normally, pretty easy to do but life does get in the way sometimes. It can become a little monotonous but doing the same thing makes it easier to do as you know what is required. Simple instructions makes for simple exercises.

I will be looking to see if there is a follow up as I’d like to keep working on my speed. Longer drives = shorter shots in, what’s not to like with that!

Performance (38 out of 40 points)

The results from the routine have definitely paid dividends. Ive seen an increase from 105mph to around 113/114mph so around 10%! This is much better than I thought it would be after the initial few weeks but proves that the methods do work if you stick at it.

My distance gains have been hard to measure as I’ve not been using driver much as it has become a bit waywards. I don’t think this is down to the training as all my other clubs have not been affected. I have been using my 3W off the tee and I do feel like I’m hitting it well and have gained yards.

My overall game doesn’t feel like it’s changed too much as I’ve not had a great deal of time to play this summer due to various things out of my control but my playing partners have mentioned I have a faster but more controlled swing.

The training is definitely something I will try and keep up with and I use the sticks as part of my pre-game warm up so that will stay too.

Keep it or Re-Gift? (20 out of 20 points)

I’ll definitely be keeping the set. The sticks have become a valuable part of my pre-game warm up and the PRGR is really helpful when practicing to see how much/little effort I’m putting in on any given day.

It’s also going to earn me a beers as a couple of my playing partners really want to give it a go so I think I’ll be loaning it out.

Based on my results, there’s quite a lot of interest in the process and I’ve had many conversations with fellow players ( and the club pro) about the products and methods.

Conclusion

If you want to gain some speed and are happy to put the consistent effort in I would highly recommend the SuperSpeed system.

It worked for me so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work for you - IF you are prepared to put the time in.

I had started to think I’d plateau’d but saw some really good gains towards the end of the program.

So, with most of you having your final reviews up, has anyone seen any jumps or continued gains?  And, how are your on course results?

I'm also curious...who's planning to really focus on their SuperSpeed training in the offseason?  It's a great time to really sink into speed training...

So Hayes, I've been a bit lax in the maintenance phase, but we've been doing some work. Dealing with a heavy work crunch and some other ailments have slowed that progress a bit, but work will be going soon in winter to really try and keep maintenance going. The squeeze is coming, just waiting for BF or something to make that order happen as we're trying to keep spending tight right now before our big family trip to Tennessee for Thanksgiving.

Right now, swings are down ever so slightly in this phase, but keeping around 108-110 with Yellow, 104-106 with Green, and 101-103 with Blue on the right side. Left side a bit slower than where we were, but mid 80's with yellow, low 80's with Green, and high 70s-low 80's with Blue.

One thing I never really thought about, and maybe this is because in my training I didn't hit many balls and I've been talking about how I've been topping driver is that the program wants you to swing above the ground, and maybe that pattern has hurt my actual swing path. I find it interesting I'm launching hybrid and 3 wood better when my misses with those have been steep fattings and wedges are a bit clippier now when I used to take big fats from time to time. A consequence I really never thought about that much until now that the season is over.

I'll post more about this in my review when it goes up later this week, but my on-course results have been good, and the program doesn't seem to have had any negative effects on my swing. I don't plan on doing more SuperSpeed training in the offseason though, I think focusing on other areas would be more beneficial for my game. I'll be lending my set to my father-in-law though, so I'll report back on how it goes for him.

I have been dormant for awhile, unfortunately haven’t been able to train much or get out on the course. I got out for 18 two weeks ago and all the gains I had were still there on the course. I played a solid round with matching distances to when I was training. I have to get to the range and test my speed to see what has remained. Once I get home next week I should be able to test it out.
