Just gotta survive the workday and then going to a buddies' house this evening to hit on the sim, should be a good time! Tomorrow, we have an early 2000s trivia night... which is making me feel quite old. I got the popped collars, aviators, and puka shell necklace ready to go.

Good morning everyone! Early morning today getting some work done and doing a few chores around the house. I’m hoping to get out on the course by noon today to beat the coming cloud coverage. Yesterday was a super windy round and I struggled with it to say the least. I need to clean up some mental errors and get on the range this weekend and dial in some distances. As others have mentioned, the GG Qi10 fitting today is mighty tempting but I’ll wait for them to come to my club in March instead of missing a nice day in January to go to GG. Have a great Friday everyone!

Played the course with my usual driver setting of +.75* (11.25* loft total), so the next round I get out for im going to try -.75* and see what happens (drvier at 9.75* loft) should be a fun experiment.

Anyone done a driver fitting or spun the ball too much, observations? Thoughts?

It’s always beneficial to be fit for your driver. Lofting down will open the club face slightly and in theory reduce spin. Lofting up will close the club face slightly. See below Trackman driver fitting - carry optimizer  Hope that helps.

Good morning everyone and happy Friday. No work today so I booked a massage for later today. Gonna put in some time on the putting green for some final testing numbers with my Odyssey Ai-One. Was hoping to get on the course but nobody is ready to open up quite yet. Looks to be a sunny almost spring-like day which is a great way to start the weekend. Hope everyone has a great day ahead.

Good morning and TGIF, Spies!!

Chilly, but sunny morning on this last day of the week. High of 60* today and sunny. Highs in the mid to upper 50's all week next week with no rain in sight. Sweet! I might actually be able to hit the range to work out the stiffness from the winter thus far. Or as I like to say, go shank a bucket of balls and blame it on winter.

I heard the rat, um I mean groundhog didn't see his shadow. So that means an early spring. Assuming you believe all that. I don't, but it's fun to hope.

My new hitting net arrived yesterday from Amazon. So I plan to put it together, take out the hitting mat from it's box and see how it all looks. I'll need to find something heavy to put at the base of the net to keep it from moving though. But this means I can finally get my R10 and Hackmotion out and start working on that iron swing!!

Good morning Spies! Looks to be a fairly nice day with possibility for rain in afternoon and then progressing into the overnight hours. After I cook breakfast this morning, I think I will head to the course will get some short-range practice in. Translation - After I take SWMBO to breakfast at our local cafe, I may get permission to go out and play...

I see Punxsutawney Phil has predicted an early Spring! While I hope he's got it right this time, his track record leaves a little to be desired... Kinda like my short game!

@Josh Parker enjoy the time spent with them as it does go by quickly - my little one will turn 40 this April.

@cnosil good to hear you on the call yesterday and know that you are doing well.

@Dead Solid Bogey Hope the doctors can run this thing down for you and provide the treatment necessary to get everything back on track.

Good morning all and TGIF! Working until around 3 today then done for the weekend. We are taking the boys to Great Wolf Lodge tonight for an overnight stay and some fun at the waterpark. Kind of a last minute decision, but they were running some room specials so we thought we'd surprise them with a little getaway. Wisconsin Dells is only about 15 minutes from home, so it's an easy little jump to make on short notice.

Also cannot recall if I ever mentioned it, but our Mexico trip in March is CONFIRMED and I cannot wait for that! We will be going March 11-16, so will be a nice little break right before the weather hopefully starts to turn nicer here at home and I come back to almost golf weather .

On to last nights sim league where I'm back in the winners circle shooting a +1 on the back side of Augusta with my partner this week! Highlight of the round was a 225 Baby fade to a back left pin on #14 with my Mizuno STZ 230 Hybrid from testing in 2023 that I stuck to 8ft for the birdie. I have been having a blast playing in this league and can feel the rust and quirks starting to fall off which I think will be very helpful this coming season!

Get fit for the TM for free and try the other stuff out! Last year I hit everything and requested a shaft or 2 specifically with the 430 and Paradym and they handed it to me the demo and off I went

Happy Friday. Two cuppas and some breky in my belly. About to go for a run. I hit the indoor range yesterday for the first full swings of 2024. Irons were excellent as was the hybrid. Currently not speaking to the driver and 3 wood. I’m thinking 10k MOI may not be enough.

Hope @Dead Solid Bogey gets things sorted out with his doctors. Your attitude through this is great to see.

 @GolfSpy_APH the new badges look fantastic. They were a nice surprise.

yeah thats the plan.  doing swing speed training too and not super far into it yet.  still 2.5months before league starts so this will whet my appetite for a full fitting in a few months i'm sure.

Good morning spies!

This week has felt like a drag, so I'm very excited that it's Friday and the weekend is fast approaching. Have a simulator session booked after work this evening. Looking forward to hitting some balls and relaxing after a (likely) busy day.

Punxsutawney Phil supposedly didn't see his shadow today, so we're hopefully due for an early Spring! Great news for golfers everywhere (especially in the northern states).

@cnosil great to hear your voice on the call yesterday. Glad you're doing well and hope recovery is easy for you.

More Pebble Beach to watch today, no complaints there!

Good morning! Another super busy day at work because we have milestone dates to hit for a couple of big projects. We’re launching a new interface for accessing our group’s data throughout the company and some people are nervous. Coffee is key. 

Also a couple of days ago I reported that my brother broke my driver. That turns out to not be completely true. He just put a NASTY sky mark in it and thought I would be very mad! 

 Anyone know how to get marks out of the face of a driver (see photo below)?

Morning spies.

After a morning of work I'm using up some 'bonus hours' donated to the company last weekend to go hit some balls as a warm up for my Golf Galaxy QI10 fitting this afternoon. Looking forward to trying those carbon faces out for forgiveness. Not in the market to buy right now, but hoping to have the specs for potential future second hand market purchase. Who knows.

Plans for the weekend just changed up too. Actually have a tee time booked for Sunday to go and play 18. Bit of a gamble on course condition, but it's meant to be close to 50f. The 10-12mph wind will bring the 'feels like' down to low/mid 40s, but a few dry days in the run up to Sunday should mean the conditions on the course are tolerable. Can't wait! Guessing the Callaway white box balls won't be here before then, so I'll have to try to get on course again soon with those.

000 steel wool if it's metal, and a dab of chrome polish. If it's other materials, maybe a dab of goo gone and a microfiber towel

Good morning spies! I was fit checked last year at club champions when I was fitted for my Srixon Z4 irons (wonderful clubs by the way). My current driver is a Sim2 Max I won at a tournament raffle a couple of years ago that rides on a shaft I was fitted to in 2019. So we tried all the latest and greatest from all the major brands and a couple of heads I had never heard of. With a new 400 dollar shaft tucked into it I hit last years Honma driver a whopping 11 yards further than I hit my current Sim2.  Total price on the club if I would have purchased the set up would have been on the high side of a thousand dollars. 

Nope.  90 + dollars a yard in increased distance didn't strike me as a bargain. I liked that really expensive shaft a lot though. 

That is the key to a good fitting, a good shaft. I am sure if you put the right shaft on a shoe box full of sand you could make the ball do what you want.

I got this sim2max used.  Never fitted for a driver (irons are fitted).  So i have ZERO idea what this current setup is doing on the various things as far as spin rate etc.  Plus im working on more speed.

For a free fitting Ill at least get to see what numbers my current driver is producing so far Ill hit it anywhere from 219 - 270 yards lol.  Miss is for sure predominantly left though.

Yep, words that must never be said. We referred to the Q word and the S word on the night shift. And even that was whispered. The E word was never even considered.

Good morning, Spies! Just got back from my stretch session. Hips were a little tight after my home gym construction project, which will be continued later today. Meanwhile, GF has instructed me to send her all the links so she can order the garage sim stuff for me. So now I have to decide once and for all, Garmin or Rapsodo. I've been leaning to Garmin because of the huge subscription and the funky balls Rapsodo requires, but I can be talked out of it.

Sounds like @cnosil is recovering nicely.

After seeing the Qi10 pics I wish I'd tried it at Golf Galaxy last week along with the Cobra Darkspeed and the AI Smoke. I think they had it there although if hadn't been officially released. I know they had the new Ping which I didn't try either.
