Currently have a Cally GBB 3w in the bag and I'm wondering if a newer, slightly deeper faced 3w might give me a little bit better performance/forgiveness off the tee. I prefer adjustable, something I could loft up to around 16* or so.

Cobras intrigue me for the rails on the bottom of the sole which could be helpful if I wanted to get adventurous off the turf, but really I'd be looking for something almost exclusively off the tee. My Heavenwood pretty much handles long turf shots anyways.

you can thank me later....

Just ordered one of these. Going to put it on my LAB DF 2.1. Will allow me to grip down on my putter and lock the grip to my left wrist. Its not as drastic as arm lock and I don't think i will require any adjustments to my existing putter. My 33" putter is currently too long for me and I already grip down a lot, and i like the wrist lock concept, so i think it will work well.

To make it work well, you do need to forward press. That is perfect for the DF 2.1, because it also requires forward press to work correctly. Normally the DF 2.1 has forward press built in to the stock grip, so i will need to make sure to setup with a forward press with this Superstroke grip, which i like to do anyway.

I tested trying to wrist lock with the stock grip on my DF 2.1, and it actually works well, so i think this Superstroke should be an improvement because of the contour.

... It is a great time to be in the market for irons. Unless you just bought new irons and the shiny new ones like these Srixon's, that look spectacular, are making you jealous. For most of us that have new irons in the last 2-3 years, there is probably nothing out there that will effect our scores or even our individual shots. Increasing our enjoyment is a completely different subject!  🤪

Thinking about an inexpensive mallet putter to mess around with over the winter. All of my putters are blades and I'm curious to see if a mallet would help me improve my putting. I notice that my putter head will twist on me a few times per round and mess with my start line, wondering if a larger & heavier head would help quiet things down.

Wedges and irons are - 1/2” and one degree flat

Putter: Sacks Parente Duke 32.5”

Ball: Titleist Pro VI or Callaway Chrome Soft X ls

While not at the same time I was fit for every club in my bag as well as the Pro VI ball. I use the chrome soft x ls on my league course.  It has much softer softer greens than the club that I belong to.

I’m on a mission to shoot my age - lifetime lowest round is 66 and I’m currently 67.

It's been quite a while since I looked at golf equipment, something over which I once obsessed.

For decades.

I hated the last generation of gear that I window shopped, so I imagine that I'd like the newer stuff even less.

Have they gotten to the 1-iron lofted lob wedge yet?  Are the drivers over 600cc in head volume?

Louisville Golf makes some nice hickory shafted stuff, though.

If I were still physically able to play, I'd probably try that.

I'm sure that I'd really suck even as a healthy 74-year-old player, so the gear would be irrelevant.

I'd go with whatever looked pretty to me, probably the best thing to do when you're a geriatric.

Happy late fall playing, my old linkster friends!

Rockbottom and 2ndswing are never good enough deals for me. CPO can be good. It's all about the Quickshipgolf and Ksouth9 on ebay. Bought a full set of irons and then traded them in immediately for like 150% more lol. Bought them only for the purpose of trading in.

I'm close to switching out my 3 wood for a 3 hybrid.  I just do not use the 3 wood that often.  Mostly on Par 5's I can get to the green or very close with my 2 hybrid and feel like I have much more control.  Potentially down the road as I lose some distance, I will switch things back up, but I have a gap from around 215 - 230 and I think a 3 hybrid would fit perfectly there.

Likely would get a similar set up to my current 2 hybrid.  Titleist 818 H2 with Tensei Blue X stiff shaft.

Putters. Going through a little struggle with short putting so getting a new putter is always the first thought.

Actually working on my stroke and redoing a lot of the basic fundamental checks that my instructor went through. Also considering a mass putter sell off and finding a new putter to match my needs.

Rockbottom and 2ndswing are never good enough deals for me. CPO can be good. It's all about the Quickshipgolf and Ksouth9 on ebay. Bought a full set of irons and then traded them in immediately for like 150% more lol. Bought them only for the purpose of trading in.

I have to “Hunt” for good deals, LH equipment can be hard to find.

You got that right!  Sometimes it can be a benefit since there are less people shopping for lefty, but that is rare and usually it's lack of options.

Titleist 818 H2 with Tensei Blue X stiff shaft.

... That is what I did when I added the Super Hybrid to my bag. I find it a cross between a hybrid and fairway wood and the best of both worlds. A little longer shaft than a hybrid and a little shorter than a fw. I hit it between my 5 wood and 3 wood for distance so it is a nice compromise. When I get to Phoenix this winter it will be interesting too see if I keep it or go back to my 3 wood since the desert produces so much more roll.

I still bag a 3 wood even though I may go a round without using it largely for shot-shaping reasons.  If I absolutely have to have a draw, I trust I can hit one with a 3 wood a little easier than with driver.  Other than that I do find myself lamenting what sometimes feels like a wasted spot in the bag.
