Good morning all from a crisp and cool Wisconsin morning. Uncharacteristically high temps lasting for one more day here and then we are going to get into normal fall temps. I am looking forward to it as cold temps are much more enjoyable for bow hunting. Still hoping to get plenty of golf in before the end of the season, but we are getting to that time of year where it is starting to wind down. Handicap is currently sitting at 21.4 after yesterday's disastrous round, and hoping I can get to 20 or just under by the end of the year as that was one of my goals for this season. New Scotty is scheduled to arrive Thursday, so really looking forward to that!

every weekend we seem to have a storm blow through - starts Friday and finally dries out Sunday afternoon. thankful to have so much vacation time and a good employer.

Good morning all!

Soaking in this warm weather while I can. Seems like a cold front and some storms are inbound this upcoming weekend. I have a family golf tournament Saturday in upstate NY, so I'm hoping we somehow get lucky and miss it. Can't say I'm the biggest fan of playing in the rain, but even a bad day on the course is a good one.

Busy week at work even though I'm off Friday. Lots to do and little time to do it!

Good morning, Spies!

I have been away from the forum too much for my liking, but all due to busy work and busy fun last weekend.  Good reasons!

Another busy work day today.  Golf is planned for tomorrow.  Getting 18 in before the weather is predicted to start to turn colder.  The goal is to *finally* break 80.  Scores have been improving steadily, with several 9-hole scores in the 30's, just unfortunately paired with 43's or 44's to leave me at 80 or 81.  Fingers crossed.

G'Day mates!!

Late start for me after yet another night of very interrupted sleep... Dr. Mom will be accompanying me on another trip to Urgent Care later (next available regular Dr appt +6 weeks from now!!??!!) so she can ask lots of questions (I tend not to - once I'm in a doctor's office pretty much all I wanna do is get outta there! ).

Anyway sorry to be a complainer but this thing has been nagging at me for getting towards 3 weeks now....

Other than that it is like an incredible late Summer day here! Really warm. Will hit up the range for a while - wedges and irons need a *lotta* work - based on my last few rounds my driver is the best club in my bag right now! 

...which is an interesting-but-that's-golf 180 from the past few seasons where I didn't even carry a driver in the bag!!

Whatta game, right??

Great!  After three cancellations last week, we have schedule a round on Thursday and hope again on Friday, weather permitting.  Tired of this rain and thunder every day.

Preaching to the choir.   I’m on 3 months and have an appointment 6 weeks from now with no diagnosis in site.   My wife keeps saying she is going to come with me since she doesn’t think I am explaining what is going on with enough urgency.  
 

hope they figure it out quickly and you get on the road to recovery.

Good Morning everyone!  Up early today, but late posting.  Went to Costco at 6am for gas ($4.80/gal ) because it’s not crowded then; hate waiting in line.  Working on my new PT exercise routine; takes about an hour.  Now I’m making Naan bread with garlic butter; waiting for it to rise.  

After a little rain last night, it’s shaping up to be a decent low 70’s day with sunny 80º days the rest of the week.   Hope you have a great day and enjoy golf if you can!

When I look at this lineup I feel confident in my choices however I know I need some more distance in my longer clubs so I have started working on developing more club head speed with the driver and mini driver. 

And I am working on getting my splatter pattern tighter on my scoring irons ie 7-PW.

The grind continues. 

Just as a point, all these numbers are on a launch monitor in a controlled environment. 

 

Love the detail here. The knowledge gives a base for confidence.

My son messaged me last week. $193 to fill his truck. Naan makes for a great pizza. (Olive oil, garlic, mozzarella, Italian sausage and broccoli)

KB, thanks for sharing.  Although I intend to look up Naan bread and how to make, I am concerned with your cost of fuel.  Although here in Florida we produce no oil products we are still paying today ($3.36 reg. - $4.03 Pr.) at Costco.

Would like to find out about your bread. What you eat it with and reasons for  making.  You stated waiting to rise...with yeast or unleavened.  Sounds great from what I gathered online.  You make with bread machine or knead by hand?

Although currently not raining it is slightly overcast and am hoping the breezes will dry up the courses for later in the week.  I have not played for almost two weeks.

Happy Tuesday!  On my 2nd driver hole this morning, an extension in the driver shaft I was using broke during the downswing.  It's an old Diamana Whiteboard shaft that I used to love and I added an extension after trimming it down to 3 wood length a few years ago.  So my 3 wood had to do double duty this morning.

Yikes! and double Yikes!!… Your 5 iron distance is further than my roll out distance of my driver and driver is the strength of my golf game. I truly need to seriously consider going the soccer league route and relegate myself to miniature golf. …..,Nice set up.

Thanks!  I’ll have to give it a try.  Our gas is cheaper on this side of the state than in Seattle, and our idiot governor is raising the gas tax (already near highest in nation), so it will go to over $5… probably close to $6 in Seattle.

I like it with soups and salad (what we had tonight).  I’m still working on getting the dough just right. Not much to it; flour sugar, instant dry yeast, salt, warm water, yogurt, and olive oil.  A little too much sugar; tasted great but I don’t need the sugar.  The trick is getting the dough to not be sticky, so have to adjust the flour.  Knead by hand, let it rise, roll out small portions to 1/4” and sear in a hot pan for 30-45 sec per side.  I brush with melted garlic butter.

Weather starting to turn here with nice cool mornings. Got the paradym yesterday but was working so no chance to hit it. This morning got to work early and finished that, swapped the adapter over to a stiff shaft and now went to the range... but they are working the range and therefore closed. The norm is Monday and Thursdays however for some reason they are doing 4 days this week. 

So off to get a coffee and hope they finish up around 9 so I can hit some balls and get the driver dialed in.

Good morning spies!  Up early, coffee in hand and productive day ahead. Skipped the indoor soccer game last night. 11:45pm game was just too late after the last couple long days. Body needed sleep.  

It's my son's last day of school for the week so we plan on taking him down to the coast to see my inlaws and get away for a couple days. 

Plan to hit the range this morning.  They just opened up the putting green so I plan on getting some putting done as well.

Good morning MGSpies on a thank goodness the commute was only to the basement Wednesday here in my corner of WNY  coffee already helping as an air freshener and soon as elixir, yesterday was a study in packing 10lbs in a 5lb bag.  Downtown for the early arrival for parking, worked until just before 3pm, 2 hour drive to Erie PA and The Ridge Golf Course for the last PGA HOPE session there and of all the 7 HOPE programs for 2023 for the WNY PGA Section - awesome on course play as mentor player for a Veteran who had never golfed before (and I think she will be just fine joining her husband on the course now with confidence!)  Finished after sunset in the afterglow of a summer day in autumn for food and graduation awards, and lots of awesome fellowship.  Arrived home before 10:30pm!

  

Tee time this afternoon so get to enjoy this last day of summer in autumn in WNY!  Hope golf is a part of your day too!

Good morning everyone. Lots of rain yesterday and last night that was badly needed. Cool temps for the next couple of weeks suggest fall is here to stay and summer is gone. Gonna be a rough ride at school today so might have to make it three cups of coffee today. Or maybe just a couple extra shots at the coffee stand. We had breakfast for dinner last night so the leftover bacon and cinnamon rolls are helping get the day off to the right start. Just have to get over the hump and make it to tomorrow. Sometimes .. maybe, tbd .. ya gotta get the drugs...

2nd trip to Urgent Care - where my wife came "with me since she doesn’t think I am explaining what is going on with enough urgency" - and where we got a very nice doctor who very patiently explained why they cannot and won't prescribe anti-biotics on your first visit (you may have heard or read essentially they're over-prescribed and so the viruses are becoming resistant and thus the drugs are becoming less effective). And he gave me a diagnosis and a course of treatment.

Came home with *THREE* meds .. and this morning am already feeling better .. head is clearer, coughing is reduced, breathing seems a bit easier. So fingers crossed this will knock it out!

Ok so prob all waaaay too much info for the The Good Morning thread but there's the current big news in my life, my friends

On the golfing front...

..did get out for a short course 9 yesterday afternoon with a friend. It was a really nice day and felt like I had to. Didn't play too great overall - even tho ball striking with longer clubs is improving, the short game is where I threw away a bunch of strokes...

Gotta work on things like 40-60 yd pitches, greenside chipping and putting. Putting putting putting. I took a few opportunities in just 9 holes to convert possible 1 putts into 3

Wow...I have actually showed up to The Good Morning Thread in the morning.  Golf is a rainout today, but that is okay because we need the rain.
