Ignoring the number painted on the toe of the club and trusting the SmartDistance from Arccos. If you read back in the thread, I've blown it over at least one green because I just didn't trust the yardage. But Arccos has helped get over that pretty quickly.

 

If I had to pick something else, it's standing up taller over the ball because these clubs are standard lie, whereas my other ones were 2* flat.

 

 

 

I appreciate the support, but I thought MDGH was the cyborg with all the wires hanging out of his pockets. But I'm going to guess that he looks like he's on life support

 

I'm hoping to get one more round in tomorrow, 'cause that'll be all I get in by the end of the challenge.

 

I'll be going through withdrawal once this is over.

Best Round Submission

 

Course and slope  66/115

 

 

I had not got to play with my father in law much this summer, working swing shift, and them living on the other side of the mountains (yes REAL mountains). So SWMBO said go and play... She wanted a down weekend... SO let me tell you a story.

 

So up at 5:30 (after getting home at midnight) leave at 6:00am... 10:00 tee time... Get there in time for breakfast and off to the course... I needed a solid round, I play Highlander well, just this year. Normally we would have his best friend with us who is almost blind, but not last Sat.

Open with a bogey but hit both the fairway and the green in regulation. Ok no warm up a little tired, I'm good, lots of golf left. 2^nd hole fairway/ green bogey. Dammit not the way I wanted to start. 3^rd par GIR. Ok now I'm playing.. 4^th par 5 fairway/green bogey… SH!T.. 5^th real scoring opportunity par 5 that I have eagled before.. fairway 3wd to the side of the green Par. 6^th uphill par 4 fairway/ green to 3' birdie.. 2 over after 6.. 7^th par 3 GIR bogey.. Errr.. 8^th ready for a ride… 227 fairway 3wd 267 to the side of the green chip on and walk off par.. not what I was hoping but ok.. 9^th par 3 over a canyon, Double.. Nooo

Finish front 5 over ok nice round (afterwards I realize I went 6/6 fairways and 7/9 GIR)..  I always play the back better.. So I'm looking ok..

10^th par 4 288 drive on the rt edge of fairway crappy angle and stance LW to back of green Bogey.. ERRRR 11^th par 4 Fairway/ green bogey,  Errrr. 12 th par 3 over lake, short chip on an 2 putt Bogey, the wheels on this bus are coming off.. 13^th par 5 left side fairway/green 2 putt par.. on back on track.. 3 over but still playing ok.. 14 par 3 downhill another F-ing double bogey. 5 over through 5 on the back.. Oh well I'm having a great playing golf with FIL on a great course.. 15 big uphill par 4 fairway/green, par.

16 big downhill par 4 fairway/green par.. ok this could still be ok.. 17 short par 4 but danger everywhere, (see below) drive green birdie.. Sweet.. 18 par 3 green birdie… Damn, birdie birdie finish..

Played a 4 hybrid to the left side of the green, if it's mowed down you can play the hillside and it releases but due to high fire danger they have let it go, so i hit a great shot Pin high to the left side and 2 putted for Birdie, it's a par 4 and ranks as 6 hdcp.. I eagled it last year, tee's were up and the pin in front I hit a 5 iron to to 10 feet and drained.. if the wind is blowing you have to be spot on or its gone, even a tail wind blows the ball across the green and down off the back into the canyon.

I went out early and posted a good round, I am the clubhouse leader..  now go chase me down..  And i will graciously applaud your round.. but it will be hard to beat...

Amazing round ReeseDW. And honestly you seemed to be striking the ball perfectly just had some trouble. When you started the competition you were an 18.9 handicap or basically you typically shot 90 or a bogey golfer. Essentially a 78 is like shooting 10-12 under par for you. Congrats man!!!! The F8 clubs from Cobra have changed you golf game. Do you find the game overall to be more fun now?

What has been the one most significant change you've had to do to make these clubs work for you?

Absolutely nothing!

 

I was already playing Cobra F6 Fairways, Irons & Wedges. The only change was trying to get used to the 5 Hybrid as I previously had a 4 & 5 Iron.....still working on it.
