What does the Reputation Numbers Mean?

Its when you post something and if someone likes it, they hit the green positive, if they dont and hit the negative it gives you a negative

We need to be sure we use the reputation buttons honestly. I don't think it is a good idea to just go and simply click positive feedback on whom the individual is.

 

If you agree with what someone says then click the green plus and if you don't agree then click the red minus, but don't just click it for no reason because that takes away from the function.

Oh well...I think I've clicked green once on someone, and red once on someone. Don't think I'll be using that function anymore.

I think that upon clicking the green plus or red minus button, there should be a prompt that reads:

 

"Are you sure you want to boost (or lower) this person's reputation? Y/N."

 

That way, if a person clicked on the wrong button, he/she can just click "No," and back out of the process.

I know another board (puttertalk) dropped s similar reputation system because it was widely misused and not that helpful. Maybe saving server speed?

I hate to be a downer, but I'm not sure what the function of this feature is. It seems like it's ripe for abuse or just silliness. I don't feel like someone's "reputation" would ever affect the way that I viewed their postings or anything else.

We can simply remove the feature...it came with the forum software as something that had been highly requested by forum members across the world to IP Board.

 

It is a way of having checks and balances done by the forum members...instead of just the moderators. I will be honest I am somewhat concerned at the concern over this to begin with. I sincerely hope this forum does not get to be like others where we spend our time nitpicking each other and simple features built to make the forum a better place.

 

Just tell us do you want it removed or to keep it?
