How'd you play?

I've entered into some sort of alternate dimension where par seems to be in play.   Not complaining, but I'm half wondering if I may be dreaming.   😄

Played the little exec I learned to play on.   A little Par 33 that's a lot of fun and a reasonable challenge.   Made par through the first 3 and left a putt for birdie in the Jaws (if it was a freshly cut hole it would have dropped).   Made bogey on the long Par 3 5th which I'm happy with because I had to hit a hooded chip from next to a tree trunk to get on the green.   Chipped in for Birdie on 6, made another on 7.  At this point I was -1 and I got greedy.  Tried to stuff the tee shot on 8 in close to the pin and short sided myself to walk with bogey then did the same with my second shot on 9 to finish +1.  I know this run won't last forever, but man it's been fun.

Great round! Ride the wave and let it soak in... You can make it last longer than you think!

Data golf site is about how professionals rank based on captured shotlink data.

Stagner is about analysis of how Typically amateurs  that use arccos perform and comparison to professionals.  It’s more about expectation management.

Fawcett is about course management and mental focus.

I think all three provide a different viewpoint and provide interesting information.   They are accurate in what they present so I don’t subscribe to one over the other since they are doing something different.

Not my best round yesterday but ball striking with my irons was awful & putting I just couldn't hold a line to save my life! This being my new average score im fairly happy about so trying trying to stay positive and strive for breaking into the 80's this year!

99 total - lost 5 balls due to OB with hybrid or iron strikes

7 fairways - to be fair here most were just outside of the fairway but I keep myself honest

39 putts - gave away probably 6 within 5ft

Thanks Jacob10 for the encouragement to focus on the positives. The good thing about using Shot Scope is that it gives me the positives but it also gives me the negatives in excruciating detail. For example, my short game is six strokes gained over a 25 handicapper, while my driving and approach shots are there or thereabouts. It's my putting that is letting the side down - 8 strokes down. And here's where the excruciating detail comes in: 7.7 strokes is the stuff under 10ft. For some unidentifiable reason, I do better when I am 30+ft away from the hole. So you are going to see me on the putting green, putting in the hours. And the putting mat. And the driving range. And the short game practice area. Because I want to move up a whole tier and compare myself to those big boys on 20 handicaps...

We could all use a little encouragement. I like seeing people enjoy the game and have a passion to be better. Playing and practice pays off.

Jacob

Played a quick round this morning and hit the ball pretty well.  It was a cart path only day after almost 2 in of rain yesterday and the ground was soggy.

Happy with the progress and continue to improve.

League report from last night
Driving - good (ish)
Approach - 100% turnaround from last week.  All good strikes
Chipping - like someone hogging the appetizers I was chip, re-chip, chip, chip, re-chip ugh
Putting - some room for improvement

overall struck the ball much much better than last week and scored worse due to timid chips

I am pretty terrible and new. Last weekend I played at Dragonfly links in Renfrew Ontario. It is a beautiful well designed course and the weather was perfect.

I played an excellent round (for my ability). Don't laugh, but I managed to break 110. it was a great accomplishment for me. looking to break 100 soon.

Keep going…you will get there!

Wife is out of town today which gave me a green light to get out to the course this morning. I'm a member at Amana Colonies Golf Club in Amana, Iowa, which is a hidden gem. I mean, look at this.

Every hole is tree lined and has very little room for error. However, this is by far my favorite course of all time, even with the challenge.

I played really well today and am happy with how I played. I shot +2 on the front and Even on the back. The best ever score I've ever posted on this course and one that gives me the confidence I need to continue playing well. Scorecard below for reference:

Played 9 holes after work on Thursday following a two week break. Shot a miserable 51, so many doubles!! Lots of fat approaches that left me short of the green even on the 3 fairways I hit. Everything wasn't terrible, I was getting off the tee pretty nicely even when I didn't hit the fairway. Hit one green in regulation and continued my series of #MissedBirdiePutts.

Other 14 over.  Seems I stuck at 12-16 handicap.  I have made some swing changes this month I’m hoping with improve my score

much stronger left arm hold on my irons and committed to interlock for almost all shots It’s making produce a high fade which is what I really don’t want    Initially wanted to draw but my fades are more consistent and powerful    I think I will have to learn readjust alignment

That looks stunning! Could you even remember how to putt on well manicured greens?😂

I'm glad you got a chance to play there.

The greens were legit!  Fast and depending on grain, really moved. I putted well.  It was not knowing the course that killed me.

I'm just happy you got out there and had a good time. Not having that course knowledge can be a real detriment to good scoring, you gotta know where to miss. That's something I've really leaned into this year in trying to minimize mistakes. The course you played looks beautiful and I hope you can get it there again.

I'll get to play a few more times this summer. My playing partners son plays golf for UTEP and works at the course during the summer. He's able to get us on.

Work has been pretty slow the past couple of days. I was able to get out for 18 on Thursday, Yesterday, and today. The scores have been getting better and better with each day. Today was the best by far, birdied two par fives but doubled to par 3s. The funny part of all this when I got back to the car to tally my score, I thought I 89, but it turns out I shot 90 hahaha

Had a good ball ball striking and basically and anything over 50 yards was going to be close . Chipping and putting was dreadful.   I had days when the opposite happens when I am deadly chipping and putting and have great touch but my long game sucks.  I have never had days when both are extremely good. I have days when it’s half descent long game and half descent short game and score the best then.   I have accept my limits on those days
