That looks painful, especially if you're putting the pressure on it with the overlap grip. I can see why going to interlock would be a pain for a round, it always makes my fingers hurt.

I hope it gets to feeling better soon.

I’m wondering if the lighter grip tension was a reason why short game excelled today?

I made 6 par saves inside 8 feet today which saved me. Thanks brother 😊

I would think the lighter grip would be good for short game and it's the one thing you can look at as a positive to come out of your pain. I still hate you're deleting with it, I hate seeing good people suffer.

My wife is at home recovering from surgery so I had to tread lightly describing my pain. While golfing. But she still loves me.

Thanks for the kind words. Give it two more days then it’ll be a doctor visit.

Played a round this afternoon and man was it a scorcher.  It was a very off and on round with a double, triple and 3 birdies with a few bogies mixed in on the card.  Ended up at 79.

Had some great shots and some absolute horrible ones that were all tempo based.  I knew making a swing change was going to bring some challenging rounds but I'm ready to get things sorted out.

I could have played 9 holes with how long it took me to mow.... and that's just the front yard!  😆

Here we go again.....although the 9's were closer together.

Managed to shoot 3 over on the front, 2 bogies, 1 double and 1 birdie...was happy with 39.  Then, the back attacked back.  5 bogies without a single birdie.  However, on #15, which is the hardest hole on the course I was on the green in two.  Drive in the fairway, 4H to the green.  Sadly, the ball rolled to the top of the green.  A very delicate putt down hill and a tap in and par it was.  Kinda felt like I stole one there.  Such a hard hole for the old guys, like me.  15 is a drive well uphill, then bending to the right with a bunker in the elbow.  Cutting the corner is out of my wheel house, so I tend to go left a bit...which makes the hole play a bit longer.  But, me and my hybrids are coming to an agreement.  So, things are looking up.  All-in-all 39 on the front, 41 on the back for an 80.  Not bad, but I know I can do better!

The putter I mentioned before has found its way back to Edwin Watts.  I used their 90 day return policy.  Today, I used my ancient Ping G2 Anser with a relative thin grip (kinda mimics the original grip).  Putted pretty well having not used it in years (31 putts).  The return of "old faithful" may translate into more confidence on the greens...and putting is all about confidence.

Another reason I moved. I had 6 acres to mow. Even with my zero turn I was a 4 hour round. And not the round I wanted to play. Now with 3/4 acre I’m done in 15 minutes.

Looks like it could be a common bacterial skin infection. I had one on my toe a few weeks ago that I had to see my Doctor for, but funnily enough, I also got one on my left index finger. It got pretty sore to the touch but went away after a week or so.

Had a practice round yesterday.

my takeaway from it was, after the practice round I entered a "horse race". there were 20 teams of 2 golfers most of my peers from the area, and most flat belly bombers, and good golfers. Anyway, in a horse race all the players mingle around while you hit your shot so you have an "audience" so to say. It was an alternate shot and we decided that I would tee off on the 1st. hole.

I watched as player after player nervously hit their shots, left, right, skied, skulled, you name it, it was crazy how the nerves got to all the players. I guess it made me feel comfortable as out of all the 20 teams and with a little adrenalin, I absolutely smoked one down the middle, one of two on the fairway and 2nd. longest, I wish I had a picture of my smile as I walked toward my partner.

We ended up outside the prizes but made it to the second final hole and lost in a chip off... but fun to compete under those conditions...

I hit the ball better due mainly to ball position, I moved it up in my stance a bit, and made sure I shifted my weight over the ball, and putted well, hopefully take that into the tournament today...

Had a decent round yesterday 40/42 with 2 birdies and only one double. The double was a courtesy of a gust of wind that took the ball from the middle of the green flight 15 yards right where it bounced into a greenside pond. The wind also cost me three strokes on the green.  I saw three putts heading for the hole suddenly change direction because of a gust of wind.  There were a couple of places where the game felt it could go south on me and I just geared down to keep it on track. First time in a long time I have been able to make that gear down work for the rest of the round. Usually I can make that work but it takes a few holes to get it on track. Yesterday I pulled the game back on track after two bad shots, and that was very cool.

Today could have been really special if some outta dropped.

1 - horseshoed an 8 footer for birdie

2 - drained an 8 footer for birdie

3 - lipped out a 6 footer for birdie

4 - lipped out a 10 footer for birdie

5 - dead yanked a 4 footer for birdie on a putt that broke left to right about a foot. Worst putt I have hit in 2 years

6 - made a 12 footer for par

7 - lipped out a bunker shot for birdie

8 - made a 6 footer for birdie

9 - nice scrambling par.

10 - gimme birdie

11 - lipped out an 8 footer for birdie

12 - made a 12 footer for birdie

13 - another horseshoe from 7 feet for bird

14 - tap in bird on a par 3

15 - made an 8 footer for bird

16 - made a 20 footer for birdie

17 - tap in birdie

18 - scrambling par

ended up shooting 65 on the day and can’t remember the last time I had that many birdie looks in one round. Game actually felt solid today and just played my game for a change. I will say that since I took the Arccos sensors off my clubs I am playing much more solid and not worrying about the data. Back to playing the way I know I can play which is a lot more creative and with feel. Hell I even hit some solid full swing wedges today for a change.

Golf is a funny game…seemed so easy last weekend, was a struggle today!

Shot an 88…34 putts, 4 fairways and 6 greens.  Hit some really good shots and some quite terrible shots.  Just didn’t have the control today.

Warmup on the range was good, and saw none of those ball flights on the course…quite frustrating.

Missed so many putts inside 10 feet.

One of the things I have judiciously avoided over the years is too much data.  I am not sure that it makes the difference for most of us that people think.  I have enough trouble thinking about all the variables that go into each shot without out worrying about the fact that for this distance I have a 20% chance of hitting the green.  I don't watch my swing...I know when it feels right, I can usually fix it pretty quick (not always).  I have tried over the past year, or so, to simplify my approach:  one-length clubs, stiff shafted hybrids, one driver (all the others have been sold), down to two putters (no more switching all the time), etc.  I am more confident now than I have been in awhile.

Best wishes brother, my thumb looked exactly like that last year, had to get it lanced and let the infection drain.  Sorry for the graphics, but as soon as the nurse did it, was feeling much better and had no issues the following days.  The nurse said she thought something got on the side of my nail bed which caused it.  Not a bad round at all dealing with digit issues.

6/22/2024 - Shot 76 today.  Started Birdie, Par (was 1" from making 8' birdie putt), so I thought today was the day to finally break into the 60's.  Lost one ball to the water being too aggressive on a back 9 par 3.  The pin was 2 paces on the front, and it drops off into the pond quickly.  Landed dry and rolled back in.   On the bright side, I can feel the work I've been putting in with the stack system, and putting practice paying off.  I'm about 5-10 yards longer and my putting has improved greatly.  Made 3 today outside of 12' which helps.  I may try to post some shot scope stats later.
