JerryB
How did I play? Great!! Owen and I played 18 at River Heights today. Weather was beautiful and we mostly had a great time. Owen had a really rough go of it on the green. Quite a few putts that burned the edge or lipped out. He was frustrated but kept his wits. Driver was giving him fits again but the rest of his game was really on point. Slightly better luck and he could have dropped ten strokes off his score. I had some driver issues of my own. Lost one in the water but otherwise nothing too penalizing, just wayward. My irons were better than recently but still not great. Luckily I just didn't need to play them too much. They were about a 50/50 split between on target and really hooky. Progress and such. My hybrids really shined today. Hit my long hybrid solid and my short hybrid worked great for punch outs, off the green putts, and regular shots as well. Inside 25 yards was great. Between the hybrid and several short chips I seemed to hit everything just right. Because I was getting it close, my putting was on point as well. I had a three putt from distance on a tricky green and one more that was just poor putting. But I also had eight 1-putts, including two from about twenty feet. Owen had a (+20) 92 and I went 41/44 for a (+13) 85. One triple, two doubles, and a birdie. I went +2 on a seven hole stretch and Owen and I both birdied the same hole. Syks7
Good day. Middling score. 44/43 -- 87. I'm pretty happy though considering it was a tournament and I literally sprinted onto the tee box as my group was finishing teeing off. My 3.5 year old conspired with terrible traffic to make it a stressful morning. -- I probably had my best day ever off the tee. 12/14 Fairways hit. Blocked one to the right trying to drive the Par 4 11th, & caught a branch cutting a corner on 18. Otherwise my worst was 243 & my best was 285. Everything else was in between. I was focused on a single feel and keeping my trail elbow in front of my torso. Wish I had video because it actually felt like I was tucking that elbow in and opening my hips on the downswing. -- Approach failed me today until the last couple holes. Should have focused on the same feel as Driver. I was focused on something else and kept getting stuck. Too many missed opportunities to hit the green from scoring range. -- Wedges were rock solid again though still not quite saving me yet they're at least not doing damage anymore. -- Putting 37 total putts and only 33 feet of putts made. Also had a pair of three putts that were just silly. One that I blew past the hole and one that I left well short. Otherwise I was just a tiny bit off. Never had to do much work to clean up the lag and if I'd aimed a bit better the score would be very different. Popular Post Kenny B
Even though I have a sore back and sore right wrist (gardening), I decided to walk 9 holes this afternoon. I made a change in my driver just because I've never had it on the +2 setting. So, set my 10.5 Epic to 12.5 and moved the weight to the back position. Supposedly, this should shut the club face a little. My normal shot is straight to slight fade but miss is a bigger shot to the right... more push than slice. All drives launched higher than normal... duh! But I did not have any shots to the right, however I did have a draw when I planned on a fade... must be what the announcers call a double-cross! . Distance seemed to be normal with two good drives in the 210 range. I got more carry, but with the setting at 10.5 I got more roll. I think I'll play with this setting on Saturday before heading to central Oregon for a 5-day golf trip on Sunday, then make a decision. Shot a +5 42 on our hardest 9 holes which is almost normal. I did get up and down for par from the greenside bunker on the par 5 #6 (shouldn't have been there at all); and another up and down after shanking my tee shot on the par 3 #8 when I launched a SW over a grassy mound with no view of the green to 6 feet and made the putt. ejgaudette, GolfSpy_SHARK, sirchunksalot and 8 others 11 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

MadHatter
Walked 9 with the wife today after work. Just focusing on playing bogey golf, started the first 4 holes getting bogeys. The greens have been unusually quick lately, and I started having some putting issues. Three 3-putts (5,7,8) for 2 triples and a double. But I did sneak a birdie in there on the par 3 6. Pin high, about 7 ft left of the hole, drained the putt. All in all, I played fairly well with the exception of some odd putting on a few holes. 48 with 19 putts. MDGolfHacker
Do you ever have a day where you wake up and look forward to golfing when you ended your last round with the Eureka my swing is finally working as it should moment? Only to have it do a 180 on you? Well that's what happened on Wednesday. Beautiful day, sun is shining, the temps are perfect for some great golf. I get to the course a bit early as I was participating in a tournament. Swing was on, hitting wedges, irons very well and putting...I dropped 6 or so looong bombs during my warm up and only missed a few putts here and there. Well, somewhere between the third or four hole my swing mysteriously died. I started hitting wedge shots fat...like in beaver pelt sized divots fat. I normally don't even take divots. Started to miss putts and iron approach shots. Good thing it was a scramble as the team carried me. A two hour break and league play started. Driver was good, but then the fairway woods started acting up. Pull shanked two shots both into water hazards. The wedge woes continued with more beaver pelts being taken through league play. On the closing stretch of holes, I had a ray of sunshine and the chance to birdie a par 5 and win a skin. Hit a beautiful approach shot that left me 3' from the pin on a difficult pin placement. Promptly pulled the putt I left the course totally deflated and thought man I was in such high spirits this morning only to have it all go downhill. The only redeeming factor is that I got to golf with some good friends in the scramble and in league. Luckily I'm skipping playing next week as I have prior commitments. So if you hit one shot fat your post shot routine can recognize the "why" behind that shot and fix it for the next shot. If you "pull" it left, your post shot routine can fix that for the next shot etc. etc. I call it cause and affect and the only way to fix those during the round is to know the "why" behind it. Lots of info here but I hope that helps a little, I have had rounds where I am doing post shot critiques right up until my last shot, and damn, the total is not pretty lol..... and the other posts are correct, part of this crazy game we call "golf" or other 4 letter words... hopefully your next post will tell us you had a great round.... BobBC78
Played the back-9 for Friday league last evening. Shot nearly a career best 6-over 40 (I broke 40 twice about 15-years ago) including 3 pars and a birdie (first one of the year)! Golf being what it is, however, last week I shot a really poor 17 over 53 on the front-9.....hard to believe it was the same guy, LOL.
