What/How Did You Practice Today?

You have to get he real thick stuff the plow dude leaves at the end of your driveway to get the real effect.

Not sure why but this reminds me of when I took a sand wedge to the beach one vacation. I hit a bunch of balls and my wedge was soooooooo rusty when I got home. I thought I ruined the club and buffed it out. Only to find out that rusty wedges are a good thing

Played relaxed 12 holes after work with one of my best mates, who is very much a beginner. I was trying to put smooth solid swings on every shot, both for myself,as my rhythm has been a bit off, and to show him he doesn't need to try to smash it.

Got lots of rhythm back, and was very pleased with my game. It was blowing a solid 2-3 club wind. Got around the 12 holes in 1 over, with a penalty thrown in.

Had much better feel on the greens, holed 6 putts from 10-15 ft.

My mate was asking for tips, I tried to get him to change his posture, he was almost in pretzel position at address. Told him to go get a couple of lessons and he'd be sorted out quickly.

Yeah. This snow is way thinner than sand so the feel is much different. Even with hitting a few inches behind the ball, I made very solid contact and launched the ball into the neighbor's yard.

Love the video - will have to try that this week but will use some of those Volvik vivid balls I found on the course.

I hit a bucket of wedges today with my new CBX wedge. I'm addition to full shots, worked on half shots, pitches and chips. Think I'm going to like this alot.

Went back in for another swing lesson today. The pro turned off the camera and just had me hit in the net with TrackMan.Really impressed and so was he.The face angle and spin axis were the numbers he had me concentrate on vs a form look.Had many a number where face angle was almost at 0 or slightly above or below.Balls went dead solid straight the closer I got that number under 1.Out of 30 swings today, I had at least a dozen or more with a real nice controllable face angle. Can say now that this hard work is going somewhere.

Keep it in the short stuff

Putting today. No fancy putt makes or anything. I just wanted to see my stroke in slow MO. I was surprised by the amount of rotation and arc. I thought I was mostly SBST.

Studque, I would not worry about your arc.  The only thing that I see is the very small loop in transition.  There is a Instagram teacher I follow called Potters Putting and he stresses the importance of getting rid of any re-routing.  Your stroke looks better than mine.

And he offers putting lessons via sending in videos. I've been following him for just a short period of time and may do a “2 video” deal

Putters arc; it is a fact based on stance, how the body works, and just how putters are designed. Don't worry about whether your stroke is Arc'd or not. It is more important to know if the putters and your stroke work together

Had more confirmation that what is being shown to me is correct. The teacher had me bow my wrists in transition today with a feeling of only hitting my 6 iron 100 yards. Amazingly I went from 145 yard 6 irons to 173 at the end of the session. All with a feeling of bowing and just swinging easy and letting club do the work.My spin rates were very solid and majority under 3 again. If I can swing This easy but still hit respectable I'm surely sold on this.It really felt like I was just bunting then Ball nowhere

Took advantage of the warm weather yesterday and practiced a little chipping and putting. Didn't practice long as my lower back was hurting. Actually, the rust was good for my game as all the bad habits weren't there, lol.

We had a two day weather reprieve but my ground was so wet from the melting snow I didn't get to chip outside. I have been practicing my putting inside. Throughout the day I probably hit 50 putts a day and am pleased with my progress.

Went back for just a quick lesson today on the full swing.Right off the bat I started off with major toe hooks- fat and way lefts. Was registering some awful 5 irons. The pro had one look and did a quick address change. And walla, back to nice and straight.Even finished with a career high 5 iron of 188 carry 204 with roll.Said I was standing way to far away again.Which makes me get way under and swing excessively out to the right with an extreme closed face at impact. He had me almost start crowding then ball in feel. But to my surprise,it straightened me out.Its great how he checks in on me even when I go to just hit a few for fun using their launch monitors. But also bothers me that I need constant attention and always revert back to bad habits.

Had to work today so no usual Saturday game. Hit some full gap wedges, happy with the contact and ball flight. Worked a little on 60 yd shots, a bit inconsistent, so more work required.

Did a bit of short game practice, chipping with 49 and 57 wedges. Finished up by playing around hitting some stupid lobs with the 49. Not something I'm likely to do on course, but it was fun and great to feel control over the club face.

Went back in to do weekly combine- TrackMan target games.Only took driver-7 iron and wedge. The overall feedback and ball to club contact has really improved from when I started this process. One thing I noticed is my swing just doesn't quite look like all the slow motion mirror work we do.Or the focus drills or swings on technique. The pro was very honest when I asked him why.He told me most major changes aren't always about a major look change. The results of what the ball does is the main goal.According to him, if a student can get the motion itself to look at least 30 to 40% of what we work on it is successful.Just trust the fundamentals intentions and ball flight versus a dramatic look change.Anyone else agree that really delved in one on one coaching ?

Keep it in the short stuff

Been working on my putting setup every day for a few days now. Setup is easy on a small practice mat, but I feel like I can't get everything squared up out on the course. Need to invest in a large putting green!

Had a great range session. Doing the drill my pro gave me to work on - 1/2 to 3/4 7 iron cuts. The object is to get the ballot start left of target and then turn right which I can do on the range, half speed.

Once I got full it turns into a beautiful baby draw.

I also worked on my fairway wood, trap shots and pitches. Hit the fairway as well as I'm able. Pitches were okay.

Traps? No comment.

Looks awesome...killin it!  Must be nice to be out in shorts and a tee shirt.

What are those lines or strings on the golf mat?  Do you bring those yourself?  I like those.  Seems like they help with alignment & swing path?

You've got a really nice high finish and everything is well balanced.
