Listening to someone talk about the upcoming baseball season that watches 3 games a year every October is akin to listening to Chris Berman call a golf tournament.

Shoot me in the head right now, please!

Or perhaps like listening to Charles Barkley on the NCAA Tournament Selection Show, talk about who got snubbed, when he couldn't point out the state on a map that St. Mary's is in.

Being woken up an hour early because I hear a noise in the one section of my attic. Mind you my room is in the attic. So I finally got sick of checking other areas for the cause and opened up the doors to find a mouse trap with a mouse in it. The dang thing was alive and I decided to meet my bb gun. Just had my neighbors move out and their kids move in never had mice problems in the attic ever until they moved in.

Setting mouse traps in the fall is an annual tradition - although I don't tell my wife since she'd try to figure out a more humane way to get rid of them.

Not if I could only get rid of all the chipmunks in the same expeditious manner.

I had squirrels move into my attic in my house in Maine. Took a hav-a-heart trap, a jar of peanut butter and about two weeks to convince them they were slumming it and needed to move uptown. What a pain.

Years ago we had 2 squirrels get into our chimney/fireplace. Somehow another guy and me got them out of there and the house. Of course it took a couple of beers and a chase around the house after we got them out of the chimney and fireplace. SWMBO was not amused , either was the cat.

They are such a nuisance. They're pretty cute, but that's their only redeeming quality.

In our house in Michigan, we had mice, birds, chipmunks, and Bats. Yes, bats, and they are scary, they fly crazy and it's hard to catch them. I got a call one night when I was golfing, the kids were in bed and there was a bat flying around he house, I get home and my wife is trying to get it out and trying to be quiet, I ended up using a window screen to kind of throw it out the front door, I missed and he hit the wall, but it just knocked him out. The second time we had a bat, I was able to catch him in a blanket and then get it out that way. I tell you though catching a bat is no easy task.

Our adopted cat caught and ate two squirrels (two, that I know of) last summer.  Unfortunately, that cat died last month.  I've heard that squirrels are high in cholesterol.   :)

Agree! They chewed up quite a few Texas lights on four strands I strung up in the backyard last year. Of course it was in the middle of the strand. So I left the lights on all day and all night for two weeks straight. I'm sure the shock they got from trying to chew up the cables have deterred them from further damaging the remaining strands.

Dude, all you had to do was shine a light outside of your house against the sky in the shape of a bat! 😂🤣😂

My father kept his motorcycle in an unheated shed over one winter, and they got in and nested in it. He ended up having the entire wiring harness on his Goldwing replaced because they'd chewed on it.

We always had at least one cat living in the barn and house to keep the rodent population from our living area.  I would only feed them only dry food so they were hungry for meat.  One cat used to climb the trees and lay on the branch where the bird nests were.  When the parents would fly into the next he would launch an attack and snatch them in mid air.  Somehow he always landed on his feet even if he were 30' up the tree.  The one cat was so mean he took on a raccoon and won.

I hate squirrels! We have a few in our yard - they immediate go for the bird feeder as soon as I fill it -  even though I have a loose disc that's supposed to keep them away. My wife and I have used pellet guns on them and they still keep coming back.

Funny story about squirrels. I volunteered with the local high school golf team from 2007-2014.  We took the team to Pinehurst in March 2012 as a reward for winning the state championship the previous October.  One of my favorite kids from any team I was fortunate to be a small part of was in the cart with me.  We were riding along the treeline down the left of #7 at Beacon Ridge when what seemed like hundreds of those infamous black and white squirrels that litter the Pinehurst area scattered in every conceivable direction.

The kid in my cart screamed "oh my God, the skunks climb trees down here" while rolling out of the moving golf cart and began running back toward the tee box.  We still get a good laugh about that every time I see him at my club.

Passive brag, in the time I volunteered we won state titles in 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012.  Couple that with state runner-up finishes in 2007, 2009 and 2014, it was a highly successful run!  The program has won 6 state titles since 2003.  I wish I had time to keep volunteering with them.  I miss it.
