As far as the wedges go, I find the 286 to be more forgiving for full shots, which is why I like to have that as my 54*. The JB seems to be very versatile and I'm enjoying the look of the full groove face. I've found myself loving the "swipey" lob shots that have boat loads of spin!

Good morning! Had a nice morning so far of sipping coffee and catching up on the GMT from the weekend!

I had a nice weekend myself with a lot of time spent on the lake doing all sorts of boating activities with family. Tubing was the biggest hit amongst the kids, but we also skied, surfed, fished and just cruised. The weather was decent to perfect and it was great to have the extended family around. 

Now it's time to get to work and hopefully get enough done to squeeze in some golf this week!

Good Monday morning Spies!

Hopefully this finds everyone well rested after the long weekend and ready to reengage in regular scheduled weekly activities... 

Overcast with slight possibility of rain from Beryl but at least temps are a little lower although humidity remains high. Thoughts and prayers with those directly impacted by this force of nature.

Hahaha but seriously very sorry to see things did not go as hoped for... We all know you worked hard to prepare but yeah playing multiple tournament rounds in a row .. and pushing your bag, and in Scottish weather .. I'm sure can be very tiring...

Speaking of which - if you generally like walking your rounds then I very strongly urge you to look into an electric trolley. Yeah they're big $$$ but wow they are a, well, game changer!!

..just be careful with the remote .. I did that goof once but didn't run anyone over .. gonna try Tom's method using the belt...

Good morning spies! Got home from the "cabin" in the mountains yesterday late morning and headed straight out to the course. It was only 108 when I left.... No birdies, no doubles, but no great putts either. 

Phoenix area looking at a new record high of 116 today and we are playing the back twice for some reason. I am running the game and since it is going to be hot, real hot I think I will split the money 60/40. 60% will go to the winning team, not sure about the game yet, ana 40% will be split between the players who can post a net par or better both times they play the number 2 handicap hole on the course.

Yeah I knew about the witch's stone, but I was more concerned about runaway carts at that point, followed by the ball I sliced/lost into the gunch. I will definitely look into a power trolley.

I have just taken it easy today. Took a nap, fortunately brought some Icy Hot rub with me and used it, and the back feels somewhat better. We'll see if I'm up to playing tomorrow. Going to go to the club tomorrow and meet some people who were elsewhere during the weekend.

we have been home owners for a decade at least, haven’t rented since 2007.  Man it is insulting the questions these people ask about renting a house.  Also, looked at one they want a fortune for that was so filthy I can’t believe they even showed it to us.  What in the world.

I wish I was only 3 hrs away. My plane ride is closer to 4 then I have to deal with getting to and from the airport. 

Sycamore is actually a nice little town. I schedule my fittings just before lunch or a little later afternoon so I can grab a sandwich and drink before heading back to my daughters place in Aurora. 

Thanks for the update on the JB wedges. I haven't read the reviews for them yet as I am sure I'd be on Sub 70's site ordering something from the demo page.

Good morning, fellow Spies!  We went on a road trip last week with our oldest daughter and her family to Colorado, Arizona, and Utah.  We visited several National Parks and saw amazing mountains and landscapes.

Good Morning everyone!!  It’s already 92º and headed to 107º; gets hotter the next few days before cooling off to low 100’s.  Just finished mowing the lawn; we are on a mandatory irrigation watering restriction… I get to water each circuit for 20 minutes on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  The reservoirs up in the Cascade Mountains are extremely low on water this year.

I played this weekend; shot 79 on Saturday and 80 on Sunday.  My back is still sore, but I can swing without much pain.  This weekend was the first time out with my Kuchar right arm-lock putter; same Ping putter head as my gamer.  I putted pretty well with it; line was generally good, but I need more practice with speed control… left a bunch of putts short.  However, that might be due to the course not mowing the greens as tight as usual; they seemed slow… maybe 10 on the stimp.  A big difference between putting with the right arm-lock putter is I need to look at the ball instead of the hole during the stroke.  Not comfortable with it; my stroke is not consistent enough yet to support looking at the hole.  Work in progress.

Morning everyone. It's still morning here so I'm allowed. Took a short trip south for the weekend and most of us ended up with some sun burns from the beach visit. It's not even close to the worst I've ever had, but I'm definitely feeling it this morning. Unfortunately I got the majority of it on my legs so it hurts a bit to walk and stand. Good thing I'm just working from the computer today catching up in my class. I'll end up taking it easy for a few days and be back to normal soon enough. I'll stick to some putting practice until it doesn't feel like I'm baking when I step outside. The current heat wave isn't exactly helping that feeling either. 

With my FIL's current situation, there's a possibility that my MIL will be coming in for a few weeks to visit and help out. It's a whole story why they don't both live with us currently, but if it happens, the kids will be happy to see their grandmother again. Things can always change with everything going on, so we aren't telling the kids anything until it's a little more sure.

Was up too early to post. The coffee hadn’t kicked in yet. 

Played a new course to me with a friend of mine this morning. Wayne Hills Country Club. I have reciprocal privileges. Very nice course in good condition. My iron play let me down though. Driver was ok as was my short game. A few misreads were the issue with my putting. The DF3 just simply went where I pointed it. Overall good experience and will have to get out there again. The burger at the turn was good and they even had a can of Modelo. Didn’t expect to find that in farmland’s of Central NY. The drive was great. I even stopped at a farm stand and got fresh early corn and some cherries.

@Josh Parker glad the storm wasn’t as severe as expected and that it turned away from your family.

@Erin B hope you are feeling better after your “issues”.

Also, after my Friday night round. my LAB golf headcover was missing. Didn't get back to the pro shop until today to see if anyone had turned it in. The pro directed me to the lost and found basket in the locker room. No LAB headcover. Maybe it will turn up before I leave Saturday.

As for yesterday's competitive disaster, four other guys in my age group and 15 overall also recorded no scores. So I only tied for DFL.

The highlight of the day has been a very good meal at my clubhouse after the fruitless search for the LAB cover. Roast beef, carrots, broccoli, caultiflower and an excellent seafood soup. I've told GF to look for the recipe for cullen skink (the soup). Back at my cottage, rehydrating (with Coke Zero) while I wash three days worth of golf clothes.

The weather hasn't been too bad. Temps in the high 50s/low 60s, intermittent rain and the sun even peeked out a few times today. The only soaking rain was during my Friday evening mini-round. GF tells me it's been abnormally hot and muggy at the Casa, which is precisely why I planned this trip for July (that and a collection of tournaments at courses I wanted to play, although Golspie seems to be a scratch). If Golspie had been on Tuesday, I probably could have played it.

And I completely forgot to mention the tournament rules: You had to play with 7 clubs in your bag. Total. I kept driver, 7 wood, 7 iron, 8 iron, 54 degree wedge, lob wedge and putter. Made club selections rather interesting and I hit a few drivers off the deck. Which I might have done anyway.

Good morning all on a grey and wet start to the day. Another duty day and the rain is set to last so unlikely I’ll get out again today. No golf for over a week now and it’s getting me down. Hoping the weather improves and I get out this week at some point. In the meantime I’ll have to rely on MGS for my golf fix.

Good morning Spies! Looks like a rare dry day a few hundred miles to your north, @Northern Monkey, but it's overcast and it won't surprise me a bit if the Met Office is wrong. Tomorrow looks like a rain day for our club tournament. My back tightened up a little bit overnight but I think moving around a bit will help with that. Going to the club later and at least hit some putts, plus meet the club manager and the pro.

Regarding the 7-club rule for Sunday's tournament, it was right there in the name of the tournament (Macleod 7 Club), but nowhere in the tournament description did it actually say you had to play with 7 clubs. However, the pro made sure we knew at check-in, and the car park was right next to the first tee, so it was easy to drop off the seven culls in my trunk (or boot). I ditched the clubs I don't hit much.

It's a damp morning here as we got some rain overnight. I was actually shook awake around 11 by a crack of thunder and was able to fall back asleep. 

The first day back at work was a good one, mechanical issues kept us from doing anything and it was nice to ease back in.

Morning all!

And it’s pretty beautiful. The rain stopped yesterday afternoon, and today it’s sunny and in the 70s (21°C). We’re heading up the coast to check out the northern most tip of the area. Should be good.

Good morning MGSpies from a not quite daylight yet downtown Buffalo parking spot by the office building for this week's rendition of in the office workday.  Enjoying the quiet moment before heading into the building listening to G Mills' Sassafras on Pandora with hot coffee in the mug setting a mellow tone just perfect to start the day.  Played 9 holes yesterday evening with @The1C3man at our favorite local muni that looks this year like an upscale club with the way the grounds are lush and well kept even late on a high temperature high sun exposure day.  No plans for golf today for me but hope golf is a part of your day

Made it through another hot day, and actually kept the house at about 80 which is a real win, currently have more fans than I can count running to get the cool air in before we trap it in for the day.

Back to work after the long weekend, went as expected, now we are really back into it now.

Got my morning run in before the heat which I am grateful for. If someone could find a place with 12 months of fall weather that would be great.

Good Morning Guys, I ended up playing 31 holes last night. It was hot out and that kept most of the guys at home. I pulled into the parking lot and was the 4th car there. I love that when you can take your time and not have to worry about holding up anyone or waiting on a tee box. At the moment my driver is pretty darn good but I'm battling a pull draw that is driving me half nuts with my irons at the moment. When I compensate and aim further right then I seem to hit it dead straight or a little fade to it. I just have to find the happy medium I guess. 

I will be back out to play again this evening for at least 18.

Hit them strait guys!

I would be absolutely miserable if my house was at 80. I keep mine at 69 all year long.

I was the other day as it was 80 but humidity must have been at 79. Not too bad lately as its been drier. Try to limit the AC usage, but still have most of July and August ahead so you never know.
