It was fun because I had a lot of interaction with nature. A spotted turtle on the 10th fairway. Which turned out to be an endangered species. When I looked it up they asked that I report where it was seen. Then on the 12th fairway a box turtle. And a run in with a decent size black snake on the 14th tee box. lots going on for sure, good round as well Tom the Golf Nut, sirchunksalot, THE GOLF GUY and 3 others 6 Quote committed to performance excellence

An example of this is on a Par 5 when I pushed a drive right into the trees. Problem was there were low lying branches that would definitely knock my ball into the hazard so I planned a fade (not that I can shape shots on command but every once in a while I can pull it off). Popular Post David Leighton Reid
I played 18 holes yesterday with my normal Saturday morning group. I had the best iron striking day that I have had in a long time, which led to 3 birdies. However, my putter decided to take a day off and I had 3 three jacks. I shot 78 with the 3 birdies, 8 pars, 5 bogeys, and 2 of the dreaded doubles. jbern, MattF, Jacob10 and 7 others 10 Quote Ping G430 Max 10k 9° w/UST MP5 L-Flex Ping G425 3 wood 14.5° w/Ventus Velocore Blue-6R tipped 1" Cleveland Halo Launcher 5 wood 18° with Project X Cypher R Callaway Rogue 19° hybrid regular PXG Gen 3 0311XF 5 - G steel regular Corey Paul wedges bent to 53° and 58° Scotty Cameron Phantom X 11.5 putter

Popular Post NotScratchYet
+5 throughout 15 holes today (Rained out, and a touch of thunder). Putting is the biggest issue. right now. Cannot seem to get a feel, which is costing me many shots per round. Putting example (SG compared to Scratch = my target): Driving felt pretty decent but had a couple of errant ones today (not the norm). Distance was a bit lacking, it could be humid/moisture in the air today. I did hit a bomb on a par 5 of 330! One errant one went 158 yards (remind me to bring my chainsaw next time). Irons were a little off, so most of my shots were more on the cautious side of things. This did not help my putting. The only birdie of the day came from a nice GW from 125 out to about 2 feet. Even though I finished at 5 over, once I get a handle on my putting issues I think I am close to posting a sub 70 round. Fingers crossed for the next outing. Popular Post Peaksy68
Last round of pennant (interclub matchplay) Belfor the final. My team needed at least a half to get through, but were playing the top team who were undefeated through the other rounds. Played at Anglesea GC, famous for the kangaroos that live on the course and renowned locally as one of the steepest courses around. I had seen some of the course before, but had never played it. Started solidly and managed to capatalise on some mistakes by my opponent. Some very good short game play didn’t hurt either. 2 up after 7 before some very solid golf by my opponent saw us go through the turn tied. He started the back 9 with a birdie and we both played solid golf for the next few holes. A very rough green may have hurt me on the 15th where a 3 putt cost me a chance to win the hole. My first putt spent more time in the air than rolling and finished well short. My longish second putt lipped out. My opponent then chipped in for birdie leaving me with an extremely difficult chip from the rough to get a half. Played it almost perfectly but finished 6 inches from the hole. Played another great chip on the 17 but missed the 5 foot putt that broke about 15inches after allowing a touch more. Lost 2 and 1 to a very solid player. Considering he plays off 2 and I’m off 7 I was pretty happy to push him as far a I did. Unfortunately the team lost and we missed the final on matches one throughout the season. Very pleased with my short game and putting. Now it’s back to playing normal golf. I love matchplay, and really look forward to pennant season. Hopefully next year no health problems and I can play more matches. Popular Post MaxEntropy
@MattF, @DiscipleofPenick, @Mr_Theoo and I met at Deer Ridge Golf Course about halfway between Cleveland and Columbus. In my opinion, this is a hidden gem that I had never heard of until we started talking about playing there. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere. The elevation changes are really dramatic, making club selection tricky, even with Arccos giving us a "plays like" distance. There are a couple "gimicky" holes on the front, but in general, I really liked the course. The visuals were very deceptive, but I assume that had a lot to do with the number of uphill, downhill, and blind shots. The greens were also pretty tricky, so there were plenty of 3-putts from us. Below is a picture from the 8th tee - Arccos said it was ~150 feet down to the fairway. The pic doesn't really do it justice. As far as the play, I started out really well with 3 straight pars (including the #1 handicap hole), then settled into what was more typical golf for me. Driver was not great most of the day - I think I was getting too steep and there were too many flares. Approach was its typical level of OK-ness with some really good shots and some tragic. I ended up with an 87 (my course HC from the tees we played was a 12). I want to play the course again - now that we've seen it and have a better idea of the visual tricks, I think we could do better, or at least would be able to pick better targets. Popular Post MrBandit
Played a tournament yesterday (of course there was a down pour the night before 2in of rain) surprisingly one of the course was still playable (soaked but playable) the other back 9 was still under water. I have to say that my game for the first time in a long time, I had all 4 parts of my game working at the same time. (Driving, Irons, Chipping, Putting) usually the later 2 are always consistent but the Irons are hit or miss at times. Solid front 9, even with a lazy bogey on the 9th hole, and then I lost the rhythm a bit on the back 9, really unnecessary bogey on 10th. Completely had a brain fart on 12th, I tried to hit the perfect shot, instead of just hitting the shot and let it land on the green, (3 shots later) a really dumb Triple. But battle the back, I was getting tired ( a lot of walking in wet grounds wears you out.) But I hit all the fairways but 2 and reach all of the Par 5 in regulation. Both FWR and GIR where a huge improvement. Strokes gain was an improvement. Popular Post bens197
Victor Hills East…it’s $22 to walk 18 and while it ins’t the best conditioned course it has a lot of tricky holes that aren’t the typical bombs away. I am feeling it after walking 3 hours but man it felt good. Shot 37 / 38 with some really good holes and some not so good. A lot of good work with the S159’s for the forum testing and had 3 tee balls with the infamous U505 that I’d been struggling with. @GolfSpy_SHARK will be pleased to hear that it was working quite well today. Also made some changes with my driver setup @chisag and the TSi3 is working well. I am setting the ball up off the heel rather than the toe and contact has been night and day better. I’m also at a D3 setting which surprising to me, has worked out in my favor. This was a bit of a process on the range last week and I needed a new approach…so far, so good. Highlight of the day was tee balls on the par 3’s. I hit every green and feel really dialed in with my irons right now. Feeling good. Hope you all are having as much fun. Popular Post GolfSpy_KFT
After an abysmal day of ball striking Saturday leading to my worst 9 hole score in nearly a calendar year, I decided to go to the range today for some practice over my lunch hour. I hit about 10 balls on the range and 9/10 were above average to great strikes, so I decided since I had the time and the course wasn't super busy, I'd take advantage of some on-course practice. Ended up getting through 7 holes and playing to +9. Off the tee was inconsistent, but irons striking was quite good. On both doubles, they were on back to back holes when I had caught a group of 4 in front of me and had to sit and wait. Each time I was walking off the green, they were just getting into their carts and pulling away from the tee box. Not sure why they wouldn't let me play through, but no big deal. Missed a couple par putts I should have made, but otherwise it was pretty solid. Highlight was a 7 iron into the wind to a back pin from the 150 yard marker. Went 167 to pin high and was flushed. Not sure when I'll get out again but hopefully Thursday or Friday. Popular Post Blufftongolfer
First day out with my new Wilson Dynapower Titanium Driver. A bit of an adjustment after playing the same driver for 14 years(Taylor Made R9!) but figured things out pretty quickly. I was playing a high draw with way too much spin with the old driver. The Wilson has a lowered trajectory, slightly , and is straighter. Gets much more roll out. Only missed 4 fairways en route to a 77. So pretty happy overall. May be making a slight adjustment tomorrow to get a bit more right to left. JCgolfer, Jacob10, GolfSpy_SHARK and 8 others 8 1

I have played it a lot, but it is a long drive from east Mesa. So today was my first day back after a 6 week layoff for surgery. I didn't play terrible. No score under 4. No score over 6. 3 doubles and five 3 putts. I hate three putts. Only had one real bad shot. Hooked my second shot right into the clubhouse parking lot on 18, nope didn't hit a parked vehicle. Dropped for #3, put #4 on the green and two putted for a 6. Depending on what the wife wants to do tomorrow I may go get in the afternoon round. Even on its worst day the U505 is a standout! (IMO) glad ya turned some stuff around hell of a round. Any chance ya can do a screen shot from your video on that hole for social media post? That’s a great shot with your bag right there in the video. Popular Post Big moose
Played my first league round today shot 41 with a double on a par 3. We play a points game and skins. You get 4 points for birdie, 3 for par 2 for bogey and 1 for a double. My quota was 17 and I got 22. Each point is worth money but you never know how much each point is worth until everyone is done playing, it could be 2 dollars to 5 dollars for each point I won't know until next week. I was already told by the league secretary my points for next week are 20. Play well everyone. Curtis Atkinson
Have been spending more time on the range recently than playing. Got out for 9 and went 46 with a 4-putt double on 9. Oof. Changing some things on setup and feel like I'm making more solid contact than ever before. Even the sound is different. Hoping to keep it going. 46 (+10) 3/7 FIR (42%) 2/9 GIR (22%) 19 putts (1 4-putt, 0 3-putts, 7 2-putts, 1 1-putt) cksurfdude, Rob Person, MattF and 4 others 6 1 Quote Driver: TSi2 9.0* w/ Tensei blue stiff shaft // 3 Wood: TSi3 15* Tensei white stiff shaft Hybrid: GAPR Hi 3h Irons: T300 4-PW + 48* & 53*w/ KBS tour stiff Wedge: CBX2 58*10 Putter: KS1 Ball: Srixon Z-star // Bag: DLX
cburins
Very happy to share this, I finished 15th out of 42 players in my first ever golf tournament! The putts were rolling in and my ball striking was really good. Had a few bad holes on the back nine that threw off the round, but I stayed composed and in the right mental state. 2 solid birdies and 5 great pars for the round. Only hit one ball OB that led to the triple on 12, but if I start to get rid of those bad holes I think I'd have a great chance at a top 5 finish or even winning! Next tourney is June 24th. Lots to work on, but I'm extremely happy with the outcome of my first ever tournament. chisag
... Some can only dream of hitting a 300 yd drive. And depending on where you live and play, it will remain a dream. At age 71 my days of hitting 300 yd drives are in my rearview mirror. But under the right circumstances? Hard fast desert fairways certainly produce a good amount of roll and up to 50yds on some holes. On #18 yesterday we had a nice 8-10mph wind dead at our backs. That should help right? Then about 275 yds out there was a nice elevation drop so wouldn't it be nice to reach that? ... All together it was a perfect storm and with a really good swing and center contact I watched my drive launch high and ride the wind, then approach the drop. Not quite reaching the edge it looked like a nice 270yd drive, but then the ball disappeared. 421 yd par 4 and when I laser'ed my approach I had 118 to a middle pin. For those math challenged that is 303 yds. My best guess is carry was around 240 so 63 yds of wind aided roll. But it still felt pretty cool to hit a drive without a 2XX as the starting number.
