Popular Post chisag
... In honor of Hideki Matsuyama winning the Masters, I played my Srixon Z Forged MB's today and shot a 72 with 3 birdies and 3 bogies. As many of you know I am a big fan of playing the most forgiving irons you can effectively play and for me, Z Forged ain't them. I would guess there were at least 3 or 4 shots that most likely made a difference in my score, but specifically 2 I can relate. There is a 477 yd par 5 dogleg left that is uphill off the tee and has a huge bunker guarding the corner that I cannot carry from my normal tees. But they are giving that tee box a rest and have the Silvers with the Golds reducing the hole to 444 so I can carry the bunker leaving me a 7 or 8 iron after some downhill roll over the bunker. I had a good yardage to a front pin over a deep bunker and hit my Z Forged just a little thin but right on line and caught the lip. I have no doubt at all that my King Tour 7 iron would carry that bunker. (I am gonna be so bummed when they put the Silvers back where they belong) ... I also let the wind bring my soft fade left to right to a back pin location that has a ledge in front of it and caught my Z Forged 6 iron just a little on the toe. I lost both direction and distance landing short of the ridge and rolling up just enough to send it back down the slope with some extra gusto. Again, no doubt whatsoever that the KIng Tours would have landed over the ridge. ... I did not miss the center by much, but enough to effect the shot with no perimeter weight help and both those shots cost me a minimum of one stroke. And for me, that is all the difference between shooting under par or even par. I love pulling out MB's a few times a year because they are very accurate when perfectly struck and just a lot of fun to play but mostly to remind me why I use Players Irons. I consider myself a very good ball striker but not an elite ball striker which is required to get the most out of MB's. These statements are made about my game specifically and not a recommendation against or for others that may enjoy playing MB's all the time. cksurfdude, Tom the Golf Nut, MattF and 10 others 13 Quote Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... benb1989
Played on Sunday and was awful, which is annoying as the Sunday before I played the best round I have played in a very long time. My all round game was poor and there wasnt just one thing that was going wrong. I hooked and sliced the driver, fatted and thinned irons, around the green I was ok, but I missed 3 or 4 stupid, easy putts. BUT I had some excellent holes, just too few of them. When I am at MGS they have some irons in the warmup bag and I pull them out occasionally. I can hit them well but not sure I would do well playing 18. Popular Post sirchunksalot
During my round Sunday, I got a chance to try out the GoPro I bought. I picked up a suction mount to attach it to the cart for its maiden voyage. I was planning on doing a rundown of every hole in the front, but the battery died in the sixth. I'm hoping to film some really bad course vlogs for my entertainment because it's just fun to film and edit. Here's a snippet from Sunday, the sound isn't the greatest because it was windy. NRJyzr
An update from my Men's Club round last weekend.... One side effect of joining this group is that I now have an official USGA hdcp. I've never had one for various reasons, but knowing how its calculated, I've kept it in a spreadsheet. I'm an accountant, and accounts know spreadsheets. So.... the scores from the weekend have been entered, and my index has been updated. I'm now a 6.1. How lovely. LOL FWIW, my self calculated number from last year was 7.x. Popular Post StrokerAce
Can't get over the +8 hump but for the first "official" round of the year that I can post under my GHIN I'll take it. A crapton of blind shots and a pretty narrow course; thankfully I was paired with 3 retirees who've played it for 30 years! Also - first round with my free Arccos membership (for a limited time) and I'm really liking it. I use a 5 inch iphone8 and leave it in my left front pocket and it worked fantastic. (ignore the first putt distance LOL... I haven't got around to marking the pin w/the phone yet) Best shot of the day was the one below; the 21 yard pitch over a mound onto a green that sloped away from me and I had a 2 foot circle I could have landed it in. Dribbled it up to 3 feet. Funny how those touch shots end up being your favorite vs the big drives, etc. bens197, cksurfdude, Shapotomous and 8 others 11 Quote Driver- Cobra Aerojet LS Woods- Cobra LTD 3w 15*, 5W 19*, F9 24* Irons- XXIO X (6-A) Wedges- Callaway Jaws Raw (54/58) Putter- Bettinardi BB56 Ball- Maxfli Tour X Buggy- Motocaddy M7 GPS Remote Electric Caddy Bag- Motocaddy Dry-Series Proudly testing for 2024:

I picked up a suction mount to attach it to the cart for its maiden voyage. I was planning on doing a rundown of every hole in the front, but the battery died in the sixth. I'm hoping to film some really bad course vlogs for my entertainment because it's just fun to film and edit. Here's a snippet from Sunday, the sound isn't the greatest because it was windy. Love my GoPro! Excited to get it out on the course again. The video shows off the image stabilization. That's what has been so impressive so far is how stable it is. First day I got it, I walked outside and just looked around as I was walking. When I watched the video later, it was so smooth. I want to attach it to my car, but am just a little too paranoid about that. cksurfdude, MattF, Kenny B and 5 others
Popular Post CarlH
A little bit of the old me showed up for today's round. 39/40. Fairly consistent, although my driver did put in in at least 4 situations where I had to punch out to the fairway. I did have one double bogey when I 3 putted a tricky green. Putting was not really that sharp today. Could have been a better score, but I'll take the 79 given what I've been shooting lately! Popular Post Kenny B
Played the Wolf game today at the other course in town. I don't play there much, but I get to play for free with this group of guys. Well, free if I don't lose a bunch of quarters!! Last week they played at my course and I shot 74 and took their quarters! They wanted revenge, so we played at their course today. A sunny 75º day with about 10-15 mph wind from the opposite direction from normal. I drove the ball well; chipping and putting were OK except for one hole; in front of the green in two shots on the par 4 #16 and ended up with a double; my only one of the day. I did have two birdies; almost got to the par 5 #3 in two shots... chip and a putt. The other was on the par 4 #15; pin high on a green that slopes severely back to front; 12 footer left to right breaking about 3 feet. Shot 80... 40/40. A nice round for men on that course, but lost 2 quarters.
