Popular Post RollingGreens
Got out today to play a few holes. Met another member in the range and he asked me if I wanted to play. Unfortunately I was only able to 6 holes before I had to leave. My driver was a bit better today and I really struck my irons well. Only missed 2 shots with my irons where I had to align my body to the right. Still having difficulty as I missed both shots to the right of my target, but it beats the bail out to the right that I was previously doing. Hit some big putts and was only +3 through 6. The fairways were wet so not a lot of roll in the drives which made the course play longer cksurfdude, MattF, Kenny B and 9 others 12 Quote Stealth 2 Plus 9deg Kai' li Red Stealth 2 13deg Aldilla Rogue Silver Stealth 2 15deg Aldilla Rogue Silver JPX 921 Hot Metal 4-PW Nippon Modus 120s SM8 54 and 58deg Dynamic Gold Wedge Flex Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Titleist ProV1 Hoofer Stand Bag Stewart Q Follow Electric Caddie 300 PRO Rangefinder Official Nippon Regio B+ Driver Shaft Review Official Stewart Q Follow Review
Popular Post CarlH
Our weekly MGA game was a shamble today--4 man team playing 2 best net ball. I wasn't hitting the ball too cleanly nor was I putting my best. Couldn't buy a birdie, although I did have several opportunities. I came in with an unofficial 79 (not for posting since it wasn't always my drive being used). Sadly, I wasn't the only one on the team not playing at their optimum. We came in about the middle of the pack. The group in front of us was painfully slow. We started on a par 3 (shotgun start) and by the time we got to the next tee box, they were still hitting their second shot...we waited on them all day. 4 1/2 hour round (which may not sound that bad to some of you, but it's very slow for a private course). Other groups were heading in and we still had 2 holes to play. Popular Post JerryB
Owen and I played the back nine at River Heights today. Today was a bit of a struggle. Owen couldn't make clean contact and stopped keeping score halfway. I started out promising but was very inconsistent. Had a couple pars on the second and third holes and would have finally parred 14 were it not for the water ball off the tee. Putting wasn't too bad other than an absolute adventure on 15 where I kinda five-putted but the first two were off the green. Overall I shot 48 (+12). Not too bad all things considered. edingc, Vegan_Golfer_PNW, MattF and 9 others 12 Quote Cobra Aerojet Max driver Cobra Aerojet Max 3 wood and 7 wood Cobra Aerojet 4/5/6 hybrids Cobra Aerojet 7-PW, GW Cobra Snakebite 52° and 58° wedges Cobra King Stingray 20 putter

Hang in there, been through that low more than a few times this year. Makes the high points feel that much better when you hit them. On another note I hit a high today. It was just a little par 3 9 hole, but after birdieing the 7th I was 4 under par. Bogeyed the last two mostly out of greed... tried to hole out a chip for another birdie and left myself a nasty 6 footer. Tried to hole out a 30 footer over a tier slope and left myself 7' with a lot of slope coming back. Still, I have to say that it's nice to be able to go 2 over for the last two holes and still end up at -2 for the day. -2 is far an away the best score I've ever had over 9 holes, even if they were all 150 yards or less. Gotta commit the feel to memory because today felt like I was barely swinging the club even though I know from my distances that I was generating good clubhead speed. Felt like my body was perfectly in sync through the swing. CarlH
3 birdies on the back 9 saved an otherwise mediocre day of ball striking. 42 on the front and 37 on the back for a 79. My shot of the round was an 80 yard bump and run with a 7 iron to keep it low under an overhanging branch. It rolled out nicely and came to rest about a foot from the pin to save par. My glory was short lived, however, when a team mate holed out his wedge from the fairway from 75 yards for birdie. Popular Post sirchunksalot
Played nine today after work to get in some more testing with the Stewart Q Follow. It wasn't the best day scoring, but I had a blast getting out and chasing that little ball around the course. I paired up with a couple of guys, Robert and Mike, and really enjoyed their company. They made shooting 58 feel like 40. My driver was erratic today and the wedges decided to be uncooperative, but my approach game was really good. I feel like my game is coming along nicely when I can perform the moves I've been focusing on. I am trying to eliminate sway by feeling like I need to twist in the backswing instead of turn. When I pulled it off, oh man it was so good! The last two rounds I've also discovered a quieter mind over the ball and that makes the game so much more enjoyable. My game has been a struggle the last year, but I feel there's potential there to play better golf. It was just one of those days I felt like I played better than the scorecard showed. ejgaudette, Syks7, Tom the Golf Nut and 8 others 10

GaryF
Past 3 weeks have been dealing with post-Covid or long Covid issues. Had Covid mid July , and long covid symptoms often start 6-8 weeks later. Have had 3 occurances affecting my eyes. Think the most severe dry eyes you can imagine x10 with swelling. Each time has lasted 4-5 days each, with 2 good days between. Have tried to maintain the swing at the range when possible to fix a swing habit I fall into. Anyways, had a great 2 hr practice Wednesday as I was starting to feel better, then played a tough 9 today. Shot 45. Drives were excellent, hitting all 7 fairways with good distance. Putting wasn’t good - three 3 puts, but overall felt pretty satisfied. Popular Post Kenny B
Beautiful day today!! Got to the golf course at 7:45 for an 8:45 tee time with another couple; hadn't played with them before... but he drives a Boss 429 Mustang, so there's that! My driver is still not behaving very well; nothing horrendous, but only a few drives that really felt good. However, my short game was on fire!! I didn't have any birdies and only hit 7 GIR, but shot my age... again... 75. Two bogeys on the front; one on the back; no 3-putts. I even had one sand save from a bunker that I could barely see the top of the flagstick. I don't think I made any putts longer than 3 feet... most of my chips were closer than that. Popular Post GolfSpy TCB
Day 1 of our Club Championship... Course was TRICKED OUT... tees playing well back of normal, pins in impossible spots, rough seemingly grew 3 inches overnight, haha. It was a beautiful day on the course though. I didn't have my "A" game, especially with my irons... so I was scrambling all day. Putter was working well - I think I had 8 up and downs... but still gave away more strokes than I should have to my handicap. Evidently everyone else found the course playing in equally tough condition, and I'm positioned to have a chance if I shoot well today :). I am staying with my mantra... "Hit the Fairway, Hit the Green, Make the Putt". Keeps me in the moment and not thinking about the last poor shot or getting ahead of myself. Shot 82 (net 77) including a triple and two doubles - so I played the other 15 holes at +3... ejgaudette, sirchunksalot, Vegan_Golfer_PNW and 9 others 12 Quote Titleist TSR3 9* (A2 setting) Driver - Graphite Design Tour AD UB-5 R1 Titleist TSR2+ 3 Wood - Graphite Design Tour AD UB-5 R1 Srixon ZX 5W Callaway Paradym 4-PW Titleist Vokey SM9 50-08, 54-10 & 58-08 Scotty Cameron Super Select Newport 2.5 2023 Titleist ProV1
Popular Post edingc
Sloppy 42 on the front yesterday, and that was with a warm up playing the first few holes of the back nine while I waited to slip in between an outing. Lots of pretty bad shots and just generally couldn't get into the round. 36/43 -> 79 this morning. After a flukey double to start the round (lost ball in the rough...) I put together three birdies on the front and made the turn at even par. I was only +2 through 14 when I ran into the back of a 9 AM outing that shotgun started on 15. After playing 14 holes in 1:45 it took me another hour to play the final four. I won't lie - my mind started to wander knowing I had chores to get done at home and I went bogey, bogey, triple (lost ball), par to close out the round. Driver was good for most of the day until it wasn't on 17... but I did record two drives of 298 and 299 yards, plus a couple others in the 280+ range. I have had such an amazing turnaround with the driver the past few weeks. Otherwise I hit my irons OK, chipped/pitched extremely well, and putted just OK. Popular Post Kenny B
We played with two young guys today... Oregon Ducks. They hit the ball well and far but got a little loose with their shots on the back nine. I was one shot worse than yesterday... 76, but shot even par on the back nine. The difference being a double on the par 4 #3 and a birdie on the risk/reward par 4 #14. I was hitting my driver much better today, so I took on the sand and water; came up short and right of the green on a grassy mound. I executed a 50-foot bump and run perfectly for a tap-in birdie. My problem today was I couldn't for the life of me get any putt longer than 10 feet to the hole; so slow today. Oh well, the course is closing at 2pm today until noon on Tuesday for aeration. Hope they sand better than they did last time!! Well, Day 2 wasn't my best day on the course. Ended T-3 in my flight, but definitely had an opportunity to compete for the 1st spot if I would have played well. I'm not sure if anyone else does this.. but I recognize it in my game... I am swinging well, and hitting solid and consistent shots... so I try to find a key "thought" that will help me stay "in that swing"... So I repeat it in my head over and over, while hitting practice shots, and then take it to the course... when that Key Thought morphs into something that takes the natural fluidity out of my swing and turns it into a more mechanical and position oriented situation... which is the start of the downward spiral. For the past few weeks that thought has been "Shoulder Turn". On the first tee, that became a disjointed backswing that brought the club way too far inside and around, which resulted in an over the top move to correct. Interestingly enough... and one of my greatest frustrations... is going to my practice mat post round and within 3 swings... working out the issue.... this happened yet again, last night Oh Well, tody I start gearing up for 2023 Club Championship edingc, JerryB, Vegan_Golfer_PNW and 10 others 13 Quote Titleist TSR3 9* (A2 setting) Driver - Graphite Design Tour AD UB-5 R1 Titleist TSR2+ 3 Wood - Graphite Design Tour AD UB-5 R1 Srixon ZX 5W Callaway Paradym 4-PW Titleist Vokey SM9 50-08, 54-10 & 58-08 Scotty Cameron Super Select Newport 2.5 2023 Titleist ProV1

Interestingly enough... and one of my greatest frustrations... is going to my practice mat post round and within 3 swings... working out the issue.... this happened yet again, last night Oh Well, tody I start gearing up for 2023 Club Championship Sad... although it's nice to know that you can compete if you bring your usual game. Get 'em next time!! BTW, love your new avatar on the tee at #17. tony@CIC, GolfSpy TCB, cksurfdude and 1 other 4 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Range was closed because of 'staffing issues' - no one was purportedly around to pick up range balls, yet we had 4 employees in the Pro Shop watching the football game . Wife and I proceed to #1 and we're both playing well til we get to #5. Then we spot this scene on the green! Yup - a "6some" Whose bright idea was that? and BTW they're putting out all of their balls. The tee box for #6 is directly adjacent to the green on #5 - the guys know the 2 of us are waiting for them and they didn't let us play through. WTH! I played several courses back in the 90's out in LA that allowed 5 someones. However, they had rangers and you had to keep up with the group in front or you had to pick up and move to the next hole the 1st time if you got more than a hole behind and the 2nd time you were asked to leave the course. That said, anytime I have been behind a 5some elsewhere it is usually either groups that paired themselves up after teeing off with no rangers or worse, some pros that took forever to play. Nothing worse than pro's from another course playing with the course pro's and having that competitive egos slow things to a crawl. Popular Post Sluggo42
A 6 some- rediculous! anyways, a good day for the slugger today with a -1 35/35. wedges were good and putter too with 27 putts. Started out with a 15 foot right to left birdie putt on first hole… then the wedges gave me 3 more birds… I need to quit with the bogie after the birdie thing tho JerryB, Vegan_Golfer_PNW, Kenny B and 11 others 14 Quote TSr2 on tensi blue stiff Speedzone 3-wood on Tensi blue S Epic Max 5 and 7 woods on HZRDUS Reg flex Paradym 9 wood on HZRDUS reg flex P770 / P790 combo set on Ventus R-6 shafts 6-AW T22 Denim Copper 54°, 58° on Kinetic X Trajectory ER3 or, E.A.S. #4 (“Fang” or “Adele”) ProV1x, or, Maxfli Tour X .Org 14 cart bag Adidas Tour 360 , or Sketcher shoes
Popular Post Siamese Moose
I played right to my average in my league last night (despite an awful night on and around the greens), but I'm still steaming over an incident on the first hole. The league is two man teams, but each partner is playing an individual match. Tradition in the league is that either partner can concede a putt, but apparently that isn't absolute. I hit a lag putt a couple feet past the hole. I would have tapped it in for a half, but I would have been standing on the line of my opponent's partner. The partner said "That's good," and I whacked it away. My opponent objected, "I didn't give you that putt!""Your partner did." "It's my call, not his! You're lying five." Seriously? I took two more putts from 20 feet for a four putt, and obviously lost the hole.On the next hole I make birdie, and he gets upset when I don't concede his seven footer for double. On the last we both have relatively short par putts, though I'm slightly away. He asks, "Good, good?" He was already reaching for his marker when I said, "No. You get a stroke on this hole." I expected him to make the putt, and he did, but he was visibly annoyed. I wasn't conceding the putt, which was conceding the hole, which was conceding the match.
