2024 My Golf Spy Annual Forum Outing-Kingsmill Resort

As I mentioned previously, I plan to arrive on Tuesday the 28th, and will head for home on Monday June 3.

Alth9ough I won't be staying at Kingsmill, I will be about 10 minutes away according to the maps of the area.

Would be interested in extra rounds, a trip to MGS HQ, and whatever else may be planned by the group.

Viniterra is a nice layout, just a little north of Royal New Kent.

I just watched some video from a flyover of that course and it looks both beautiful and intimidating at the same time.

I'm flying in Thursday morning, about 10am.  Decided to rent a small car (found a deal for $198, in case anyone's looking) and just drive from RIC to wherever people are meeting up. I have to fly out Sunday late afternoon, so wanted to make sure I had an easy way back to the airport after the morning round on Sunday without tying anyone up by asking for a ride.  That being said, if anyone's coming in around the same time, I'm happy to drive - we my have to cram some clubs in the back or something, lol, as the "kia clown car" I rented may not be all that big

Royal New Kent is a challenge…lots of elevation changes and raised greens, plenty of trouble.  One of my favorites in the area even though it kicks my butt every time!

I can see why, the vegetation in front of that first par 3 would probably collect about half a dozen of my golf balls.

From what we’ve heard so far, I would say Viniterra or Golden Horseshoe.

I think it was @cnosil said Golden Horseshoe is a good and popular course.

Golden Horseshoe is a very nice course. I played it several years ago. It’s on the pricey side because of its ranking. But you won’t be disappointed if you play it. Currently running $145.00 for midweek. You can’t look out far enough to see what the summer rate would be.

Several factors in my opinion. Tourist area. Really nice course. Always top ranked in VA.

It was a great Community Call today that had some substantial conversation that was about this coming Meet Up at Kingsmill with references to previous meet ups at Queenstown Harbor and Pinehurst.  

In particular it had to do with the prowess of some of our members calves.  Here is a convenient link to jump to the Community Call thread and something about the conversation that did go on a bit today!

Ok, so just so I'm clear as I'm trying to lock down some form of a plan for transportation before prices start to creep, the Vinterra round is scheduled for early arrivals on Thursday in place of RNK, right, or is Vinterra potential for Wednesday, arrivals with RNK being Thursday? I just wanna know so that way I can plan arrivals and whatnot.

90% sure RNK is Thursday's plan, with Wed being Vinterra.

That is my understanding. We will try to play Viniterra on Wednesday and Royal New Kent on Thursday

What time is the Thursday tee time expected? I may try to get up early enough to arrive in time, depending on tee time. Or even try to drive part way Wed night and stay a night somewhere along the drive.

I think we want to shoot for 2pm ish for Thursday. Not going to lie I really want to play that round with @GolfSpy SAM so hoping a little later will give him a bit of life off the plane.

Once the Thursday round is finalized, let me know. Since I'm driving, it's easy for me to alter plans as needed to make it in for the round and warmup and all that.
