Weather was great and I had a much better day. Hit 10 fairways and 15 greens. Although I had 33 putts, I rolled the ball much better. Cowan is still recovering from all the cold and rain. Course was very wet and the greens were bumpy. Had a good 5 lip outs. At the end of the day, even par is always a good round.

Was able to get out first thing this morning and it was a little chilly.  Had a so so round but enjoyed the time on the course.

Driver still continues to improve, and my short game has kept my scores down.  I noticed I was swaying in my iron shots a few holes in and made an adjustment and started hitting the ball much better.  When I sway, I tend to pull the ball right of my target.

Overall, a decent round and looking forward to the nice weather this week to get a couple more rounds in.

It wasn't bad.  Nothing spectacular but no major bad shots.  Had one drive that hit a tree but hit 2 great shots for a tap in par.

Decent day, started cool, high 50s at finish.  Greens were not the best today, a little shaggy - made Valerie Hogan's statement to Ben that to make more putts just hit it closer to the hole come to mind simple, but true!

So this is new to me. After six or nine holes, I realize that I need to tap the screen where I mean to aim my shot. Is that right?

I blew up on a few holes, but there are errors that I think I can eliminate the next I'm out there. I'm not surprised with my score, but at the moment my sim HCP is 17.8, compared to my real world HCP which is 24.

The highlight was sinking a 33 foot putt from just off the fringe. Trackman was so happy for, shooting fireworks and giving me instant replays. I'm glad there was no sound because it was coming a little embarrassing.

I wonder if I had played this course for real if it would have been easier or harder.

Weather made a dramatic improvement this week but work was not letting me get away early enough to actually go outside yesterday. Decided to try another sim round after searching "best course TGC2019". With that, I was "off" too Pebble Beach. TGC didn't disappoint and the course was a lot of fun. I still had a number of 3 putts since I'm just not great at reading virtual greens. Lag putts are always hard to judge too. Otherwise,  I think I had only a couple relatively bad shots. Nothing I couldn't recover from but still, not ideal.

3 putts: 3 (35 putts total)
Fairways hit: 10/14
GIR: 12

Overall, a pretty consistent round. The swing is starting to feel good again. I just need to add some speed back in on the driver.

Got out early this morning in the cold weather and decided to play from the front tees to see how low I could shoot.  I had one bad hole and it's the easiest hole on the course.  Shanked a hybrid and re-hit my tee shot to the greenside bunker and just about holed my bunker shot.  The other bogie hole was a real bummer as I was right of the green and hit what I thought was a perfect chip/flop shot to a front left pin and it just didn't stop as it trickled by the hole and to the front fringe, leaving 10ft par putt.

I had 9/14 FW's and 14/18 GIR's.  Plenty of opportunities for birdie and was leaving myself just short on my putts for easy pars.  Had 3 birdies and 2 bogies.

Here are a couple of the birdies.

Second shot from 115yds downhill and I just about holed it out.  It took one hop just past the hole and rolled back to just over a foot or so.

20240131_080952.jpg.7fe4bbd6bb7fb7525fc27a6f49cc0c3b.jpg

Uphill par 3 - 163yds - Hit a great 8 iron to the right side of the green and let it feed back down to the hole.

Played in a Men’s Club Tournament today. Shot a nice even par round and came in third. Giving too many shots to the winners. Hit 10 fairways, 14, greens and had 31 putts. Had a bad string of three bogeys in a row and another three putt bogey on the back. However, had 2 nice birdies and eagled one of the par 4’s. Hit driver 338 and a nice pitch from 49 yards with my 58 degree wedge to a back pin on a slope. Hit the slope perfect spun and rolled down and into the cup! Greens are hard right now with patches of Poa annua that is knocking the ball off line. Missed 5 birdies and three par putts due to the Poa annua patches. Can’t wait till June when the Texas heat will kill it off!

This weeks SIM round we travel across the pond to the lovely Crans Montana in Switzerland.  A tale of two nines, the  front 9, 4 under, 4 birdies, irons on absolute fire. Had supreme horseshoes up my butt. The back nine 4 over, no birdies. Birdie fest on front. Bogie fest on back. My driver was overwhelmed by the scenic beauty and insisted on the scenic route on the back nine. My irons and short game couldn’t save me. All in all still a very good round.image.jpeg.b416f3e0cd3d6101db13895152c3ea67.jpeg

It was nice to be back in the tropics. The round started out really well - 24 footer to save par, followed by a GIR par 3. After 6 holes, the round was looking really good at +2!

Then the threesome I had joined up with asked if I wanted to bet drinks with them - I thought it rude not to partake on such a low-stakes game. Whoops.

Finished holes 7/8/9 at +4 to round the turn at 42. 🤦‍♂️

As I let the game get to my head (both figuratively and literally), I finished the back 9 at +11 to finish the round at 89. So obviously kicking myself for not staying the course, but I will admit those blokes were quite a riot to play with, despite it killing my round.

But I'm also really happy that a "round killer" was still only an 89. Ball striking was generally good. Lag putting was what saved the day today, even after 6 beers. It sets me up for some good scores going into 2024!

It was an absolutely beautiful day that I almost ruined with 10 pull-hooks typically followed by a slightly thin chip or pitch. The best part was I spread them out so that I could enjoy screwing up 1 shot on at least every other hole.

It was just frustrating to get in position and feel like I made a good swing and watch the ball go 30 yards left and 10 yards long. Then hit the next one 30’ passed the hole.

But 75° and sunny with no wind on January 31, it was a beautiful day.

"Ohhhh we got trouble....right here in River City."  Literally, I am in River City.  Mason City, Iowa, home of the Music Man.  So, last week, my buddy installed the Apogee system into his E6 Connect system, opting for the camera sensors over the leds that were in the floor.  Our tour was delayed a week, working out the bugs.  Here is my problem...everything is 10% less than before and I cannot afford to lose any more distance when I am playing against guys who hit it over 260-280.  My drives were barely going 200....and the numbers dont add up, I am hitting an M2 driver with the white on the top....and everyone thinks that is the problem.  On top of that, my Odyssey Versa putter wasn't reading on long putts...it would go like 5 inches on a 45 foot putt.  I doubled the first hole and battled back to post Par.  I was hitting TWO clubs more than normal just to be sure I got it there.  😡

I’m playing on Trackman 4. When I post a score, I then augment with real photos from the actual course. Graphics are very good on Trackman, but you really can’t replace the actual experience of playing there, but during the winter months it’s the next best thing.
