Back from hunting and a little rusty! The trigger finger was too active, ha ha. A lot of overly active right hand. Some bad hooks and overly active hands. To top it off I putted and chip poorly. Other than that Mrs. Lincoln how was the play!!! We will be better later in the week!

Today was not my best round.  

My driving accuracy was up a bit to 86% (missed two fairways by a total of about 5 yards), but I was consistently short-ish in length.  My Greens in Regulation were about I'm used to.  However, my up and downs were significantly worse at only one for the round.  That was a combination of not great chipping and putts burning the edges of the cup.  

Unfortunately, my scoring doesn't reflect that I'm actually hitting my test Callaway Paradym X irons better.  After seeking professional help (getting a lesson), I've implemented several slight changes that have yielded some improvement.  Now it's putting the other pieces of my game together so I can score better.

I got out and played this morning and had a great front 9, shooting even.  Back 9 had 4 bogies and 1 birdie.

I am working on some swing changes with my driver and working on better rotation.  It has been a little frustrating at times.  I changed out the Ventus this morning with a XS shaft to keep the ball in the middle and did well with 10/14 FW's hit.  I don't hit the shaft high and lose a little distance but I have a game tomorrow and need to keep it consistent.

OK, I'm expecting a lot of sympathy here, but we teed off early this morning and it was 67 degrees with 20+ mph winds.  Brrrrrrr!  For those who haven't migrated South, it's amazing how fast your blood thins!  For Key West it's the coolest it's been since last early Spring.  Throw in the "wind chill" and it was brisk this morning!

I had what I would count as a "classic Golf2Much" round.  I short 83, with 80% fairways hit, 11% greens hit and 5 up and downs.  

It should have been worse, however my improved chipping and putting on half the holes made up for some questionable iron approach shots.  You know, the kind where you say to yourself "I can do better than that!".  Throw in some erratic putting and the round could have been better.

Next week I'll be experimenting with a change in eye glass prescription.  For as long as I can remember, I've played golf with progressive lens regular and sunglasses.  I never really noticed the difficulty with my head position and accurately seeing the ball.  My optometrist and optician as well as the online company I ordered my glasses from suggested single vision glasses.  So I ordered a pair of REKS Sling-Blade sunglasses with golf optimized Trivex color boosting rose amber single vision lens and a pair very close to my current indoor frames from Hip Optical.  My regular Hip Optical glasses arrived in three days, and they fit perfect (and only $79 a pair with my prescription).  My distance vision was very good, but I'll need to look under or over the lens to see the scorecard.  When the sunglasses arrive, I'll be trying out the new optical package and see if single vision is truly better than progressive lens!

Wow it was hard out there today! Cold and windy is one thing. However, today the winds were gusting and continuously changing directions. Sometimes it changed during a swing. I felt very good to get in with 75. On top, the greens were firm and fast. They did not hold shots! I hit 13 greens, but had a horrible 35 putts. Was glad to get the horse into the barn!

This week played Lahinch, a lovely and extremely challenging links course on the NW coast of Ireland and is rated within the top 100 golf courses in the world.  Pictures courtesy of the Lahinch golf club website.

Like many links courses, if you don't drive the ball straight, you spend a lot of time in the mounds, fescue and other gnarly stuff. My driver decided to take the scenic route so I spent much time visiting the sheep in the pasture

After 9 holes, I was already 10 over and wanting to head to the pub for a pint of Guinness.  Back nine much better.  Now I have to visit this place in real life.  The only thing missing was the wind and rain.

Played a SIM round at Spanish Bay in anticipation of the front nine being our destination for our Top Tracer League round that will get played tomorrow. Started out on fire, with birdies on 4 of the first 5 holes. Cooled off considerably throughout the round to finish a respectable but disappointing 4 over

Today was one of those days the stars aligned, and I played better than I have in four months!  

Though I'm usually good at hitting fairways in regulation (around 70% or a little higher), I only missed two today.  I hit into a fairway bunker on the second longest hole (still got a bogey) and pared from the rough on another par four.  The difference today was seven up and downs and 25 putts.  Now the 25 putts looks better than it should given the number of up and down.  Still, 11 one putt greens is still pretty good.  I can say at least three of the two putts were either on the edge or did a 180 degree trip around the hole. 

We actually had a perfect day for golf here in Key West for once in the last several weeks.  It's been either cool (for us...I know there's not a lot of sympathy) or 25-35 mph winds.  Our groups are the first off at 6:50 AM or so.  It was about 75 degrees with a whisper of wind.  The wind did pick up later during the round, but nothing like we've seen.  It doesn't get much better than that!

The challenge will be if I can continue the improvements next week.  We'll see!

After yesterday's debacle of a round, I got out today with my normal group.  It was a much different round and much improved.  Wind was blowing hard today and had a couple of the holes played really well for driver.  I'm still working on finding that swing but progress is progress.

Felt good to actually show up to the course and play my handicap.

This day was weird. Started out fairly warm and then heavy winds and a cold front entered the picture. Hit 14 greens and had 33 putts. Had 4 birdies and two bogeys. One an unforced three putt from the fringe. Missed a 2 foot par putt, ouch! The other was a bad break off a tee shot. Hit a slope the wrong way and went across the fairway into the hazard. However, very happy with 2 under today. Struck the ball very well and solid all day!

So great to be out this week - actually played Sunday in a scramble that my team won (!), which was pretty incredible. 

Got out again on Friday, and after a ROUGH start (+7 thru 4), managed to play the remaining 14 holes in +6. 

Played the Srixon Z-Star I got over Black Friday, and really loved how good they felt. Putting was pretty amazing - two-putted from 35+ three times, and missed by a combined 5" over those three. 

Wish I had those first four holes back, though

This entire week it has been very windy. 25 mph like windy. The good news was Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, I drove the ball better than I have in many moons. The bad news was, I didn’t do anything else well. I had 2 rounds in the 90’s. I can’t really blame the wind. I simply struck the ball like crap all week  

Today, I didn’t drive the ball particularly well, or even hit most of my iron shots well, but what I did do was hit the wedges well and made some putts. I was really surprised by my score because I had 5 pars that were looking like bogies at best.
