Today was one of my more solid rounds. 6 pars, 8 bogeys, and 4 doubles. Yea !! No Triples!! I was watching Bryson Dechambeau at the Masters and noticed his more upright position. That is something I had somehow gotten away from. Since I play single length irons like him, I thought I would emulate him more in the setup and swing and it worked.

Cleaned it up a little bit.  Tee shots were not working at all today, but scrambling and putting was better.  Still lost it on the back 9, but feel like I'm trending in the right direction this season.  Only lost two balls!  On this course that's pretty good.

Finally able to get out and play after what seems like months of rain, wind and floods. Considering I was able to get some time and put the new irons in play and testing the Bridgestone mindset balls, it was a good day.

Putted very well, no 3 putts, Tee to green was spotty with some awesome shots sprinkled in.

Maui is so beautiful then you throw in golf... Speechless.

When I played on Maui it was The Royal Ka’anapali Course, I played well that day, recorded a HOLE IN ONE on #17 with a 9 iron and finished the day 2 over par. I stayed across the street at the Sheraton Maui resort with I got very cheap when I was the program manager for Priceline.com customer service. but that was many moons ago.

I want to go play St Andrews on the next big adventure, but that is down the road.

Oh and I'm leading. First out the gate.

Also played Barassie in Ayrshire yesterday. It is just up the coast from Troon as it prepares for the Open.  Shot 85 but with a slope of 137 ended up with 13 strokes so ended up nett 72. I usually get a nose bleed on courses longer than 6500 and we played Whites at 6800. So happy with my 3 rounds so far this week.

If par is 70 and you shoot 78 with a 9 handicap then I think minus 10 is wrong

68.7/117 slope/rating.

Played from the silver(back tees) today.  I was happy to see that the weather man was off on the call for rain, but the wind was ever present.  Slow start, combined with greens sanded after aeration on Monday made the front +4.  An overly aggressive line on 10 paid off, challenging the water on the right(corner of the dog leg) left me a SW in to the green and a birdie with a 10' putt.  2 bogey's on the bag gave me a net +1 on the back +5 for the day.

Someone sorted it for me. I put in nett score to par rather than gross.

Nice to start posting on VCT again!

Today was a scorching hot day here in Singapore. We are trying to cram as many rounds in at our only public 18 before it's shut down at the end of June. After that, we can only hope more tee times are made available at a semi-private course.

Today I tested out my friend's KZG irons to replace my Sterling single-lengths. I think I might have to go back to regular clubs. 🤪 the driver was a little more erratic than usual, but the irons saved the day, putting me within striking distance every time. Just need to tighten up the putting.

I continue to play the golf tees:  rating: 67.7, slope:  124.

This is an 81 week!   Not only did I shoot the same score twice, I also shot the same on the front (43) and back (38) on both days.

Lately, I've been on a good run of chipping and putting which has helped my scoring immensely (given my 175-yard drives are not going to overpower the golf course).

image.png.6887517cc14278f00b8d0224ec7f81e5.png

I hit 79% of the fairways (about typical for me) but 22% greens in regulation (about double for me).  The five up and downs for par were good, but the three up and down for bogey also were critical for keeping my score reasonable.  A long bunker shot sandy par also helped as well.  28 putts (with no three putts) rounded out a good round.

When I look at my last several rounds, I seem to be either more consistent and/or a streaky player in that I've been on runs of pars.  In my last four rounds, I've had runs off 2 three straight pars in a row (on the same nine), 1 four straight pars and 2 five straight par runs.  It's interesting that all the big streaks have been on our back nine.

Due to various volunteer commitments, my golfing will be limited over the next two weeks.  I'm torn because I typically play three times a week and good to take some time off (as I did last week for a family trip) versus wanting to play to see if I can keep my decent scoring up.  Hopefully, I'm finding a groove!
