It's been s good race today with so many changing conditions... But the red flag with 7 laps left kinds sucked the life out of it and started doing house work instead.

Agreed, though was hoping this would give Alonso a chance to beat Max. Feels like the season is basically over and nothing to do until next year and hope that other teams can catch up to the car design for the future seasons....

Yeah for the first lap it looked like maybe Alonso could keep up... But that was short lived.

It sucks that it is over. However at this point I am very curious if Norris or someone can nab second overall. And in truth I'm actually curious if red bull could run the gauntlet and win every race this season.

IT feels like they can. I'm still not sure what Checco is so sub par in the same car as Max after doing so well at the top of the season. 

And my Haas boys just can't pull their asses together at all.

Max as we all I think know is in a league of his own. Perez at this point needs for hope for even more dominance in the car else he may be looking for a seat soon. 

What a bad penalty too to loose a podium... To Gasly too!

That red flag was a killer, i fell that if they let it race under the heavy rain, it could have gotten a lot more action in the end.

I wish they would have, but that yellow was going to end up with the race ending under SC.  No way they recovered Zhou and got racing going in 9 laps at Zandvoort in the rain.

That is very true, I rather see the race go on, but I get the FIA trying to be safe on this case.

The season is definitely over, nobody is catching Max or Red bull, only reason to watch now is to see how it plays out the rest of the way for 2-4.  Going to be a tight battle between Mercedes, Aston & Ferrari.

There was zero chance they would have ever considered letting that race go on.  There were like 3 or 4 cars that hydroplaned and/or went off at turn 1 and they are never going to risk another car sliding and hitting a disabled car which is exactly what would have happened.  The Jules Bianchi incident pretty much guarantees they won't let the drivers go around even under a full course yellow if there is a chance of hitting another car, equipment or marshals.

Pretty sure Sergio is going to have second locked up pretty soon. For as bad a stretch as he had, he seems to be back in form now and reliability doesn't seem like it is going to be an issue for Red bull.  For me, the battle to watch is who will take 3rd, could be Alonso or Hamilton if Mercedes keeps improving.  Seems like Sainz, Russell, Leclerc & Norris are going to battle it out for 5-8 the rest of the season.  My money is on Russell as I think he's actually raced very well this season but has had horrible luck and reliability.

 

 

The one thing that really drives me nuts is just seeing everyone bending over backwards for Max.  He dive bombed Gasly during the race and they didn't even investigate him for it.  I'm sick of seeing him late braking to come up on the inside of someone right at the apex and then not being able to make the corner and leave room for the other car.  It's basically, him going "I'm coming up on the inside of you and you're either going to brake and let me pass or we're going to collide".  He did it to Lewis countless times in 2021 and they supposedly clarified the rules that you had to leave room for the other car if you were going to do that.  

Then to follow that up, his own team screws Sergio just to make sure Max gets the win.  There is absolutely no chance that if the order had been reversed and Sergio was running second they would have pitted him and allowed him to undercut his teammate.  Never.  That whole story about being worried Alonso would undercut Max for 2nd was total BS just to provide some kind of lame justification for pitting Max first without giving Sergio the chance to make the call that should have been his as race leader.

If the stewards don't make Max give the position back i'm going to lose my s***.  I'm so tired of seeing him do this crap where he doesn't brake in time for a corner and drives off the track while also pushing another car off the track to avoid with colliding with him.  It's a ridiculous way to drive that is not the way racing should be.  

 

Edit:  and of course they don't.  a 5 second penalty is a joke and is not a penalty at all since he keeps the lead and can just extend his lead while running in clean air.  Should have been a stop and go penalty, what a joke F1 is since the latter half of 2021 and letting Max get away with anything and everything

Glad to see russel not putting up with Max's crap.  He was on the racing line and he was in front and Max tried to dive bomb him and Russell turned in for the corner as he should.  It shouldn't be the responsibility of the person being dive bombed to yield position and get out of the way of the person coming up the inside and unable to hit the apex

The five second penalty was crap. It was nothing to Verstappen. All that did was make sure he would win the race. It was kind of like the penalty Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh received from the Big Ten. It meant nothing.

This article describes how I have been seeing F1 the last couple years.  I've only been watching since 2014 but I watch because I'm a huge car and motorsport guy and an engineer so this is both combined.

 

Unfortunately it seems like F1 wants this to be some kind of once in a lifetime experience as opposed to just being a fan and going to a race.  I feel like F1 should be like going to an NFL game or a MLB game when your team is in town.  Instead the way they are pricing it's more like an "I went to an F1 race once" for the majority of people.  

Golfers, in general, tend to be more well off than most so i'd be curious how many people here actually considered going to the race in Vegas this weekend?

No way was I getting to Vegas this year.  When the tickets went up and it was a $10k trip minimum for my wife and I.

Looking at ticket prices for next year, we may be able to do it if we can get a decent rate at a hotel.

I've done Indycar, and that was great at about $275/person for great seats, would be okay with $500 for F1.

We have the F1 track in Austin.  Haven't been to the F1 but typically do the MotoGP and it's a blast.  Ticket prices are much better on the GP.

A little bit of that (broken team), and my goodness just incredibly unlucky ... along with Ferrari engines being abysmally bad in '23 comparatively to '22. 

Drive to Survive just won't be the same without him ... if they elect to do another season for the 2024 calendar. That 2021 season with Max and Lewis spoiled us all F1 fans.
