Took advantage of Callaway Pre-Owned's sale and picked up another Apex UW to replace my 3 wood. They have a new version coming out in a couple weeks but I couldn't pass on the awesome price for something that I know works well. I've been watching for over a week for them to add one in Very Good condition and it hit this morning.

Just bought set of Titleist T200 irons with AMT Black S300 shafts. 
Was considering the Project X LS shafts @Ben Joest had in his new irons.  After trying out several shafts including the LS, LZ & the AMT shafts, settled on the AMT Black.

Set is 5i through Gap Wedge. Really nice looking clubs.  Needed to replace Precept Forged Premium Irons. Amazing how much difference lofts are today compared to 2009. There was as much as a 5 degree weaker difference in the Precept compared to the T200 irons. 

I like the "classic" look of the T200, with a bit of forgiveness & more of a distance iron. I'm impressed with the feel  of the club already, only have 1 round with them. Feels the same as when testing the irons. 

Titleist makes a good iron. I had the 714 irons and loved them. 

Reading comments about regripping.  I started doing regripping myself, a couple of years ago. Don't have any equipment, other than a utility knife. Fun to build the grip the way you like it. Now changing out the standard grips which came with the T200 irons, to Midsize Golfpride CP2 Pro & CP2 Pro Wraps. 

See how the irons feel with the new grips and built up a bit in the lower part of the grip for right hand.

Up until then it was a dead heat but Roger double clutched speed shifted into 3rd and slowly left Scotty in the rearview mirror. There is no way anyone can say I was bias that a Cleveland was better than a Scotty Cameron , They had a MINT demo in the Phantom 12 and upgrade for the All In shaft made the Cleveland cost a little more so I wasn't price bias. They were still dead even to me in a perfectly rolled ball but get a little off center and the Cleveland with all in shaft just seemed to have more forgiveness built in.

TaylorMade Burner LCG iron set R flex 3-Sand wedge = 10 irons with original bubble graphite shafts and and original TM grips that are still tacky and uncracked . TaylorMade Burner 10.5 Driver and 5 wood  with R 80 bubble shaft and original bubble grips in VG shape. Callaway Great Big Bertha War Bird driver 10 degree R 90 Callaway shaft Original Callaway grip but dry rotted. Titleist Dead Center putter TS-252 finish is worn off but appears to have almost no dings or dents at all, will refinish easily, grip is dry rotted leather. All of the above was all tied together for 1 price at an estate sale and a LOT of people were not happy I beat them to it lol. Also stopped at a thrift store and bout a couple of " project clubs " 1 I bough juet because it was the biggest name brand sand wedge I had ever seen, its a King Cobra II Senior Oversize and the head will nealy cover the palm of my head will nearly cover the palm of my hand lol, its in great shape and original but I have no idea what I am going to do with it wifes answer was you have spent more money on worse.

Picked the Epic Max LS from the Callaway used eBay store. Only paid $164.99 for it when other used retailers had it for over $200. Highly recommend buying through eBay. The condition was listed as good but I'd argue it was excellent. Probably played 5 rounds with it so far and am very happy with the purchase. Just not crazy about the generic headcover they provide so looking forward to getting a new one eventually.

Of course everyone will have their own preferences, and I love my EvenRoll, but ... was looking recently at one of the Cleveland putters with that All-In shaft .. hmmm.....

3 wood has re-entered the chat.   

Been searching for a club that I can hit consistently for over 210 yards.   The Tour edge 2&3 hybrids are great but they might as well be the same club.  The gapping between them just isn't quite what I'm looking for.  I can step on the 3 hybrid and get the same distance I can out of the 2 which I cannot step on without negative results.  Was searching for a used 5 wood to test out and stumbled across an 0211 3 wood head on a really cut down evenflow shaft.  +2".  I love the driver head and immediately got along with the 3 wood head.   On the sim it looks like it will suit my purposes.  But, I had this old non-velocore ventus shaft sitting around so I decided to throw a pxg tip on it and cut it down to standard 3-wood length.  Should be interesting.

I just picked up a set up cobra forged one length irons 4-PW.  Sold my Mizunos. Also pulled the trigger on a LAB DF2.1.

I have been debating on switching out the driver so set up a fitting with PXG later this week.

 

Being a lefty and cheap has it's challenges.

Picked up a Tensei AV Blue shaft to replace the broken Ventus for my Rogue. I think I ended up salvaging the Ventus shaft by trimming off some of the tip. I know it’s going to be a little stiffer, but I may still throw a Cally adapter on it and see how it feels.

... Awesome shaft if it fits your swing. Every fitting I have done, the Tensei Blue is in the running. I see so many on the LPGA tour and used by some of the longer hitters. I am playing the Ventus Red Velocore but I could switch to the Tensei Blue and be perfectly happy. Looking forward to hearing how it works for you!

The only bad thing about living in the boonies is that the nearest place to go test shafts and whatnot is nearly 2 hours from here. So, a lot of my shaft decisions come from reviews and are sometimes just trial and error... even though that isn't ideal. However, I do have one of the other Tensei Blue profiles in my hybrid and I really enjoy that, so fingers crossed!

I really think more of us need to look at the shafts that the women on the LPGA play.  I have had good luck with Tensei AV Blue shafts.  I also use it in my TS hybrid.  It’s like a laser.

Finally, after years of searching, I have found my new pair of golf shoes. Will likely go buy a few more pair so I'm set for a while because I've been wearing the same pair for over 7 years. I am a size 13/14 4E and if I don't have the heel BOA system, shoes that are wide enough in the toe area usually flop on my heel a bit and make golfing in them a pain. Happy to have found something comfortable that fits! My last shoe was the FootJoy D.N.A. and weirdly enough it fit me perfectly in a 12 4E. None of their other shoes in the past 7 years have fit the same until now with the HyperFlex! So pumped!

... Amen. Especially Steelfiber iron shafts as N Korda, Lydia Ko and A Jutanugarn all use them. J Y Ko set the record for 63 consecutive GIR beating Tigers record of 37. That is some kinda accuracy and she plays Steelfibers.

I’m going to try a little experiment.

I just ordered a Halo Launcher XL 5 iron with a KBS shaft (same as my irons). I played the Halos 5-DW for a while before switching to my E722’s. 

I hit my current 5 iron very well off a tee, but depending on the lie, I’m sometimes hesitant to hit it off the turf. I could easily get by with it, but I remember the Halo 5 iron working so well from any lie.

Because I’m so familiar with the club, I knew I’d have to get it 2* strong in order to gap properly between my G425 4H and my E722 6 iron.

 It only cost me $103 including a $14 upgrade shaft for a club that I know will give me exactly what I want for way less than the cost of a standard 5H.

Continuing my unofficial quest to try a ridiculous number of newer/smaller golf brands...bit hard on some Bite Hard gear. Transfusion print polo, straight black, and a Masters-themed hoodie. Polos feel and look comparable to some more expensive brands, so we'll see how they hold up. The flatbrim isn't really my style, but it kinda plays on an inside joke within our group, so grabbed it anyway:

 

And, as if I needed another pair of golf shoes... Decided to try out Olukai. Love the look and feel. Stability and traction TBD. Remind me a lot of True Linkswear, at least based on look/feel, but they have this super cool feature where you can fold down the heel to make them easy slip-on/clog style (slight sarcasm there -- doubt that I'll ever use them that way. Maybe if they were casual shoes rather than golf...). Had to return the first pair and size up, despite multiple features on their website saying I should get the 12 (US12 = EU45 for them, but that wasn't specified -- I normally find EU sizing to be more reliable, and I'm a 46-46.5).

After a big year of updating my bag, the only purchase this season has been a U505 2 iron that I received last week.  I went in with the intention to buy an iCrossover and after comparing side by side, there was no doubt that the Titleist was the better option.  Soft high cuts that fill my gap nicely between my 4 iron and 3 wood.
