revkev
Played ghastly on Sunday. On 14 I told my son that I was going to start stepping through my shots because, why not? I was on my way to a score in the high 80’s at the time. Hit a very nice 8 iron to 15 feet, missed the putt but then hit 9 wood from 165 to 4 feet and 8 iron from 141 to 5 feet, back to back birdies. (Opposite wind directions). Both shots were all over the pin, ending up directly behind the hole from the tee. ParFore74x
This shot is definitely stuck in my head. 136 yds out to a front pin and in the rough with a slight uphill that takes the surface of the green out of view. Went with 9 iron which is usually around 140-145 for me. Ball came out of the rough perfectly, sounded like a perfect ball strike to me. Straight and high right at the green. Once I crested the small hill and saw my ball about 12’ behind the hole, I was pretty happy with my club choice. As I got closer I noticed the ball mark and was thinking “if only it went a couple feet to the right”. ejgaudette, MattWillGolf, gavinski91 and 2 others 5 Quote TSi3 10° w/ Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Black 65g TS2 15° 3W w/ Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black 6.0 70g 818 H1 21° Hybrid w/ Mitsubishi Tensei CK Blue 70g MP-18 MMC 2 iron w/ KBS Tour C-Taper S 120g JPX 921 HM 5-GW w/ Project X LZ 5.5 115g JB Forged 54° & 58° w/ Project X LZ 6.0 120g EV5.3 Black
MattWillGolf
My shot of the day was on the only hole I parred, number 8. I didn’t hit my driver far but was in the fairway so I’ll take it. My second shot was the shot of the round. It was a nice drawing 4 iron to 18 feet and 2 putted for par. It beat out a nice drawing 7 iron on number 4 to 15 feet. But this was my 3rd shot as I had to punch out from the rough from behind a tree. Two putted for bogey. gavinski91
Followed up a bad drive with a chunked hybrid, and was left with 160 yards in with trees in the way. Had a gap in the trees off to the right, so went for the huge slinger draw and actually managed to pull it off (my standard shot shape is a fade/cut). Started 40 yards right of the pin and came all the way around to hit the right side of the green. Even managed to drain the 20-foot downhill putt for my only birdie of the round! tommc23
The course I played today with a hole that slopes hard and if you are on the right hand side can play tough. Hit a 5i off the tee leaving me 180 in and my distances of my clubs are down a club plus from last year so I hit my 5i again. Stuff it to within 10 feet. 340 par 4 on the green with two 5i and left the birdie putt short. The greens were soft and the 5i checked and one bounced. PMookie
The 17th hole at our public course is a LONG par 5 that is RARELY hit in 2, and I’ve only done it once in 20+ years. Yesterday I absolutely smashed a drive that got me JUST around the corner of the slight dogleg, leaving me 280 to the pin. Hitting the green in 2 is difficult because the oaks over hang a bit into the fairway so one has to move the ball 5-10 yards, depending on which side of the “corner” they’re on. Well, I took out the Cobra King Tec hybrid, turned-down to 16*, and absolutely SMASHED it as hard as I could. My playing partners were so excited because they’d NEVER seen someone hit the green in 2. Well, this hybrid is ridiculous. Pin high…. Just off the left side! Ugh! SO close. Played a little more draw than I expected! 53 years old and I had a 325 yard drive, with a 280 16*!!!! I’ll take that!!! Two shots in-a-row that were almost perfect! Obviously a big part of the game is scoring when your swing is absent from your normal tempo and feel. Yet playing with golfers shooting 90 or higher that think an excessive draw hit on the toe and runs an extra 40 yds leaving a wedge to the pin while they have hybrids is a "monster drive" while I am feeling like a complete hack. It would be too arrogant and rude to say "Naw I missed it pretty badly" so you just suck it up and keep it to yourself. I know some probably won't understand but when you play at a high level like you have and then struggle to make solid contact and the swing just feels off, even a little off, you would probably rather shoot a 76 with a good swing and hitting some poor shots solidly than you would shoot a 72 and the whole round is a grind and you never hit any shots like you know you are capable. Just because I hit a 7 iron thin, that lands short of the green and rolls top to 1 foot doesn't mean I received any gratification from that birdie. ... Great play outside of the green and I shot so much bigger with the really bad putting. amazing what the flat stick does for a round bens197, ejgaudette and sirchunksalot 3 Quote Check out my reviews: G710 Irons Official Review I MC Shaft & V Series Putter Official Review 2022 Forged Tec's Official Review I Nitron Push Cart Official Review WITB: Weapons of grass destruction (link to WITB) Traverse is filled with all this shiny metal and tracked by RadSpeed 8* - MotoreX F1 6X SIM 3W - Project X HZRDUS Green U505 Driving Iron 17* - Project X HZRDUS Black SpeedZone 4H - Project X HZRDUS Black 2022 King Forged Tec's 4-PW - KBS $ Tape 130 48 (SM8), 52 & 60 (SM7) - Nippon Modus 125 S ER2VI PROV1X #19 Are you a veteran? ncwoz
Was admittedly fighting my swing a lot yesterday, but golf has a way of giving you a reason to come back! Two shots of the day were on the same par 5 - drive was piped 315 dead down the middle. Rolled out all of about 2 feet, so all carry I'm not upset with that! Had 155 to a back pin, 160 was back of the green. My full 9 is 160, so I choked up to take a couple yards off. Pushed it right into the junk, and didn't see any stakes and wasn't sure if I'd find it. Hit a provisional which ended up being one of the best full approach shots I've ever hit. It was tracking towards the hole the entire way, pitched about 3 yards past the hole and came back to a foot above the hole for one of my all time best up and down par saves! Not gonna lie, I'm a little glad it didn't go in the cup haha. I would have had a "well I didn't technically hit an albatross but..." kind of a story, I'd rather just get one straight up some day and not need any qualifiers CarlH, gavinski91, ejgaudette and 4 others 7 Quote Right Handed Driver: 9° Speedzone (HZRDUS Smoke Green 70g X-Stiff shaft) 2 Hybrid: 18° Exotics EXS Pro (Evenflow Black 6.5) (2020 MGS Official Review here) 3/Driving Iron: 18° UiHi Iron (MMT Utility TX 105g shaft) Irons: 4-GW T100 irons (Nippon Modus 120 X-Stiff shafts) (2021 MGS Official Review here) Wedges: 54° & 58° TSW Forged (Dynamic Gold S300) Putter: ER2B (2019 MGS Official Review here) Ball: MAXFLI Tour X Bag: Hoofer Lite WITB thread here
Middler
In a threesome last Wed, playing a par 4, all three of us were over the green on our approach shot, lying 2. All of us were about 10 yards off the green with about 10 yards of green to work with. First guy runs his chip by though close to hitting the pin. I’m next and lob/dribble my chip in for birdie - yay. Last guy hits his a little hard but it hits the pin square and drops in for birdie - double yay. All of us are 12-17 GHIN, so highly unusual. cnosil
One of the nice things about being a forum tester for the Shot Scope ProLX+ is that I can now post hole pictures illustrating my shots. Gotta go with my second shot on this hole as my shot of the day. Pushed my 3 wood off the tee and then hit a perfect 3 wood that ended up just off the back of the green. chisag
... Not my shot of the day but I love to cry baby about how difficult par 3's are for scoring, especially compared to par 5's, so this is about Jordan Smiths shot on a par 3 everyday this week at the Scottish Open. He went 2-1-2-2 over 4 days and won a Genesis for his HIO. 7 strokes in 4 days going 5 under on one par 3. I have to think this is a record that will never be broken.
