I almost broke 80, It was also an unusual birdie free round (I typically get one birdie every 9-12 holes).

Tale of 2 9 hole rounds, over a couple of days due to poor weather and Mother's Day here.

Played the front 9 earlier in the week, after a rainy day and course was very wet and soggy. Had a 40 with a few missed greens due to soggy conditions.

Played the back 9 earlier today before having to attend to Mother's Day festivities, and although it rained most of the day yesterday, the back 9 is on higher level ground and not as susceptible to standing water or it drains much better. Had a 38 today, with many more GIR than the front 9.

I’ve not been able to get it together for the last several weeks. Lots of high 80’s and low 90’s. A couple of weeks ago, I did shoot 75 as a 5 handicap in a tournament and was surprised that my handicap went up. I mean it deserved to, but that was a great score. When I asked the proshop why they didn’t post my score, they said they didn’t post anyone’s because the conditions (rain and 34 mph wind). 

Well, I got it together again yesterday, and all week in practice. This is good because @William P and I are playing another tournament this weekend. Except I’m playing longer tees. 

We have a practice round Tuesday and I’m very excited about this.

I had such a good round this week! It was the round I compared both the Haywood and Srixon irons too! More of that will be discussed in my final review post. 

I've been having some issues in my practices getting an idea of what my ball striking is. I felt like my swing was so erratic and just did not feel natural to me. To fix this, I started on Monday not doing any practice swings with "stops" in them. I would step back from the ball, close my eyes, and swing. I was doing this a lot, really, just to find my feel for the swing again. Doing so left me with one of my best rounds yet!

I could not play the 18 I had played two weeks prior as they were aerating the greens yesterday. Super bummed by this because I can't get my putting on, but it was on yesterday, even without the aeration on the greens!

Favorite shots. First, you can see in the image below that I almost holed out. This hole is hard because you can't see the green from the tee box so I had no idea how good this shot was, but I was shocked when I pulled around the corner and saw my ball a foot away. Second, on hole six with the Haywoods, I flushed a solid 6 iron from 215 from the right rough, letting the wind (going from right to left) carry the ball to the green. I then holed the putt from 6 feet. It felt downright incredible!

It's super fun round, and I can't wait to get back out there again. 

Longest Drive - Hole 9: I hit my drive 367 (back again, boys!!) with an 8-iron for 180 yards to the green, which I unfortunately chunked into the reeds. I saved the bogey, I guess, but I got the long drive!
